Potentially, but would more end up the F7/R3 swing, which may be very handy this year. If he plays number 1 ruck with McEvoy down back as they did the final 3 rounds last year I can see him going at 90. Would have to be confident that this role will eventuate based on preseason matches though. Other options are Ryder or Patton and it looks like they will both play more forward
The idea has merit in theory. However, in my experience it is hard enough finalising a fully upgraded team let alone having a 400k F7/R3!

If there was a viable R2 i'd have jumped on them the second i heard the Gawn news. 700k for a guy that is scraping to be fit for rd 1 and requires full use of his knee more than anyone else is as risky as ive seen it. Kinda hoping he misses rd 1. Will force me not to pick him and see a few interesting tactics at R2. Few coaches will go a premium ruck like Goldy/Marshall. Personally think thats a mistake as youre locking in 15-20 losses in every week when Gawn returns. Nic nat i dont mind, will hold his price at minimum but scares me with injury risk and random games missed if theres no r3 cover. Pruess ehh, only an option for me if Gawn misses the first 3+ weeks of the season.

If no cheaper R3s emerge would you put Naismith at R3 as cover for NicNat or is that too much $$$ on the bench?

@Seymour Skinner

Do you have any idea on who's next in line for the Rucks at the Tigers if Nankervis doesn't make it for the start of the season...?

I know they have Soldo/Balta/Chol who would do the job, but was just thinking whether CCJ is a chance early on...?

Soldo. Easily. I reckon some fans would argue Soldo is the preference to Nank already.

I reckon they'll look to play 2 rucks most weeks anyways.
They do froth over CCJ tho, while I don't like his chances of a extended run, because it would most likely rely on an injury to Jack/Lynch or Soldo/Nank, I would have him well ahead of Chol, and ahead of Balta as I think they are trying mould him as a KPD, not fwd.

Gawn will stay in my side but i will start experimenting with secondary options if not..... I like ROB - he is a massive fit unit who I think looks pretty robust injury wise. I think he can go 105 plus which seems Ok for his price. he also has potential to whack out a big score as he showed in his "rookie" year. Hopefully Gawn gets up though I would prefer to just set and forget

My only issue with ROB is those monster scores came again some very, very ordinary opponents.
149 - McKernan and Hartley
181 - Chol and Balta
123 - Lobb
120 - Stanley and Blicavs

While he clearly has a fair bit of talent to be able to pump out scores that high, but it doesn't fill me with confidence.

yeah agree I am not confident either but i do think he has another level. The question is will he do it this year. ROB is having another strong pre-season and he is an endurance beast consistently in the front pack of time trials. A few more contested clunks around the ground and a few more HTA's and he could get to 105-110. Let's not talk about his kicking style though :ROFLMAO:

Gawn R13 bye and ROB R14 bye...... so there is straight swap potential too as there would be with Goldy, English, Jacobs, Witts, McEvoy, Ceglar....maybe a bit of first half of the year draw is worth a look for these guys...
