I was painting the bathroom today and was listening to the White Stripes Elephant album. I am not sure if we have played them here yet? Some good music to crank up in the acoustics of a bathroom!

Prefer the original personally and don't like cover bands as a general rule .... to me they are lazy ...

I wouldn’t call the White Stripes a cover band! I agree that I don’t like straight out covers, but I dont mind a lot of covers where they have been “changed up” like with some of the examples in this thread. I like how Jack White has put a harder guitar edge to the song, but I agree the original is a classic.

I always liked 'Jay (Black) and the Americans' sound. I came across this video that shows him singing the original song and 50 years later at the age of 72, still sounds great to me.

And a bonus Foo Fighters clip... Love this one. Back in 2018, Dave Grohl pulls a guy up on stage from the crowd who's wearing Kiss makeup and holding a sign asking to play on the song Monkey Wrench. The guy gets up there and absolutely shreds it. Love the part at the 3:10 mark where "Kiss Guy" adds a solo where there wasn't one on the original song and totally throws Dave off his game.

Today will be 'Rainbow'.

Stone Gossard tells stories about his previous band Green river, with Jeff Ament, and Mark and Steve from Mudhoney, where they went to see Jane's Addiction, and Green River pretty much disbanded on the spot - it was a "What are we even doing, Jane's is where it's at".
.

Speaking of Stone Gossard. Love this album and never hear them mentioned anywhere.
