It’s just one round of data but it’s the extreme DT:SC ratios that have me liking the intercept defenders/backline generals. Here’s a few:

Astbury: 49 DT, 90 SC
Weitering: 49 DT, 102 SC
T Stewart: 63 DT, 100 SC
Blicavs: 38 DT, 86 SC
Wilkie: 39 DT, 79 SC
Hurn: 94 DT, 152 SC
Howe: 110 DT, 156 SC
Andrews: 62 DT, 103 SC

Sure there will be other similar players who didn’t have such skewed scores but all of the above scored 35+ more SC points than DT points and some of them haven’t needed to hit the stats sheet too often to score well.

So I feel as though Andrews will be one of the main beneficiaries.

The midfield bulls look as though they will be scored generously due to the inflated scoring for contested possessions and the rucks will benefit from inflated scores for HOTA.

Just my thinking anyway and only based off what I saw during round 1. Round 2 could turn my observations on their collective heads!
And also Roberton 20 : 26

Thanks @Ben's Beasts, I’ll need to think about that.

I was actually wondering whether Roberton might be a reasonable counterexample (and that there might be others who went really low - with the low TOG meaning that some players in each position have really low SC : DT, while others have really high ratios ... almost like if you took quarter time scores and quadrupled them) ... then it turns out Roberton had a shocker in both formats!

@Ben's Beasts love the call. Hurn very high on my agenda for the same reason but geez he's pricey.

I'm pretty interested with the group's view on rookies. It looks like next week we're possibly going to have at least Flanders, Rankine, Hill, Bennell, Cameron, Sturt - imagine if Gould was named + 1-2 others - which surely means at least 2 trades this week will be needed for basement rooks.

To compound the issues Hill, Rankine and Bennell are massive risk injury risks, but also lucrative.

Freo fans - is Hill a lock 22? He's an obvious on-field choice but you'd think will be managed. Geo looks like a good rookies option but a Port loss, with no goals will quickly stop his price from moving....I'm leaning towards taking Geo but can see it being regretted next week.

This is the mantra I'm following, depending on rookies available I'm looking to spend money on some of these guys, Hurn has me really interested but is top price. Regarding mids, I think this is where I'll save some money and look at JPK, Sloane, Cunners, Viney etc.

Oh I know too well as I started with him last season too!

I just feel that these shortened games will really suit players like Andrews this season along with rucks and contested bulls.
Interesting - I was a long suffering Andrews owner too!

What’s your thinking on those three player types benefiting? I guess the rucks and the bulls may play a higher % TOG in a shortened game (less need for second ruck/less need for best mids to rest forward or on the bench?) ... but players like Andrews are already right up there for TOG - so I’m guessing you might be expecting a different game style?
As long as @Connoisseur resists the temptation to select H Andrews, all should be fine. ;)

H Andrews selected by Connoisseur in RD14 2018- 22 SC scored on debut due to bleeding on the brain (the collision with J Cameron)
H Andrews selected again by Connoisseur in RD12 2019.

H Andrews when selected by Connoisseur since 2018: 69.91 from 11 (11/11 below 100)
H Andrews when not selected by Connoisseur since 2018: 92.15 from 27 (11/27 100+)

Bont > Neale (Protecting myself from a potential serious price drop with Steele and DeBoer to come)
Brayshaw > Ceglar (Really like this one. 95+ season looks achievable with his role)
Roberton > Hill (Needed to facilitate the above)

These are the 3 moves I'm feeling cosiest on right now. Will see what happens with Sturt and Geo come team sheets, also have a Zerk shaped problem at D6 but we're all in the same boat there.

I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps Cox out of the side if he comes in and plays a decent game or two.

cunnington cripps both on the short list, beast around the stoppages and with shorter quarters TOG could improve. i have been attempting to find stats from past seasons in regards to TOG. any clues on where to look.

Short > Noble
Brodie Smith > Tom Stewart
T Lynch (Richmond) > Hugh Greenwood

See what happens with rookies. Interested in Sturt and Robertson.

Think I will hold Dunkley rather than trading to Tom Michell?

Hold Roberton and Zerk for a week unless it means getting a doughnut.

Anyone have a thought on me trading OUT Dan Houston? I'd use him to make some cash, effectively "swapping" him for a Viney type and not have to trade Bont.

I'd end up having to replace him on field with one of Doedee/Hill/Young (although 2 of the 3 would be in my side after trading BZT).

I don't but it's hard to say without seeing what other issues you might have in your team. He's one I'd move on if I didn't have bigger issues everywhere else.

I know this sounds pretty obvious but with the compressed season & player value set to increase/decrease after 1 game, has there ever been a more important round for (correction) trades in order to bolster team value? I feel like those that don’t adequately use the 5 trades (Not necessary all of them) will lose any sense of competitiveness once the values all jump after this week? Or am I being too naive here

I'm considering one of hanneberry or zak jones. Any thoughts on which one? Hanners the cheaper option.
Come join @IDIG and I, as a Hannebery owner.

Proven scoring history, higher upside, cheaper than Z Jones, big POD and can be utilised as a stepping stone to the elite mids (Neale, Macrae, Mitchell, etc).

I'm put off by Hanners, last great season was 2016, then a drop in avg for 2017.
2018 & 2019 he struggled to get on the park.

Coming back after two and a half months and I don't even know where to start reorganising my team...in fact I don't even know if I should start at all lol :ROFLMAO:

Haven't been keeping up with any team news in recent months so I'm sorry if the players below have already been discussed!
Ah well here goes nothing....

Problem players:

McAsey - huge problem. Was 13k short of affording Noble. Any new/other defense rookies we should be looking at trading in? Otherwise will need to downgrade one of the others to get Noble in. I don't want to trade Lloyd out!!!

Houston - what are people doing with this guy? gut feeling is to keep him for now

T.Green - no idea whether to keep him or not, is his JS still good? Who would you trade him out for?

D.Robertson - from memory I think this guy only played in round 1 because someone else got injured? What to do with this guy? Brisbane's team looks stacked.

B.Cavarra - gonna trade him to Georgiades or Sturt. Kinda angry cuz I had Georgiades in my team all the way until the start of round 1 but got rid of him cuz I had second thoughts!

Other players:

T.Brown - had a decent game in round 1 for Collingwood. @Darkie hey mate, how are ya?! thoughts on Brown? Will he still be playing?

McInerney - unfortunately I left him on my bench in round 1!!! Hopefully he's still in the selection mix for Sydney

C.Taylor, M.King, C.Budarick, B.Davis - planning to keep all of these for now unless there are better options elsewhere? is there? lol

BZT, Stracevich - keeping albeit reluctantly!

W.Gould - donut on the bench. Keep or trade? Thinking (more like hoping/praying!) he's good enough to get a game at some point...then again it's Mr.Longmire we're talking about here!

I mean I could've cheated and posted this in the questions thread created by the great Mr. @Rowsus to get all the answers but where would be the fun in that right?!.....Hey Row! :p

Out of my 5 trades this week, Will be 2 rookie trades, Cavarra to Georgiades is a lock, Mcasey to someone, will depend on team selections as there are slim pickings. might switch Starcevich to Def and trade in a rookie Mid
Hey hey! Interested to know what you decided to do? I'm facing similar issues!

If no decent new rookies picked in def, will switch Starcevich to Def and trade out out Mcasey and trade in T. Brown or Robertson into the mids, presuming Starcevich retains his spot

Might reassess my other 3 trades if Doedee gets picked or wait another week to see if Doedee gets through the game

Welcome back, @Rumbler.
Looks like most of your queries are Rookies, and cheaper players.
All you can do is wait, see which ones make it through to Round 2, and re-act accordingly.
As to Houston, most that have him are holding, myself included. He was one of the last 5 I put in my team, soi'm disappointed with that decision, but I have a feeling there will be bigger fires to put out, than him.
We really need to avoid having too many donuts sitting on our bench this week, as it will likely lead to irrecoverable problems.
