Yes. Of course, the health authorities ruling is the only one that matters. Just hope no one else gets sick, especially Carlton players.

Although, it is surprising that only James Stewart met the definition of “close contact” (I’m sure most would agree).
I thought it would be limited to his group of 8, and maybe a portion of them. Was surprised it was only his wrestling partner.

I was more surprised by those wanting the game cancelled and trying to re-write the close contact rules to make them worse! Trying to claim because they touched the same football at some point everyone should be out and game called off?

I could understand people trying to re-write rules to make them more beneficial for our game, it confused me as to why so many wanted to make up their own rules to get the game called off!

Agreed on the health point - can only hope everyone stays healthy in the coming fortnight.

Well, it’s not called a pandemic for no reason. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to have touched a footy touched by someone who has tested positive to C19.

Thinking of going Houston down to Williamson at this stage thinking 3 rounds is enough to know it was a bad starting selection

That is a personal opinion that may be shared by many. However, the governing body can only go off the department of health guidelines to set the minimum standards - which they have clearly done. AFLPA and league can obviously go above and beyond this is they wish.

Never doubted every essendon player has had contact with Covid-19 now, so risk is higher than someone who has no traceability to an infected individual. Simply stated the authorities and league would determine based on close contact as defined by them, not yourself or others on this forum who tried to redefine it and eluded to wanting the game cancelled before we had all the facts!

Let’s leave it at that.

I’m very happy with the news that no one else tested positive and can only hope that no else gets sick.

Many thinking of sitting tight this weekend on trades? The old round 4 type scenario where you are waiting for a cow to stop mooing and don't want to do silly sideways trades?

I know with a shorter season, need for points now and potentially a lack of cash generating options people are more aggressive. However, really not finding a trade for my team that I'm convinced improves the overall season outlook!

I then think, every chance we don't get 17 weeks and if we do, could be multi-game rounds, do we need the trades or not later on. Who knows what rules Virtual spots implement in bye / multi game rounds!

One seemingly unfair benefit I get is being able to still grab Rivers at basement price but I’ll take it and go Cavarra to Rivers.

Other trade is a luxury trade, without caring for usual rules, I will go Danger to Simpkin.

Ok so everyone is playing and now I am getting nervous as will I have the guts to go through with my plan of trading out one of the most potentially dangerous guns in the game? Grundy will almost certainly destroy big sauce on Friday night but i could be a net winner overall.

Planned trades pending teams are Grundy/Sturt to Pittonet/Petracca

Funny - I was set on trading out Grundy if he missed last week.

I just can't do it now. First two weeks after trade and he faces an old sauce and TBC... will be scary viewing.

Can't even find my trade thoughts in this Trade thread anymore ?

Fingers crossed for Greene & Kelly.

If Naismith is selected :-

Sauce - > Naismith (R3)

If he is not selected either Sauce - > Petracca/Simpkin/Greenwood/B Smith/Ceglar/Big O/Butler

Hoping McInerney is back & my other rookies all play again , seems to early too cull

So what will happen if another Essendon player test result comes back positive on Saturday morning? Will that player be removed, or the whole match put on hold at the last minute again?

EDIT: It has me worried about going early on trades.
Game would have to be postponed until you could investigate who the close contacts of that individual were.

I think this time they would tell both teams to be prepared to play Tuesday Night

So why don't they work out some possible scenarios and tell us SC Coaches, in advance, that if this or that happens, then this is what we will do?

I think the answer is obvious SC wise. Be ready to cop donuts/rookie scores.

Agreed.

However, the AFL should do the same. Clear guidelines on what they will try and achieve in the event of another positive.

E.g: Isolate whole club whilst an investigation is undertaken as to who was a close contacts of the individual (as per health department definitions);
Isolate said close contacts for the required 14 day quarantine;
Play game 36-48 hours later (mid week); and
Be flexible with following weeks fixture, likely to push mid week teams to later in round again and may need to bring others slightly forward.

Virtual sports can then announce the desires plans based on the above scenario.

Then, when things go pear shaped, we all just have to be flexible or season is off! However, can plan for the simpler scenario as above.

To be fair to Virtual Sports they have said they may grant additional trades during the season , depending on the fixture situation.

Pretty hard to do much when like us they only have fixtures up to Round 5.

They better do it soon if they want to placate the currently disadvantaged players.
I'm thinking of just deleting my team as I've sent them emails (not abuse) outlining why I think I and others have been unfairly disadvantaged.
No feedback personally or via media except an article outlining another benefit I don't get access to (trading in Melb / Ess players who missed a price rise.)
As I said I may delete my team this year and I've been playing for at least a decade I believe.

RDT state the possible changes in their terms and conditions , I am sure SC do as well , if I could actually find where to read them on my phone

EDIT

Still says 30 trades
