Looks like the Ess v Blues game will go ahead and seems like all the main guns will play (at this stage)!

Hope it stays that way. Great result that no one else tested positive for C19.
Although losing two players is not ideal, the team is relatively unaffected. Looks promising for future altercations.

Every man and his dog will be trading Simpkin in this week it seems... Currently the most traded in player.
Simpkin seems to be the hot property this week, however Bailey Smith is the same price and looks to have similar prospects (also at 5% ownership v 10% for Simpkin). I wonder if he is worth a look as well

*** mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn that Dunkley news just pours more salt into my wounded team.
Will need to trade out Whitfield and Dunkley which means that clown Houston will survive yet another week in my team. This season is so screwed up. All I'm doing is making sideways trades. I don't think I'll get a team full of premiums this season.

Very unlucky. I would keep Whitfield though, he’s a keeper. Especially having to trade out a premium already

Sure, the legal “close contact” definition might not be met. But how would you know which players touched the ball which Connor touched? Just cos the definition wasn’t met doesn’t mean it wasn’t spread.
Those close contact guidelines apply to people who are socially distancing - ie. maintaining a minimum of 1.5m between themselves and others at all times.
Once again the guidelines around close contact triggers are based on social distancing guidelines and research which shows that it takes on average 15 minutes for people in the same enclosed space to facilitate surface-based contact transfer. It's not about making up a definition - it's just common sense that when players are exerting themselves in close-contact training drills the risk of transfer is far greater.
Once again, I don't understand why you think the close contact definition / guidelines displayed by both Victorian and Australian health departments are not relevant here? Why do you think your theories / opinion / "common sense" override the health department advice and clear messaging?

What will matter is that a) it is a confirmed test result and 2) Quarantine is imposed on all those individuals deemed to be a "close contact" as defined by the department and outlined by myself earlier.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is a number less than his whole bubble who get quarantined. It appears to be self interest of fear mongering for those claiming the whole squad should be deemed close contact!
The Department of Health and Human Services concluded only one close contact, which is great news for the industry and a little wake up call for everyone to tidy up a few practices within clubs. Essendon now get to play Carlton, near full strength fresh off an extended break.

Was surprised so many wanted to cancel this game and imply the whole team would be out of action, there was just never any support for that conclusion!

Essendon should play tomorrow night, and then back up on Sunday or Monday - we can be flexibile and push a fixture one or two days!

Unfair on Melbourne due to the practice match I guess.

It really should be part of the plan moving forward, and very clear to all clubs games are only postponed for 48 hours at a time. It is happening in leagues all over the world now.

Despite the negative test results, someone who comes into close contact with a person who has tested positive is required to quarantine for 14 days. This is due to an incubation period, where someone can test negative but still carry the virus.

Age article notes the above too. Safest approach is for everyone to wait 14 days to be sure but if the medical authorities are happy to ignore tackling as close contact, AFL isn’t going to ask further questions.

I just hope no one else develops symptoms next week and very glad initially no one else has tested positive.

I am actually going to give the AFL a pat on the back here.

From the time everything unravelled on Saturday afternoon until getting a result last night is pretty damn good in my thinking.

Talking to the commission , talking to Essendon , talking to ALL other 17 clubs , other stakeholders etc etc you would hope that the processes and protocols put in place have worked (and yes with so much uncertainty things probably still need to be changed and tinkered with , let's face it they (we as a society) are well and truly working with a great unknown.

I am sure the Health Department would then need time to undertake a thorough investigation (I would certainly hope so) and get all the players , coaches and support staff tested again.

Through this time you can't expect Melbourne to sit around twiddling the thumbs waiting for a result one way or the other they still need to get "match conditioning" into their players.

Fixtures have been done in blocks for a reason , plenty of time now for Auld to sit down and work through several options in regards to when the Ess v Melbourne game is played.

Unfortunately for us SC fantasy coaches , we might not be high up on the AFL's list of priorities at the present time , even though perhaps we should be ?

Anyway just my thoughts. Round 3 is in the history books now time to move on to Round 4.

Disclaimer : I have absolute zero idea of the Covid-19 protocols and processes the AFL has given to the club nor what goes on behind closed doors outside of what the media circus reports.

You are again redefining the definition of close contact to suit your argument.

The only definition of close contact that matters is the health departments, and not surprisingly it is the one that has been used to determine what close contact is.

You and I can spit ball all we want as to what close contact is, however it is irrelevant!

Aboslute class user of the ball! I watched him like a hawk last week (cause I had him 20+ disposals in a multi), and also gets to the right spots. Not always used when in space too, but with Dunkley now out, surely gets more time through the middle?!
Unfortunately I don't think I have the cash otherwise he is an IN for mine.

Yes. Of course, the health authorities ruling is the only one that matters. Just hope no one else gets sick, especially Carlton players.

Although, it is surprising that only James Stewart met the definition of “close contact” (I’m sure most would agree).
