And he ll probably get that number 23 as well. The guy who has that number is Lockyer who has yet to play a senior game.

Pretty sure Buddy will take over the young fella who is currently wearing number 23.
He jokingly said last week he would be having words to him once he got back from overseas.

All this talk about nobody wants to be Paul Roos' heir, maybe it's because Paul Roos did not make the position open to everyone.
I think the only person he wanted was Stuart Dew.
Simpson and Burns are pretty much ready to be Senior coaches so they don't need to be schooled.

StKilda just released their 2014 calendar for sale and it features Dal Santo. Will be funny if NDS wears different colors next year.

When will we get news of the changes to Supercoach 2014?
Will it be after the NAB Draft or before?

Just saw this on the AFL's website, left me wondering what this guy would be like today in supercoach terms, watching the video he reminds me a bit of Taylor Walker.

He was certainly unique. Could take some spekkies, kick goals from not far out but had horrible kicking style that was hard to watch. I hope I never see another footballer like him again. Apart from being a marking forward, Taylor Walker is nothing like him. Taylor Walker sounds like a genuis compared to hearing Warwick Capper talk. I still shake my head how Capper kicked 100 goals in a season. Gerald Healy and Greg Williams delivering ball on a platter must have had something to do with it. I think there was a period around 1986-87 where Swans kicked over 30 goals in 3 matches in a row. They were quite a team with the two brilliant midfielders. They never got a premiership with that team because Hawthorn and Carlton were even better.

Thanks for the context, i never really followed AFL until the Crows came in in '91 (when i was 11), so i don't know that much about his playing days, but needless to say his post football reputation speaks for itself :)

Yep, I clearly remember the yell "Capper!" every time someone went up for a big mark in the yard in primary school in the 80s :)

Interesting read on the 2014 draw

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-08-28/league-announces-change-to-season-structure

Cli***:
- H&A season starts Friday 14 March with round 1 spread over 2 weeks
- Season will remain at 22 rounds with a second bye week introduced (rd 8-10, 18-19)
- NAB Cup will take place over a fortnight in Feb with focus on regional matches
- AFL considering representaive game instead of NAB cup grandfinal

Then the most interesting part for AFL and SC reasons...

AFL general manager of broadcasting Simon Lethlean said the Commission had signed off on a new weighting system that would determine the five double match-ups for each club as part of the premiership season.

Before the fixture is constructed, the final ladder will be grouped into the top six teams, middle six teams and bottom six teams to better managing the equality of double match-ups for all clubs the following season.

Teams will play a maximum of three double-up fixtures against the other sides in their group, which would eliminate what happened to Hawthorn this year, when it had to play twice against each of the sides that finished in last year's top eight except for Fremantle.

“The weighting of second-time match ups for clubs enables the AFL to better deal with the key requirement of equality, as well as continuing to ensure that our venue obligations and our broadcast obligations can be met," said Lethlean.

“Retaining a pre-set fixture for each season ahead, rather than re-fixturing the final rounds of the season after all clubs have played each other once across 17 rounds, better enables the AFL to manage travel-loads of the non-Victorian clubs in particular, and ensure that key games such as Derbies, Showdowns, Q Clashes and major blockbusters can be accommodated twice in a season,” he said.

Lethlean added that the requirements of the existing TV deal made it too difficult to make radical changes to the structure of the fixture, but there was a strong push by the Commission for fixture optimization and equalisation, as well as to start the season earlier and to add a second bye.
And there's some diagram i haven't quite figured out yet :D

Yes, SuperCoach Gold Members have early access (before Xmas) to the 2014 team planner, which I'll convert to spreadsheet for those without Supercoach Gold.

More on the draw
Night games for Geelong in 2014

GEELONG is likely to play nearly all of its home games under lights next season, with the club expected to host just one day match at Simonds Stadium.

AFL.com.au understands the Cats will open their 2014 home and away campaign on a Thursday night in the second week of round one. It is believed their opponent will be Adelaide.

It is believed there will be four games across the first weekend and five in the second, with the Cats-Crows clash to kick things off in week two on March 20.

The following night, North Melbourne is tipped to host Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Gold Coast is expected to kick off its season at home in the first week against Richmond.
