At first glance, GWS have a great draw from R14 and seem to have good premos to target.

From R14, GWS play Freo, Carlton, Crows, Dees and Saints.

There may be some nicely priced GWS premos after their poor showing last night. Taranto, Cogs, Haynes, J.Cameron come to mind. Greene and Jelly potentially as well. Z.Williams of course too but might not be as good value as Haynes.

Think there has been a massive overreaction so far. Once people actually have analysed their teams as some coaches have done above, it appears that most are tracking fine. Now this is provided that most have been trading in players coming off the byes in recent weeks (rookies the exception), which is something I would almost assume many are doing given the expertise of users on this site. I believe extra trades will appease everyone, provided they do not go overboard (personally I think 3 should be the magic number as there are 3 bye rounds).

Regarding trades, I am in the minority of players who held a few trades between round 2-6. Rightly or wrongly, I feel it is unfair devaluing a trade to the point that those who were trigger happy have the upper hand. Particularly as we planned to have 30 trades over 17 rounds (ie. max trading essentially until round 15) for the first 8 rounds of the season.

My 2c
Hopefully SuperCoach make the right call.

Has to stay as best 18. We’ve got 3 weeks to plan unlike the Dees Bombers bye. Shouldn’t be too hard to navigate with a couple of extra trades.
Yeah I agree. I think Best 18, +1 trade per bye round (+3 trades total) and up to 3 trades to use in R14-16 seems pretty fair. That would make it 37 trades total for the year in a 18 round season with 5 Best 18 bye rounds (when originally the plan was 30 trades over 23 rounds with 3 best 18 bye rounds and 1 best 22 bye round).

Really hoping this is what they settle on!

We already have a precedence for the R9-12 condensed fixture which is about to pass us by.
If we use this as a guide, then they will grant us an additional 4 trades (one for each of the R14-17) and a maximum of 3 trades to be used for those condensed rounds.

Agreed! And to be fair, the mass restings over the shortened period haven't really eventuated. Teams still want to win games and games are shorter to begin with so perhaps 4 day breaks are more manageable.

Round 15 team availability (accounting for Rd 13 trades too with Fyfe or Parker coming in)

Green = available
Red = bye
Yellow = donut

DEF: Ridley, Laird, Ryan, Docherty, Z Williams, Ling (B Williams Stewart)
MID: Neale, Oliver, Mitchell, Cripps, Yeo, Fyfe/Parker Wicks, Rivers (Schoenberg, Bytel, Duncan)
RUC: Grundy, Draper (Cameron)
FWD: Petracca, Dusty, Whitfield, D Smith, Big O, B Smith (Simpkin, Close)

Not looking too bad with only 4 premos in Stewart/Duncan/Smith/Simpkin out. Will most likely have moved Cameron & Close on for a premo and rookie and do some dpp swaps to try to field 22 if I can. Moved up 11k in ranks from the last 2 byes (also rose in the bombers/dees bye) so I prefer to have more byes.. so bring on Rd 15! :D

I've had my eye on this situation for some time, and thankfully it has paid off. As my team stands I'll only be missing 3 Keepers in Rd. 15.
In 14 and 16, only 2. Bring on Best 18. Just have to pray for a good run with injuries.

Sure makes the rest of this week's trades easier. Though I probably would have held George for a bit longer had I known his bye.

Think they may grant extra trades or make round 15 a bye for finals.

if round 15 is not a bye for finals, whoever wins game 1 in top 4 will be gifted the GF when the others teams trade sideways.
Round 15 being a bye for finals makes sense.

Round 14 Finals week 1, R16-18 Finals Week 2-4.

100%

Couldn't agree more.

Still can't believe they gifted extra trades in a season with 5 (now 4) less rounds. Completely devalued the currency of a trade, after many loyal/prudent coaches had played that strategy in a season of unknowns.

I am now trading silly sideways trades suspecting they will do it again!

I sort of agree with the posts above, and at the same time think “this is a mad season, they’re just doing to keep as many people interested as possible, good on them”
If the aim of the game is always "keep as many interested as possible"... just give everyone 2 trades a week, every week like AFL Fantasy.

This game has never had that, and always valued trades very highly. Best coaches are those who have used them wisely - until 2020, where organisers have effectively ensured only those who were aggressive early had a chance of winning!
