At this stage I'm picking these premos;

Def: Lloyd $656,000, Haynes $528,000 and Saad $526,000.

Mid: Steele $658, Fyfe $608,000, Rowell $495, Cunnington $439,000

Ruck: Gawn $751,000 , English $551,000

Forward: Danger $611,000, Rowan Marshall $557,000, Dunkley $560,000.

I had English for a while and understand the pick but his first three games are Grundy, NicNat and Goldy and that put me off a bit. Ended up going with Big O for now which allows me to have a 5 premo mid plus Heppell.

From my initial look through, you can put together a pretty strong team of players drafted from the last 3-4 years. Rucks are maybe not ideal, but lots of good kids to pick from.
As I'm having another mare of a round in BBL, rather than watching, I thought I'd try putting a side together full of players with only a few seasons of experience as per this post of mine. I decided any player who had played games in no more than 4 previous seasons would be eligible. This means Naismith is eligible for example, who first played one game in 2014, then played matches in 2016, 2017 and 2020. Most on the list debuted 2017 or later though.

I have kept the same rookies/structure as my previously revealed team for simplicity - you can easily bring another gun player in by changing this around, or add in mid priced players. The "guns" chosen are the highest priced players who are eligible - all bar two of those in the forward line averaged 90+ last season, and these two still averaged 85+ (only 10 forwards total averaged 90+ - these two were #11 and #12).

DEF: Luke Ryan, Jordan Ridley, Tom Stewart, Dan Houston, Denver Grainger-Barras, Lachlan Jones. [Jacob Wehr, Thomas Highmore]

MID: Hugh Greenwood, Hugh McCluggage, Andrew Brayshaw, Sam Walsh, Jarrod Berry, Will Phillips, Luke Pedlar, Tom Powell. [Reef McInnes, Connor Downie, Alex Davies]

RUC: Reilly O'Brien, Tim English. [Josh Treacy (F)]

FOR: Rowan Marshall (R), Zak Butters, Shai Bolton (M), Braeden Campbell (M), Finlay Macrae (M), James Rowe. [Brayden Cook (M), Caleb Poulter (M)]

$333,700 remaining.

If you are interested, the following players would also be eligible (I may have missed one or two). I have only included players who averaged 80+ in 2020:

DEF: Jordan Dawson, Tom Doedee, Alex Witherden, Jack Bowes, Hunter Clark, Brennan Cox, Jack Lukosius, Damon Greaves.

MID: Tim Kelly, Andrew McGrath, Harry Perryman, Jy Simpkin, Matt Rowell, Bailey Smith, Adam Cerra, Will Setterfield, James Worpel, Brandan Parfitt, Tim Taranto, Jack Graham, Josh Daicos, Caleb Serong, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Patrick Lipinski, James Cousins, Mitchell Hinge.

RUC: Peter Ladhams (F), Oscar McInerney, Darcy Fort, Sam Naismith

FOR: Peter Ladhams (R).

Matthew Kennedy (M/F) appears in the picker and averaged 81.4 in 2020, but I think he may have been delisted? He would be eligible too.

Very interesting stats, thank you.

It indicates to me that Adams should be a premium scorer next year, but also that he may largely be priced accordingly.

2018 - regular season only

quick calculations

Taylor Adam with Treloar - 86
Taylor Adams without Treloar - 106

2018 finals Adams played very well with Treloar in the side and Treloar was massively below normal levels. Treloar hadn't played since round 14.

Think there is relevance to this view and had heard it back then too.

edit - just saw Connoiseur has posted a better period of comparison scores.

Wth Treloar missing 10 of 18 games, it does limit the upside. The positive is there may be upside in his numbers towards premium level, although, with longer quarters maybe he breaks even when other midfielders have reduced numbers.

I like him just not when he plays forward in a struggling Hawthorn side. Was a defender when he went down with that ACL.

In my side atm. Makes the Hawks a better side when he is playing in the back half and hopefully he gets back to full strength there this year.

I omitted Rowan Marshall and brought in Dangerfield from the midfield.

I have chosen expensive rookies, as I expect the higher draft choices too get a better opportunity to play earlier on (easier to downgrade than upgrade) which results in 11 premium players.

Here's my early team. Will prob take some mid-pricers out later.
Two observations come to mind. Do you have enough Captain options. Second you have none of the higher priced rookies (even just as holders). Not all of them will show up but a couple will eg the likes of Will Phillips, B Campbell, T Powell and DGB. As you say you may need to drop someone down to get the cash to bring some of these guys in.
