Green v Rowell ?
Obviously a price difference, but in terms of expected / potential output, how do they rank?
Is Rowell worth the extra $’s ?

Personally I've gone off Rowell as a starting selection. Interrupted pre-season while still recovering from that shoulder and half a game in the praccy says to me he isn't going at full tilt just yet.

Green appears to have had a flawless pre-season and was imposing in the practice match so will be going at 100% from round 1. I prefer him over Rowell as a starting selection.

Thanks. Similar to my thoughts.

I guess we can't know for certain but I think it's quite good.

I read an article the other day where he said he's aiming to play all 22 matches this season. I guess Leon Cameron has the last say on that but the intent is there and personally I feel as though he is their best midfielder so I don't think he misses unless he becomes fatigued at any stage.

Have I read that correctly re: Green @ GWS vs. Jelly, Cogs, Taranto etc?

54% of SC players have picked Rowell in their sides after 4 games... ;)
Would think Wowell's career (so far) is greatly better than Green's.

Dow , Powell , WOWell they might be getting confused 😀

Just wait for McLennan......surely he debuts this year

It will be interesting to see who gets a tag, if any, out of Saad and Docherty .
Docherty got tagged a lot last year, Saad not as much. Saad is a good kick but not as good as Docherty and doesn’t have the same volume of possessions.

He had quite a few tags that for whatever reason weren’t put on FanFooty (I.e. Will Hayward tagged him closely), he said in an interview he was free the first few weeks then got tagged most weeks thereafter.

Hayden Young + Heeney

Vs

Impey + Jayden Short
Impey and Short.

I currently have both but have neither Young nor Heeney.

Really like the half-back roles for both Impey and Short.

I think Young will be one hell of a player too but not certain in his JS or scoring capabilities this season. I don’t mind the Heeney pick and he has been in my team at various stages but think he is at risk of averaging in the 80’s due to his role.

Cheers for the response Ben

Yeah it's an interesting one, Heeney has scored consistently well whether playing forward or midfield in previous years, there's some old posts of mine I can pull up on that. I'm more worried about how he goes coming back from injury and if he gets injured again.

I think Short will finally get going as a solid premium when Houli drops off (or when he retires) and this is the year you'd expect him to finally drop off. For a bit more money he could prove less of a headache than a cheaper Heeney, although Heeney does have a better scoring record.

At the same time I do prefer Young to Impey. Impey was pretty poor last year and you'd be hoping that he could at least get close to a 70 average to be a worthwhile pick. Not entirely convinced he'll do that with ease.

I don't see any JS issues for Young, I see issues with him being too expensive and only making 80k or so. I think he is a future SC star and reckon he is so suited to the game and has shown such brilliant glimpses that a 75-80 average is very doable, just not sure 280k odd is worth what he will produce. I also reckon he has a lot more upside than Impey.

My forward line would also be Dunkley, Ziebell, Daniher, Impey, Dow and Rowe and that does feel a little bit too shallow and potentially insecure with injury risk also a concern. My backline would be Laird, Stewart, Short, ZWilliams, Harmes and Gould. On the whole I think I'd like to balance these two lines more, even though I think I prefer Impey + Short as the combination.

Luke McDonald is around the same price as Short but him peaking randomly so late in his career and some very poor seasons in recent history is enough for me to see him as possessing huge bust potential, I'll let others take that risk and maybe get bitten.

Good assessments there.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the extra premiums in DEF instead of FWD. It looks as though it will be necessary this season.

I’ve actually gone even deeper in DEF at this stage with Williams at D5.

Kind of similar to what is above, but don't think it's been asked directly.

Short vs Docherty

One on the way up, one on the way down?
I was on Docherty earlier in the pre-season but I prefer the Short pick now.

I still think Docherty can average 100 or so but I think Short can go even higher than that. It looks as though Richmond want the ball in his hands coming out of the defensive 50 and he took most of the kick-outs in the practice match. Ranked 1 for effective metres gained in the AFL last season too.

Docherty has the runs on the board and is likely to still have a good role for SC this season but I think Short’s role will be more lucrative.

Really tricky, I lean Impey/Short.

Battling a similar conundrum myself with Young + Heeney vs Cox + Dunkley.

Finding it difficult to get cosy on Heeney, any time I end up with him in my team I feel so much comfortable getting him up to a guy who'll see more midfield time.

One of these years he'll put it all together, I'm sure of it.
