To confirm/ clarify, I believe part of the rules is no trading in the week leading up to the auction & draft.

So are we now on a trade holt until the draft whereby we can trade picks only - and then after the draft we can trade players again?

Trading is allowed at present. After the auction segment there will be a deadline for trading, 2nd Contracts, delisting, etc probably the Wednesday or Thursday. This is to allow time to have the draft segment set up.

That's currently how it's played out. I'm open to moving at least one of them to next season in the equivalent round. Pick 31 is certainly movable as well.

Still not sure how I'm going to tackle the FA and RFA segment, and that will ultimately determine how many draft picks I'll be using this season.

Just to confirm, is the rule that if I delist Roberton before the start of season 2021 and Roberton retires at the end of season 2021, I would need to pay his salary for both season 2021 and 2022? Or only season 2021?

Can I clarify something for the auction draft - what are the rules re: newly drafted players contract structure? Can we front/backload however we like (I think within 50% of avg was the rule?) or is there something in place to prevent that. I think in the initial draft there was something like your total salary has to be equal to the total average salary of all your players, was that rule purely for initial team construction?

You can structure how you like within the parameters of the 50% rule. The total average was for the initial draft only (for various reasons).

I suspect a few coaches could answer this, but just want to make sure:

- Pre-season draft picks can only be used to select this year’s newly drafted AFL players, eg Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and his cohort. These will all be 2 year contracts, at the SCSUL price listed in the 2021 Draftable players tab (212k for JUH).

- There will be a separate, subsequent draft for unowned players. I assume the order for this is TBD, but will follow a snake format. The prices for these players are set at the SCSUL price on the same tab, but contract years can be determined by the drafting player.

The implication of this is that I can use my pre-season #1 pick to select Ugle-Hagan, but not an unowned player like Aaron Hall.

If I really want Hall, I’ll just have to hope no one else takes him before my first pick in the unowned player draft 🙂 He would then cost me 401k for as many years as I determine.

Is that correct?

Hmm I thought the preseason draft would include the new and old players.
