Stuck on DeGoey vs Heeney... loved DeGoey's role last night, but think that Heeney is a little more durable. Not sure if DeGoey gets so much mid time with Sidebottom andAdams back in the side. My thoughts are that Heeney is lower risk, but DeGoey potentially has more upside so that old chestnut of risk vs reward. As I type this out I'm leaning towards Heeney (might be biased by club allegiance). Thoughts?
Heeney is absolutely the safer play. De Goey is absolutely the glory play as he's just got far more explosive scoring potential because his coach wants to use him in his best position and Heeney's hates the idea.
De Goey, if he stays fit is capable of being a top 3 forward. Sidebottom with a calf, Adams with a hamstring which are not good injuries to derail the preseason with and Adams has a pretty wretched history so I wouldn't be writing off that De Goey gets even more midfield time. Quite frankly he's the only one outside Pendles who looked dangerous there last night and not getting the ball into their forward 50 is going to be a bigger issue than dealing with what happens when they do.
The if he stays fit part is a pretty major issue though and with multiple preseason injuries already as a reminder, how much can you trust it? No good if he averages 105 for the first month and then misses a month.
I think ultimately it's going to come down to the rest of your side, if you've take a fair few risks elsewhere, Heeney makes more sense, if De Goey is one of your only real risks, then he's got the upside.
