Grundy vs macrae. Leaning more towards macrae and going with rookie ruck...
Grundy plays the dogs round 1, takes English to the cleaners every time - although Stef Martin there now could help.

Last 4 scores v dogs : 179, 174,160 & 152.

Round 2 v blues - last 4 scores : 127,141, 113 & 154

Having said that I like Macrae also.

Personally, I am picking both.

Currently have both but am considering a similar move to yourself with the rookie rucks showing up.

If Flynn is picked as a sole ruck and Hunter plays round one then I think you follow the rookies and go with Macrae.

I might do something similar if the above happens and turn Grundy into either Oliver or Steele.

Grundy had a pretty poor year last year. We thought he was injured for the second half of it, with him barely being able to get airborne some weeks. We had that period last year with 4 games in 13 days with interstate trips between each and he rucked every game, even though one of those games was against Adelaide and we have 4 ruckmen on the list. Apparently though, overwork wasn't the issue and he wasn't carrying a niggle. It was that he didn't like hub life or something.

Sure am looking forward to new coaches next year.

Anyway.... Grundy had a down year last year, was the point of the rant. I'm hoping he'll outperform this year.

Lloyd vs Danger
Who is the must have in their respective lines, assuming you can only select one of them?
Danger, more mid time suggests upside to his value. Further, not going him leave 1-2 choices only 50k cheaper, Lloyd down to someone is 100k.

Caldwell + Jordan Clark
Vs
Heeney + Nikolas Cox
Caldwell and JC. None of these 4 a keepers in my view, NC score was poor, Caldwell and JC should each make you money.

???

Heeney has averaged 94 in his last 4 seasons

bit harsh to call him a bust
heeneys role is a lot worse and cox is not an accumulator. Heeney average last year was inflated because he played North and Adelaide. Not to mention the durability issues and reduced preseason

fair enough

which opponents inflated his average in the other 3 seasons then ?

81 out of 88 games in 2016-2019

First 4 games missed in 2017 were for glandular fever

think I have posted this before 🤔

In what order would you rank these guys:

Danger, Oliver, Steele, Macrae?
I'm going to factor in positional value...

1. Danger - Has the most upside and as a forward could be 15 points clear of the next best.
2. Macrae - New rules, proven scoring, proven durability.
3. Steele/Oliver - Much of a muchness, Oliver more proven but has the injury concern (a couple) over the preseason. I can't say I love the rules for either of them.

Thanks for that Wogi. Another one for you - I had put a line through N Cox but I see you seem to still rate him. Are you planning on selecting him or would you advise to go up to say a H Young for an extra $100k?
Will depend greatly on my overall structures, whether Clark is even picked and if Duncan is playing if he is. I'm still happy to have Cox on field personally though but I'll be attempting to have as few defender rookies as possible so if I think there is another option on field for cheaper I'd save the money.

Lloyd vs Danger
Who is the must have in their respective lines, assuming you can only select one of them?
Danger is arguably underpriced, Lloyd is probably overpriced. Both had issues in preseason but Danger played and Lloyd didn't. Rule changes probably help Lloyd more but Danger has become pretty good at leadup touches on the outside also.

I think Danger slightly but it really depends on structure. Danger as your only forward premium to me isn't as important as Lloyd if you've got 5 premiums and think he remains in his own tier because otherwise you're locking in your one and only upgrade and having no flexibility towards any other guys who break clear.

What order do we see Hunter/Flynn/Meek in ?
1. Flynn - Clear for me, if he's picked round 1 he's their #1 with only bad play forcing him out. Briggs was very good on the weekend so if he isn't picked it says it all.

The other two depend but...

2. Hunter - Marshall should be out a few weeks and it's very common to have setbacks with his injury type, Ryder article makes it sound like a month. He looekd solid and McKernan is really a backup ruck so he'd be #1.

3. Meek - Looked like possibly the best player of the 3 but Darcy is a legitimate threat, if picked alongside each other it's probably going to be a 50/50 share, if only Meek picked and Darcy is fit, solid sign, but if he's not fit then it could be a one and done pick. I think Meek takes the spot though if he gets the chance but right now he's got the worst JS of the group and probably the worst scoring potential if that JS firms of playing alongside Darcy. As I said though, he impressed me the most of the 3 but all 3 were good. Meek is the one I'd like Sydney to try and trade for first in the o***eason :)

I don't see the value in Heeney, his price isn't changing much if he gets to 94 and I think the case for him not doing it is stronger this year. Sydney are a weak side, his role has been bad in the preseason and all the chat from coaches supports that as his role. Wait and see and if he gets midfield time, then pounce but to me he's probably going to be a rollercoaster 90s type of scorer. Will have games like the weekend against most of the stronger sides I imagine.

Can't see how their is no value in him to be honest.

A 94 ppg average player is priced at approx $ 507 k player.

Heeney is priced at $ 454k so their is a $ 50 k saving right their and then.

Seems like value to me 🤔

Maybe I am just getting dumber day by day.

I would be stoked if he was to average 90's at his starting price , and be prepared to ride the ups and downs over a 22 game season.

Tobias probably breaks at some point , JDG will break at some point , Bailey , Ryan , Phillips provide interest or just wait to the current priced premiums to drop.

He won't move much from that starting price though is more what I was saying and I don't think 94 is the likely score this year, his role is genuinely worse this year through two games and from the coaches mouth (avoiding the pun). He might be great but his durability record is not good, especially getting injuries and playing through. Mostly though I don't like the role in a team that is more than likely closer to bottom 4 than the 8.
