You have to have the ~$50K sitting around though, and be comfortable and confident enough in picking Cox.
Which are probably two things I'm not sure I'll have personally.
I've tried to make sense of the order of games. Most will already have Koschitzke. Reid, Cox and Sharp are possible back ups. You could cut Ridley down to Houston or Duggan or a very speculative Aliir for the cash. Taranto to Caldwell. Steele down to Titch. The possibilities are endless. o_O

Yeah down back because I don't like the rookies there. Though I see you already have young filling a similar role down back.

Instinctively I feel like I'd want to get you one more premo by sacrificing the 270k players and one of the fully-priced mids. Something like young, Oliver, fantasia for Daniel, rookie, dusty. But whether that rookie appears is a fair question. And presumably you have those players pencilled in for 80s, which would have it about 280 to 260 in favour to your lot. So what do I know? Those midpricery XvYs always seem a bit dodgy though.
Yeah it's an interesting one and an idea I would be pretty happy to go with if I felt like Dow was a viable selection at M6, I'd just do Taranto to Dow and Fantasia to Dusty. I just don't know if Dow is a good selection, does Dow have anything in him to score well? it's hard to know. The other mid rookies look a bit questionable for js, which isn't great when you consider that a few of the ones I have in already have questionable js.

I think I'm fairly set on the trio of Oliver, Macrae and JKelly - Taranto I'm somewhat unsure of and don't mind the idea of discarding him.

I'm pretty confident that there will be 2 rookie defenders.

With my current structure I'd rather not have 3 forward rookies on field and prefer 2. If there's only two defensive rookies I'm gonna stick my donut at D8 to start the year and pick an extra playing forward rookie over Treacy. I think that works better than sticking Fantasia down back and being more exposed for poor on field scores up fwd.

I'm starting to see Caldwell as my get out of jail card for rnd 1. I think he is a borderline pick but wouldn't be unhappy if he ended up in my team. I can cut a mid or forward if I need cash to fix a lack of rookies somewhere. I have Zerret and Steele in the mids and Phillips forward. Hopefully I won't have to.

This is me.
Cox can become a donut if i need it and the extra funds can help fund a Downie/Smith up to Bruhn if needed.
Mitchell will be there if he is named round 1 or I'm happy to take Kelly/Merrett.

Nice team, def light in forwards but thats were the rookies are so sound logic, not a fan of Mitchell early on and maybe Tyson to Clark?

I'm giving this more consideration, it does reduce some of the risk in the side and I don't necessarily mind paying up for Bruhn with his decent js if he's named for round 1, he was a mid as a junior and finding more than 11 disposals should be possible. 157k isn't cheap, but not horrible either. He doesn't have a great role but I feel like he's a better choice than Downie/Ely Smith if they're named with their very iffy js for 35-40k more.

I do think the new rules will help half-backs but in turn could lead to more tagging from the opposition, especially with someone like Daniel who is a highly damaging with his kick. He still should be a good pick, but it's something to be aware of with defenders this year if they'll be a lot better, I'm not sure the impact will be as big as some have said.

Oliver > Bruhn, Young > Caleb Daniel and Fantasia > Dusty is what I'm looking at.

My main concern is actually with Hayden Young, rather than Fantasia. I'm just not sure he's worth all that money with virtually no experience. Fantasia I think will be a good pick, but it's a risk I probably don't need to take once I'm already discarding Young, with structure not really allowing a smooth trade there.

Fantasia actually has not been able to play more than 5 games in a row for the last 3 seasons. One injury affected score and he’s a bust at that price.
Was also at Essendon for that period who have possibly the worst medical staff in the league.

Looking at their team you've got Daniher, Fantasia, TBC, Ambrose, Francis, Heppell, Hooker, Hurley, Laverde, Mosquito, Parish (iirc), Smith, Stringer, Zaharakis, Gleeson, Draper and Ridley who have all had significant injuries and/or missed significant time over that same window and that's just off the top of my head without delving into anything.

I’m not sure that makes Fantasia a better pick just cos he’s at Port.

Soft tissue injury history players notoriously struggle to get over them. We’ve seen guys like Rocky and Burton with soft tissue injury histories continue to have soft tissue injuries whilst at Port for example.
