Anyone looking to chase Tex’s massive break even this week? He is really going to tempt me this week, I know it.
I want to however I'm really hesitant to trade in my favourite player as I don't want to get extra ****ty when our forward line delivery sucks and he can't get into the game.
Pros to Tex:
- Fixture.
GC, North, Freo, Hawthorn, GWS are our next 5 games. We should be relatively competitive in all of those which should at least give our forward line a little bit of supply, whether it's good is the big question.
GC I imagine he'll likely get Collins who is pretty decent, held Kennedy to 2.2 and nothing to gain by looking at his match up v North.
North are without Tarrant which has to help, no idea who is playing in his stead as I only really plan to watch North once this year (unless we play them twice).
Freo have been pretty undersized down back for a while now. McDonald was made to look like a star in round 1 against Hamling who went out, not sure who is next in line after him.
Hawks will have the Frost match I imagine. His speed might be alright against Tex on the lead however Riewoldt managed to kick 4 on him on the weekend. Held Wright to a goal but Wright is pretty unproven.
GWS should be a Davis matchup which will probably be pretty tough but with how GWS are playing, maybe we're a chance to be competitive against them.
- Form. With him rolling the way he is, we're looking to kick it to him a lot and Frampton is a bit of a non factor as a second tall. He looks in great shape which showed with his 4 tackles which were all HTB and shots on goal.
- Class. He's a great kick both on goal and around the field which is a positive when it comes to SC numbers.
Cons to Tex:
- Reliant on opportunity from the midfield. He's spent the past couple of years starved of opportunity and when it comes in, it's a bomb on top of his head or something that goes about 5ft over his head. Walker is a terrible pack mark, great lead forward but Adelaide's midfield has typically struggled to kick it within a 10m radius of our forwards in the last, let alone to their advantage. Going on this, the delivery inside forward 50 was pretty poor against Sydney. Walker may have kicked 6.3 but 4 of those goals came from his tackling and HTB calls which was massive for his score. Great to see however I'm not banking on Walker's defensive tackling earning him many shots on goal either.
- Key forward. They're super hot and cold, two of his hot games come in scores that will only account for 1 and 2 prices rises respectively. Key forward in a pretty crap team (not going to call us anything other than that for a few more games yet).
- He's not a premium. You're spending a trade to make some cash and given he's got about 180k on your base priced rookie, you're really requiring him to put up some alright scores in the process to make giving up the 180k short term worth it.
- Age/history. Turns 31 and has only played a full season once in 2019. you're going back to 2012 when he actually put up premium numbers but it's a different Walker and a different Adelaide now. 2017 he put up an 86 average but that only included 5 scores over 100.Since 2017 he's only gone over 100+ once in each season.
