West Coast players attended a night club last week breaking covid rules.

Club statement:
The West Coast Eagles are aware that some players attended a Leederville nightclub last Saturday and are continuing to investigate the matter.

Given the current environment and the peak in COVID-19 cases in Perth the club is devastated that some players opted to go out publicly as they have done.

Senior coach Adam Simpson, in quarantine under AFL Health and Safety Protocols, said: “I am furious and disappointed with the actions of these players.”.

The club has gone to great lengths in educating the players around the need to adhere to club guidelines and it is beyond disappointing that they have put themselves in this situation.

It is particularly disheartening given the strain on player availability at this stage of the season.

At the earliest opportunity the club will meet with the players concerned.
No one to blame but themselves it seems, game on.

Mare of a season just keeps getting worse.

Darcy I'll cop, that was a risk I was willing to take.

But really didn't expect blokes like Bontempelli, Martin and Stewart to be somewhat PODish and to be punished for picking blokes with typically outstanding durability.

Running with SDK or Perez at D6 and McComb or Ward at M8.
Gonna be another brutal week.

Jackson Nelson & Josh Rotham are 2 of the players involved.

Toby Greene is the best small player, one on one, in both the air and at ground level, in whole League. If they put MDB on Stewart, he'll rack up 20 marks. Greene won't play lockdown on Stewart. There is a difference between lockdown, and making accountable.

Edit - you never said Greene would play lock down on Stewart. The rest holds though.
It was a rhetorical question, they're not going to use Greene as a defensive forward, that's just stupid.

We know footy players aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed but this is a whole new level of moronic behaviour. I can’t even fathom what they were thinking given the repercussions & our current situation with so many out already … of course they were going to be noticed at a nightclub & the media were going to find out.
Just mind blowing stupidity 🤦🏻‍♂️

"If" he can get himself running & progress from there?

That sounds like he's little chance. He's a fair chance of getting turned into Docherty for me.
Yep, that language doesn't sound all that encouraging to me, that, coupled with my season being at real risk of drifting off into mediocrity is probably enough for me to pull the trigger on trading him.

In the Nick of time: Pies trio back in action after flu scare

Nick Daicos is one of three Pies to recover from the flu in time for Saturday's clash against Richmond

COLLINGWOOD trio Nick Daicos, Brayden Maynard and Taylor Adams are all available to face Richmond tomorrow after returning to training at the AIA Centre on Friday.

All three missed Thursday's main training session due to the flu – non-COVID related – along with Reef McInnes, who was left out of the 26-man squad to face the Tigers.

Collingwood expects Daicos, Maynard and Adams to suit up on Saturday after all three completed the captain's run and were ticked off by the high performance department.

Is it me or are there more players out with illness this year compared to other years?
Not counting Covid, just others like gastro and other unspecified illnesses.
Probably a cover story to hide the fact that they may have “flu like symptoms” but not tested positive for Covid. I’m assuming this is a strategy to avoid unnecessary concern 🤔
