Doesn't mean I'm right to be, but I'll be happy if people trade Hewett. Seems a real waste in the middle of upgrade season, even if he is out for 2 more.
What if he's out for 5 more? If it's just 2, you definitely keep. Personally, he doesn't really allow me to get anything more than I was planning this week anyway.

I guess it's the unknown. I've got a feeling he'll be out for longer. But in my case, if I'm keeping him this week, I'm deciding to keep him till he gets back no matter how long it is.

What is a torn calf muscle?
Your calf muscles (the gastrocnemius and soleus) are in your lower leg, behind your shin bone. They extend from behind your knee down to your heel. These muscles can tear if you perform sudden movements that severely overstretch them. Calf muscle tears can be partial or complete (rupture).

Your calf muscles are at especially high risk for tears because of their location between two joints — the ankle and the knee. These muscles also have very tight muscle fibers, making them prone to overstretching injuries.

Smal Tear 3 weeks, makes Hewitt return round 10 as listed, any complications in rehab leads to more time missed. If Odriscall (loop) doesnt score above 75 might move Sideways Trade on Hewitt.

#35 Gastro this week, Coach mentioned foot soreness last week hinted at possible rest, half expecting a late out.
He doesn't have a tear though, he has a cork (ruptured blood vessel).

While this doesn't sound as bad, we can go back to Jeremy Howe's corked thigh a few years back which just kept bleeding and eventually he had to go under the knife after copping another knock on it in the following pre-season to drain it which kept him out for longer. Hewitt's corked calf might not be that bad, but I'm concerned about it continuing to bleed enough for the fluid to be draining down into his achilles two weeks later.

Gee this Hewett situation is escalating quickly based on a SC feed tweet. The official word out of the club at this stage is one week still isn’t it?
There was a Tweet that he wouldn't be back till next week (GWS Rd.9), then another one that it would be the week after (SYD R.10), and there's one round (COLL R.11) between then and their bye (RD 12.), which if they want to make sure he's right you wonder if they might hold him of until after their bye.

That's just posing the question. The club said he'd only be out for 1 week last week too. Not saying they lied, but it's a tricky injury by the sounds of it. Either way, the tweeted estimation by the club or anyone might be irrelevant as it was last week.

All reports so far have been from sources with not much credibility which makes them hard to trust. Would like to see something a bit more official from the club or an actual journalist to back up that rumour

Giants assistant coach Steve Johnson expects Toby Greene will keep Tom Stewart contained in GWS v Geelong match

After a best-on-ground performance, Tom Stewart is set to receive a bit of extra attention from the Giants in round 8.

A former Geelong great has warned his old club that Tom Stewart will not have free reign for the second consecutive week as the Cats prepare to face the Giants.

Stewart enjoyed a career-best game despite Geelong’s loss to Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium in round 7, collecting 40 disposals, 14 marks and 962 metres gained.

But Cat-turned-Giant Steve Johnson, who is the forwards coach at Greater Western Sydney, said Stewart would be held accountable when Geelong play in Canberra on Saturday.

“Tom’s been one of the best defenders in the competition, pretty much since his inception into the Geelong team,” he said.

“We’ll for sure talk about how we can curtail his influence, he was best on field in a narrow loss last week and that’s form you can’t ignore.

Johnson said there was a “strong chance” Greene could be tasked with keeping Stewart accountable

“We do our research on the key defenders of the opposition that we’re coming up against and you don’t want to be beaten by what you know.

“While we want our players to play to their strengths, we’ve also got to be aware of what the opposition players can bring to their team as well.”
Good. Need Stewart to drop in price by R14.

Was thinking the same, but if you loop with Hewett and get a bad (E) makes it harder to use Hewett as captain if Neale goes large.
Yep, I'm thinking the % play is to actually pick someone decent as E for the loop so it's likely you can bank their score with relative confidence and access Neale's VC score.

I'm likely to use Owens as C with Brodie as E meaning McComb will just sit on the bench tonight with no E.

Bryce Cotton for the Perth Wildcats also had excessive bleeding from a corked thigh that required surgery and ended his season last year.... So Hewett's injury is a concern.

This is making the assumption that Geelong will even use Stewart as a lockdown defender on Greene. He's been starting on a wing the last couple of weeks and pushing back as the spare man. They're going to use Greene as a defensive forward? They should have brought De Boer in for that whose been doing that kind of role when he's been in their team.
