Hi all. Me dropping in again with no actual SuperCoach insight, but more general and my own fantasy cricket comps I run.

For those unaware, my scoring is generic

BATTING
Runs x S/R / 100 = points

BOWLING
Wicket 20pts
ECON: 2pts per ball - runs conceded = Econ Bonus (so 12rpo = breakeven, 8rpo = 4pts per over bonus)

FIELD
10pts catch, 20pts stumping

Anyway, with the above scoring who would you have the overall top 5 (not trades, just who you have

I currently have

1) Stoinis (was Marsh lol, I wasted $82 of our $200 budgets on him pre injury)
2) Abbott
3) Sams
4) McDermott
5) Darcy Short

Any thoughts???????
-----------------

General team thoughts for SC

ADELAIDE: Matt Short is an easy fade. Won't bowl with their team lineup. CdG is a fun one depending on how they lineup.

BRISBANE: Give me all the Bazley in the world atm. Genuinely bit of both kinda guy. Unsure if the price and byes work but if you can get him go for it. Huge fan from his ODD form.

HOBART: Don't discount Darcy Short yet. Also keep Wade in mind. Surely they open, and maybe they go back to 2017 form and average 100 partnerships each.

MELB REN: Sutherland is the biggest wildcard of the game. Could be amazing, probably be crap. Who the hell knows. Weirdly deep batting now with their adds. I would fade a few of them who could bat between 3-6.

MELB STARS: Here are your value bats as mentioned above. So little batting on this list, all playing. Figure out who is batting 3 and 4 and profit. Stoinis could easily be the #1 player in the game if things work out correctly and he bowls 3 a game and bats top 4.

PERTH: Another cheap bat slot. I have it as

Bancroft
Inglis
Faf Du Plessis
batter
Turner
Hardie
Agar
4 more bowlers (either 3 pace and Hatz or 4 pace). I would guess Hatz, Tye, Beh, JRich as a base but Tymal Mills and Kelly will fit in)

That batter slot could/should easily be a Hobson or Connolly role. Keep an eye on it.

SYD 6ERS: Abbott could be the highest scorer as well if fit. Bowl death, bat maybe up to 6 with their team. Field at long off/on. Get him in when fixtures allow

SYD THUN: Chris Green should be absolute money given how their team is designed. Best spinner, lock games, been a good bat last few weeks for NSW. Give him a look.

As much as I like de Grandhomme generally, I’m not sure he’s a great pick at his price:

He has taken 4 wickets in total in his last 11 series. That’s 60 matches.

He has only averaged more than 22 runs once in his last six series.

He predominantly comes in at number 4 to 6.

His last T20 match was in January 2021.

This will very much depend on the XI the Strikers put out. If it looks as though he is in line to bowl 3+ overs I think it's a good pick. If it looks as though he is the 6th bowler and batting 5 or 6 then pass.

I definitely agree with that. The thing that surprised me most is that he’s seldom bowled even in the NZ comp, which I would suspect is no better (and probably worse) than the BBL.

Got me curious

89 matches for Auckland Aces
Bowled in 52 Innings
114.4 Overs
38 Wickets , ER 9.25

Used a bit more for the Warwickshire Bears

Dizzy might not have looked at Big Bash Board before signing him.

Did a bad heel injury in the Lord's Test in June as well.

T20I

Matches 41 (bowled in 21)
53.3 overs , 12 wickets , ER 8.62

Might manage a 40-70 on a DGR (if he does get a wicket) and reasonable price to use as a trade out for Round 2 (especially if people prefer to bench their cheaper 🌟 players)

I feel as though Matt Short and CDG can be looked at similarly. We know short will open, and CDG will be in the middle order, probably at 5.

A bad result for both would be if strikers run 5 frontline bowlers. This will be slightly better for Short if they run 4 pace + Rashid. Imo, neither are good options in this scenario.

If strikers run 4 frontline bowlers.
If it is, Rashid, Boyce + 2. Best case scenario for CDG. Still good for Short however. They’d split the 4 pretty evenly, CDG maybe more likely to get the bulk.

If it’s Rashid + 3 pace. Best case scenario for short. Genuinely a chance of getting 4 overs but more than likely 2-3. Very awful deathride for non-owners. The setup still good for CDG.

The fact that we won’t know the lineup before stars/thunder play makes it difficult.

Is their room for Handscomb in the MR side if he doesn't wicket keep ? ( CA XI captain complicates things)

Assuming they play :-

2 Quicks + 2 OS Spinners
DreRuss (first 4 games)

Leaves room for 6

Finch
Marsh - injury cloud , didn't play for Fremantle last weekend
Harper (WK) ?
Maddinson
Wells

Other could be any of Fraser-McGurk , Handscomb , Harvey , Prestwidge or Sutherland

Evans - injured (Moody tbc)
Guptill - available Game 5
Harris - Test Squad
Kellapotha - OS

Hard to see Sutherland not given a go early given how well he is travelling with bat and ball this season
