Well then, there goes my first trade out before the season starts! Just when I was starting to feel comfortable with my team!!
Makes sense as he did request to go back to qlds for family reasons. Luckily for you they've announced it now and it wasn't a nasty surprise come round 3 lol.

Devil's advocate for those intending to loop Gilkes:

What is your plan if he scores under 15 points in the first match against the Stars?

Will you look at anyone else (a single game player e.g. Wade or Philippe) or will you back him in?

Interested to hear some thoughts
I don’t currently have Gilkes in my side but if I was looping him then I’d have a plan (probably billings) to put on field if he scores under 15. If you don’t have a plan to keep him off field for a sub 15 point score it’s silly to loop him imo (unless doing for VC/C purpose). The trickier situation imo is a score around 25-30.

If he scores poorly, it essentially then becomes a SGR for Gilkes, so Gilkes v Wade/Phillipe in which case you’re taking the better player

The keepers in general are doing my head in. Still no idea what I’m doing with them haha

I think it will be as much about where he is batting as his score. If he opened and other contenders for that spot didn’t kill it, I would risk the second game. If he is batting lower I would punt on an SGR keeper.

How are you lining up with the keepers atm? Seems to be the big issue of the pre season so far

It’s still an issue. I was settling on Gilkes with a Billings back up plan. That was connected to another loop I was using Renshaw as backup for, but those plans need to change. I think I would now like to just pay up and try and make Philippe / Billings loop work if I can. That would mean switching Gilkes down to a $62.5k batter.

Philippe is a tough one, I feel we will be paying either 120k or 200k for him by round 5 if we don't pick him now!

For those who I have made very DGR focused and are looking to go overs on Thunder players, here are some figures to consider from last year's BBL. They are the average if we sorted each team's SC score from highest to lowest for each match. So the highest is the average of all the highest scores for each team in every match and the lowest is the average of the 11th highest scorer for each team on average. I have split it between winning teams and losing teams to get a sense of the split, because on average the winning team takes almost 60% of the scoring pie.

We can actually average the magic 55 number with 9 players from the winning team, however, they need to be the top 9 scorers on average! When it comes to the losing team, we can't have more than 5 players to score similarly on average per player.
I did a similar thing a couple of seasons back but not by team just ranking all 22 players.
And found the same thing only ranks 1 to about 4/5 scored over 50+ in a game.
Good to see the same thing still holds up looking at last season and when breaking it up per team.
