Hey Rowsus,

Do you reckon I should do this? Next week?

Unfortunately I have J.Martin to offload after his LTI. However I have a bit of cash up my sleeve.
Also have Minson in which in hindsight was a silly move and I probably paid too much for him.
Yes I know he was up against the best Ruck combo in the comp but maybe should have waited.
So my plan (next week - depending on how they both go) was trade Minson to Mumford which would leave me just enough
cash to upgrade J.Martin to Fyfe or Cotchin. Leaning towards Fyfe.
Yes as mentioned I will probably wait a week but only issue is I am thinking Mumford will go big this week against St Kilda.
Or I could just hold the cash and trade Martin to another rookie and wait for a Selwood or Pendles.
My concern is after an ordinary 2152 start I need to get in another Premo mid or FWD
Any suggestions appreciated.

B: Mitchell, McVeigh, Swallow, Hurn, Langdon, Laidler (McDonald, Langford)
M:Ablett, Libba, Murphy, Beams, Dunstan, Tyson, Ellis (Michie,J.MARTIN)
R: MINSON, Sandi (Thurlow, Currie)
F: Danger, Martin, Pav, Caddy, Higgins, Rohan (McDonough, JKH)
Although my name isn't Rowsus, I'll give you my opinion on what you should do :)

I'm estimating you have at least $230k in the bank. If I was you I would be looking to downgrade Martin to either Polec or Cunningham. And then upgrading Rohan / McDonough to a mid $450k forward, such as Parker / Mitchell / Rioli / Chapman / Gunston / Zorko / Hale / Breust.

I'd prefer to have Polec in my team than Cunningham, but you might need to get the extra cash to upgrade to the forward that you want.

Thanks MarkM for your response.

I have since noticed that I have one mid missing in my line up above and that is Polec..lol.
So Cunningham I guess in your response is the one I should look at downgrading to.
Yeah I am not sure but you have made a good point. With mid-pricers Caddy and Higgins along with rookies Rohan, McDonough I do need another fwd premo.
Lucky I have another week to watch before making a decision.

Hi Rowsus

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but what was your thinking in not starting with either Ablett/Pendlebury or even both? It looks like it has set you back seeing how bad Libba did as your top mid - will you be making corrective trades to bring one of them in or will you stick with your research?

Hey Guys,

So it was always in my plans to utilize 2 trades this week, but i nailed the rookie picks and i think that now i can be a little more aggressive with these trades. I kept around 200k spare for these trades and was just wondering what you think about this trade.

Daisy -> D.Tyson
J.K.H -> Zorko / LeCras

More likely leaning towards Zorko, seeing i don't think LeCras will kick a bag every week. IMO Daisy was poor and won't be scoring well for at least a few weeks, this combined with poor Rookie forward choices has me leaning towards a early trade

Hello Guru Rowsus - a question for you. :)

Consider 2 players - Tyson @ 217k and Aish @ 187k.

Realistically, what avg (or how much higher avg) does Tyson have to have compared to Aish to make his increased price worth paying? Noting they are both bye 10 and have good js.

Cheers in advance.

PC
If they are to make $200k profit by their bye, Tyson needs to average 89.4 and Aish 83.5.
If they are to make $220k profit by their bye, Tyson needs to average 94.0 and Aish 88.0.
So I will say the answer to your question is 6. Tyson needs to average 6 higher than Aish to make him more worthwhile.

Hey Slammer,
I'm a bit concerned about the amount of cash on your bench, but that's done now.
I wouldn't be sidewaysing Minson, unless you have changed opinion, and think he will no longer be a top 4 or 5 Ruck.
I think I'd take Martin down to Gleeson or Cunningham. You could then turn McD into Rioli, as an option.

Hi uR, it hasn't been mentioned in any depth.
I just wanted to try a money-ball approach. But totally money-ball, not Ablett, Pendles, Danger, then money-ball. I'm not overly concerned right now. I certainly won't be pulling my team apart to try and squeeze Ablett or Pendles in now, that would be suicide. Libba will score better than his 79, and the Ablett's, Watson's and Selwoods really can't be expected to keep scoring 140's and 157's!!!

Hi Stdlol, welcome aboard.
It seems strange to pick a team with the plan to make 2 trades after round 1.
I think if you've nailed the Rookies, then just hold fire this week.
Don't get sucked in by Lecras, if Zorko shows something again in round 2, then he's a much better pick.

I'm no rowsus either but I agree with him. You paid for big Will for a reason. and dare I say its because you believe on average you will make more points up on other rucks. He may be down but he will bounce back. He doesnt have to travel to perth and play 3 rucks on his own first up for the rest of the year.

HO to advantage is apparently 3 points. So ordinarily you can safely assume at least 60 free points before he does anything else.

Are North pretenders again, or are they going to start living up to their billing? Preferably starting this weekend. If I hold Ziebell and he goes sub 50 again I will be less than impressed.

Can you shed any light on Kangas mysterious form Rowsus? Very hard to read.

Rowsus scored 2180, I with Pendles and Ablett scored 2133. I also have Dangerfield, McVeigh, Mitchell, and Minson. So I think Rowsus is fine. I've always wanted to try that approach with the theory behind it but never have the stones. Good luck lol

Hi sang,
nope, I can't explain it. The jury is definitely out on them, and they need to perform, and perform over a number of weeks, to live up to their preseason hype and hopes. It has happened in the past, that teams have had a scratchy start to the season, then pulled themselves together. The thing I didn't like was, they looked like they should have lost by 5 more goals, the way they played. It's a long way back from there!
If Ziebell stinks it up again, cut your losses, even if you downgrade him to a rookie on the bubble.

Wait one more week mate. Chances are Daisy could come good so stick it out. One more week gives you a better opportunity to assess all your players and then go in one direction or the other. If you do trade next week, I'd either upgrade Daisy to Cotchin (if you can) or Muphy/Beams (if you don't have one), otherwise downgrade to Tyson and try and get Rioli in over Zorko and LeCras (maybe wait an extra week on that one, and you may also be able to get a Cloke/Petrie with a nice discount at that time).

Rowsus, my current team looks like this:

DEF: Mitchell, Hanley, Enright, Suckling, Langford, Langdon (McDonald, Georgiou)
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Michie, Polec, Dunstan (Ellis, Cunningham)
RUC: Goldstein, Sandilands (Thurlow, King)
FWD: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Pavlich, Higgins, Rohan (McDonough, Kennedy-Harris)

I currently have $170,300 in the bank.
The only trade I'm considering this week is McDonough to Caddy. My reasoning is I believe my forward line is exposed having to play a rookie that will most likely only score 40-60, whereas Caddy looks to be good selection and a potential F6 keeper. I also believe McDonough will be dropped this week which is a problem.
Next round, if Thomas and Suckling under perform again, I will consider trading Thomas to Tyson and Suckling to Swallow (assuming Swallow and Tyson perform well this week.)
What are your thoughts? And do you have any other suggestions as to what trades I should consider?

Rowsus, is Treloar the real deal?
Treloar is a very good player. I think the better question is, is GWS the real deal?
Coming into the season it seemed like they didn't have the structure, or depth to have a 110+ Midfielder. If you think GWS have really come on in leaps and bounds, and can win around 8 games this season, then Treloar may be woth a risk. If you think they've improved, but might only win 4 or 5 games, I'd leave him alone. Myself, I'd err on the side of caution, and leave him alone, but I can understand why some are taking the risk with him.
