Why wouldn’t they be going back to Mummy if Preuss misses?

Don’t really see the point of retaining him if he doesn’t provide cover for Preuss when he’s injured or due for a rest.

When Jacobs missed last season, it was Mumford who replaced him.

If the injury keeps Preuss out for four rounds of the season or more then I strongly doubt they will pick Flynn to ruck against Gawn and Grundy during round 3 and 4.
Mumford only replaced Jacobs because Flynn was coming back from a knee, not sure its as clear cut now he's fully fit, especially with Mumford moved to the rookie list and being talked about only being required if absolutely necessary when they gave him that rookie contract.

Expect they are on the lookout for a mature Ruck to take as a SSP now, they've got Flynn a 35 year old Mumford and an injured Preuss and Briggs surely not sufficient.

I wouldn't be surprised if they knocked on Jackson Trengove's door - kills two birds with one stone in terms of being a backup at the KPD and R spots.

So Preuss needs a shoulder reco and is out 4-5 months.

Tom Hickey anyone?

p.s. Yes I feel a little dirty for even thinking about it...

p.p.s Marshall out for probably 8 weeks minimum with a stress reaction in his foot so there goes the ruck backup - the joy just keeps flowing.
Hickey isnt any better than Sinclair for mine, think that will chop and change all year long, just pick Gawn and Grundy and save the mid priced merry go round that stuffed me last year.

Want to see the pre season game but I wouldnt be surprised if they play English forward, he seemed to do it more and more the longer the year went last season and Stef is really a Ruck or nothing at this stage of his career, if you got say a 70/30 split early Stef probably does enough to be a viable R2.

I've got to be honest and say I think Stef is closer to being the latter unfortunately in 2021. Also bound to be sharing ruck duties as with English as much as anyone else will, as not even Bevo is dumb enough to curtail the development of a kid who will be a gun ruckman not too far in the distant future by playing him mostly forward.

Well Preuss saving me from him at R3 I guess and Marshall, who I never liked starting outside the cover, becomes the downgrade target I always preferred him as...

Don't like Hickey. He's barely better than Sinclair in the ruck and not as good around the ground, they're both terrible so I expect they go in and out when they get smashed and a change is forced and given it's Horse and his fascination with tall people we'll probably go with both and lose the ruck anyway...

ROB needs to improve his ruckwork, significantly, and he'd be right in the mix. English in the same bag with a Martin pain in the butt lurking as well, personally I'd still be surprised if Martin plays outside injuries/rest and maybe big ruck pairings, don't see why they'd stall the development of English for a guy who at his peak wasn't a markedly better ruckman than English and who at this point isn't close to him around the ground except it's Bevo and Bevo does things like that.
