He looks to be best 22 and is cheap. Sometimes it's that simple. He also looked very good and played a better role than Larkey, who is the deepest forward. I think he'll score fine and make cash but be a slow grind.
The negative is that you've got CCJ and even Free breathing down his neck.
Based on their preseason and their list I'd be surprised if they don't play Xerri and Goldstein. They're leagues above their other ruckmen and Goldy is a better forward than all but Larkey in their KP stocks and Xerri honestly might be their next best in that regard.
Xerri is too good for the reserves and Goldy is even better and it gives them a genuine advantage against most sides, of which they have very few. Their midfield is by far their strongest unit as well so makes sense to consolidate on that area.
As mentioned, the threat is if Comben plays badly that CCJ and Free are both knocking on the door and AFL ready, both are more ruck and much lower potential prospects than Comben though so I actually don't think it's a huge threat. Comben actually looks like a forward playing there.

Only way Free would play is if he was 1st Ruck, hes really got nothing as a forward and is pretty poor around the ground, even CCJ was significantly better in the Ruck than up forward last year, don't think they really have a genuine option thats going to be taking Comben's spot personally.
The spot that's up for grabs is between Xerri and CCJ I reckon and alot of North fans have been saying for weeks not to be surprised if CCJ is named, impressed Clarko on the track from all reports and took big strides in the VFL late last year.

Do what you can to increase the cash generation, especially in your rookies. Try to seek out a bit more value/mitigate risks in your premiums. Consider moving from 11 to 12 players over $500k.
Bonar, Goater, Sheezel - role and JS not great/confirmed. There are some popular cheaper d/m rookies you can bring in. Hopefully enough to move from 11 to 12 Premiums.
Lets just say that Heeney, under his current coach will never get the mid time he deserves. Select Rozee, Taranto, Conigilio, Butters, or seems like you like nth, there is a value pick at $420k.
Touk Miller did a hammy, be right to go round 1, but you can mitigate that risk with any of Brawyshaw, Petracca, through to Bont/Macrae.
Sure, 3 premo defenders is a bit heavy - you'd expect some change up in the top line from year to year. Consider selecting some value from Saad, Cumming, Young, Daicos.
To many cheap non-playing rookies. Dewar, Free, Gillbee, MDW, RW... 1 max. Normally R/F to allow Gawn in once he becomes a DPP. Have a read of the rookies thread and go from there, or a least slot in some higher value ones at 123k placeholders.

Just thought I would get something down on paper to come back to later and see how it's evolved.
I've read snippets of players seemingly going well on the track.
I'm sure when I realise Sam Draper is not a thing then the whole dynamic will change
