I feel like you should tell me how your trades this year are going before I decide whether this is a good or bad thing. ;)

You be the judge 😉

Obviously Young over Daicos in Rd2 was not great and trading Stewart at all turned out to be unnecessary, but I suspect everyone traded him. Pretty happy with the rest.

Truth be told, I was on this trip for the best part of the week. Probably comes with a bit of personal bias as I've own him for a couple of those 'hot' streaks. Upon further reflection, even though my intention at the time was exactly what you've quoted, 'catch his purple patch and cash out', it never panned out like I had planned and he ended up staying the course in my team, and not by choice.

The theory and plan is okay but I've learnt through 'hard' experience over the years that this type of decision is better left for the start of a season. I'm known to be stubborn at the best of times and I still fall for these traps every now and then, however, I can see them more clearly now which hopefully will prevent me from going back to that well.

I've convinced myself that boosting for Miller is a much better outcome in this scenario! :)
Yes, I have been unsuccessful on this kind of gambit every time I've tried it too, which probably colours my opinion of it. To argue against myself, it's probably as good a chance as you'll get mid-season to do it. Six weeks till his bye and then the chance to slingshot. But as you say, so much has to go right - the purple patch has to happen and then the stars have to align to allow you to capitalise.

I would say boosting for Miller is very sound play this week.

How does everyone view Lloyd vs the other defenders ?

Looking at him this week just unsure if he may regress a bit toward mid to high 90s from here, similar to how he scored last season.

Day, Sicily and Sinclair are the ones that I may ‘miss out on’ if I were to go Lloyd.

Really not liking Ginbey out of my side but main other option is Chandler, but want to do:
Mckenna -> Mitchell/Wagner
Chandler -> W.Day
Next week.

Would anyone change the current trades this week of:
Baker -> Johnson
Ginbey -> T.Miller

I've already used 2 boosts and not really keen to use another but am considering Constable -> Roberts for cash gen.

Is there a way to keep Ginbey if looking to move McKenna + Chandler on next week anyway who have lower BE's than Ginbey this week?

If I did one this week instead of Ginbey and then Ginbey scores well or Mitchell not named it would mean I'm revising the next week trades anyway.

This is the team after current trades with above in mind for next week is it wiser to leave my current trades or keep Ginbey somehow this week?

My real conundrum is what to do with Bytel.

If he gets the sub vest again this week, he will bleed cash.
If I trade him out, I only get ~30k or so on my trade.

Caught in between 2 minds here :cautious:

Adam Simpson made reference earlier in the week that Ginbey could go back to earlier rounds of where he rotated (with another player mentioned, cannot remember who). It didnt say defensively overtly, however, thats where he did rotate. He did make a comment of not needing to be mids.

However, his cba’s have not changed a lot and his heatmap doesnt show a lot of defensive possessions in those rounds. Had hope he may have a sheezel look to him. Tried to find the comment however all I can see is him being managed.

Recheck honeyball and aflayer ratings. Former has a paywall on some of the Ginbey comments.
Thanks for this. Looks like it's behind a paywall but inferring from some comments it might be a shift to half back. Not terrible if that's the case

My preference is to keep Chandler unless the cash is really needed to upgrade, good draw and pushes up the ground very well, Ive traded Hollands over him this week for that reason.

Who did Geelong play in those 2 matches? :unsure:
Run of Sydney,Essendon,Adelaide and Richmond is pretty good for a 2nd key forward to be fair, not exactly quality defences to go up against, probably 2 or 3 bags in a month of footy coming.

Oliver, Laird, Neale, Miller, Bont for starters. I think Green is a top 10-15 mid at best but that could make him a reasonable M8 in your team and allows you to save a trade. I have the dilemma of do you keep Green or upgrade him to Neale/Miller?
Im in the same boat so im upgrading to touk since he has the good byes.

I think I'm going to go Cole/McKenzie to Johnson/Roberts and see how my various loops going before deciding on a 3rd trade in. Wasn't sold on Roberts but with Williams not named he's the next best downgrade..
Plan is to loop Jones in def and Johnson in mids, and then once I know their scores I'll work out if I trade in a defender (Sinclair), forward (Hawkins or Butters), or do Gibney to Miller.
Keen to hold Gibney though so lots to think on.

Cut him loose. Doubtful he makes the 22 with Steele back.

More likely to continue to be the sub and bleed cash as you mentioned.

For every new 'shiny' toy, there's always an 'ugly' duckling in a corner getting no attention.

One of the key fundamental in this game is balance, players have to drop in prices in order to facilitate those whose prices are going up. If we don't train our eyes to scan further down the list, we may miss some of the hidden gems which may be about to show themselves. Not all will come with a '100% money back guarantee' but if you can provide reasons for what has happened up until now and a compelling case for what is to come, then there lies one of the many keys to unlocking your season.

Flat out all week, and will be until right up to the games tonight. Just posting my team for any feedback on how I should proceed this week. I've got a few ideas but the rookie situation is tricky. 120K in bank. 4 Boosts left. Any input welcome. Re. tonights game. I guess I only need to work out who needs to go - Baker maybe - and any relevant rookies to bring in. Or whether Serong is worth it. Cheers. Screen Shot 2023-04-21 at 1.34.46 pm.png

Awfully similar TBH.

I went Stewart > Daicos, Steele > LDU, Fyfe > Ziebell, Constable (instead of Chessor, still got him) > Chandler, Mackenzie > JVR, and the same three this week. The only real difference has been you having Doc (to Stewart) and me gambling on Cunnington (now Tom Green).
