I think I might go a little safer this week.

Baker > Roberts
Cowan > Cogs

Next week with a boost I can go:
Jones, Greene, Callaghan > Touk + 2 of Wagner, Mitchell, Long or maybe early on Cincotta (?)

Cogs without Green you'd have to think goes decently. And unlikely to be too far behind Touk for scoring this week.
Allows me to choose between the best scores of Jones and Wilmot for D6 as well. And gives me another week of info on the likes of Wagner, Mitchell, Long and Cincotta to see if any of them begin to consolidate a spot.

Feels a little less exciting when everyone else is bringing in the likes of Touk, Neale and Stewart this week but hopefully it works out better in the long run. Essentially only bench rookies going this week, then one fielded rookie in Callaghan goes next week and I'm bringing in 2 premos in the process while keeping cash gen rookies with money to make in Ginbey, Wilmot, Phillipou, Mckenna and Ashcroft

Make sure you have a plan B for the Rookie OUTs in the case that 1/2/3 of them continue on their above average scoring as that would sway the decision to 'hold for at least another week'. Good to be forward planning but by the same token, don't allow yourself to fall in love too much with that plan. Wait for the end of the round to assess the lay of the land with regards to Rookies and upgrade targets, then map out your best path forward from there.

@mwross91

Just read your edit so my post above may be too overly cautious. Seems you've thought things through well and have the required crop of cash cows to continue upgrading. Well done...(y)

I also think we have to forward plan (with contingencies).
The same thinking can be said for those looking to boost this week and grab 2 of Roberts, Johnson and maybe going early on other rookies. Everyone looking at these rookies needs contingencies or a comfortable level of risk with the potential that these rookies either get dropped or made the sub in the next 2 weeks

I think by planning and going the safer option this week I put myself in less danger in the coming weeks as more rookie options come through

Flat out all week, and will be until right up to the games tonight. Just posting my team for any feedback on how I should proceed this week. I've got a few ideas but the rookie situation is tricky. 120K in bank. 4 Boosts left. Any input welcome. Re. tonights game. I guess I only need to work out who needs to go - Baker maybe - and any relevant rookies to bring in. Or whether Serong is worth it. Cheers. View attachment 55921
Out: R Ginbey, O Baker and J Menzie
In: M Roberts (via H Sheezel and C Rozee), M Johnson (via C Constable, J Ziebell and Gulden) and T Miller (via A Davey)

Opens up Def/mid link between Constable and Wilmot. Then switch Constable to the backline and Wilmot to the midfield to help cover Green. Rozee and Gulden move to the forward line in the process. A mid premium such as Miller comes in to strengthen the midfield and help cover Green.

Cut him loose. Doubtful he makes the 22 with Steele back.

More likely to continue to be the sub and bleed cash as you mentioned.
If he's cut completely, I might hold but if there's any sign of being a sub, out he goes.
I can't reach to Cogs sadly if I trade him, can only get as far as Ziebell.

My real conundrum is what to do with Bytel.

If he gets the sub vest again this week, he will bleed cash.
If I trade him out, I only get ~30k or so on my trade.

Caught in between 2 minds here :cautious:
I've got him too and don't see any value in trading now. All it takes is one injury and suddenly he's an appealing option again. If he gets that chance, great. If not, reassess at byes if he needs to be moved on to save donuts, after you're at full premo. Trading now just slows you down from generating cash for upgrades.

Butters is a good trade in. He'll go 125+ against the hapless Eagles this week, and suddenly make his price questionable to bring in... so you'll get some nice ownership leverage for a month or so.

Caveat, I'm playing it by the book with Neale/Laird.

Just for the record the best Butters has scored in 4 attempts since 2019 against the Eagles is 80. So you could take it that he is due for a big one or he just has one of those things with the Eagles and just goes average against them.

For every new 'shiny' toy, there's always an 'ugly' duckling in a corner getting no attention.

One of the key fundamental in this game is balance, players have to drop in prices in order to facilitate those whose prices are going up. If we don't train our eyes to scan further down the list, we may miss some of the hidden gems which may be about to show themselves. Not all will come with a '100% money back guarantee' but if you can provide reasons for what has happened up until now and a compelling case for what is to come, then there lies one of the many keys to unlocking your season.

The Shiney Toys are Touk Neale Cogs this week.

Yes, i am looking for those bargins. Will hold Green this week and resist the urge to bring in Touk.

Defence Sicily is the one i look at in a few weeks. Will be tempted with Day next week. Lets see what Sicily does this week end. A low return and he could be picked up for 500K by round 9.

MID Brawshaw could be stupid cheap in a few weeks. Wines could be a bargin for the run home at 400K Steele back from injury could be a bargin round 13.

Yeah personally I don't see much difference between Tom Green and the Serong, Libba, De Goey, Pendles, Merrett, Macrae & Steele (coming back from a nasty shoulder) types right now. Certainly not enough of a difference to justify a trade.

Green is definitely below the Big 5 you listed, but the fact there is still a lack of a standout M6-M8 tells me he is still well and truly in the mix for top 8.
Green potentially only 10 points per week behind Miller ( that’s 170 points over the 17 rounds remaining for each after byes)…
Add in the missing points from this week between Miller and Green ( say even 110)…
That means potentially 280 points Miller in front of Green from here…

goes to show not much week to week in averages but over the season in supercoach that 280 points could make the difference between top 1% finish and the rest…..

The issue with the numbers here (apart from rooke score not being counted) is that using Green is not the only way to get Touk (not even this round, but especially in a season-long comparison like this). PLUS Touk is 100k more expensive than Green, so you have to account for the alternative use you could have put that cash toward.

The only way I see a Green trade being worth it is if you predict him to be sub105 from here, PLUS you can do an upgrade 1-up/1-down this week and then have no other use for the spare trade. Otherwise you are doing a sideways instead of an upgrade, which means as of next week, when Green returns, you are a premo down on the teams that held.

That's why i am thinking Dawson and Day plus retaining Noah vs Stewart Wilkie and retaining Setterfield is close The setterfield onfield vs a baker type sways me but it's hard to miss Dawson The best bye comes into it might go stewart and wilkie what do you think?
Setterfield yes much better to hold for a few rounds than a rookie but will need to go at some point. Stewart should score around the same as Dawson and like Stewart ahead of Wilkie.

Have gone Long to M Johnson. Contemplating Tom Green or Mason Wood up to Touk. If Johnson can put a decent score tonight (75+ then i will probs keep Green and upgrade Wood. Either way, welcome Mr Miller into my team. :p Also thinking about Sicily to Ziebell. Handy for the link with Sheezel, and would likely keep both, hopefully as bench coverage after the byes. Then I could upgrade a Mckenna type to Day next week.

Then that only leaves me to get in Naicos, Laird, Bont, Dunkley, Gawn and a few lesser lights and I'm done.:LOL::LOL:
