Great stuff. Thanks.
Sorry McBags is McCluggage and Curnow is Charlie.

14 teams 12 keepers each so 170 off the board before start of draft everyone else back into pool - fair game with all the new players for 2024.

I will be 14th pick each time.
Oof that seems rough! Normally it would be a Banzai draft to be as fair as possible. Meaning you'd get picks 14, 15 (then back to normal order each round).

McCluggage definitely a keeper, meaning 2 flex spots for the rest. My order would be:
Heeney > Docherty > Guthrie > Cox

It's such a shame they couldn't make it work for a R0 start. Best 10 in R0, or 10 trades between R0 and R1. It doesn't feel right being able to see 8 teams play before picking our teams.
Totally agreed. They lacked imagination!
Round 0 = best 18, to keep the consistency.
A one off, lost if not used, issue of 12 trades from Round 0 to Round 1.
What they've done, has made it so around 70-80% of teams will have 16-18 players, from the same pool of 20-22 players. That's not great for the competition imo.
We used to get say 8-10 Rookies from a pool of say 14 in 75-80% of teams, but it's a whole different kettle of fish, to have such a large % of teams, with only maybe 12 players, with still quite a few of those 12 in common, separating them!!!

Sitting with 12 premos/keepers
Daicos, Sicily, Young, Bont, LDU, Brayshaw, Parish, N.Martin, Marshall, Grundy, D. Martin. Flanders.

Depends how N.Martin sets up I have visions on him being D4/5/6 by the end of the season with a positional change in the offing.
big call for NMartin to be a top defender. He will need to outscore the likes of Daicos, Sicily, Stewart, Sinclair, Young, Shezzel, Docherty, Ryan to make the top 8

I was just looking a last year’s winning team and now I am feeling a bit better about considering early bye players.

That team made 8 trades in the first 6 rounds. It also had just 9 players that were in the team in first round and final round. One of those players was a rookie and one was a mid pricer, whilst two others were traded out during the season then traded back in again. So that is just 5 premiums who were kept all season!

With four extra trades I can’t see any issue blowing a few early. I just need to nail those five premium season keepers! Maybe I’ll aim for six. :ROFLMAO:

What age do players generally become too great of a risk? I know there will always be a couple of exceptions, but I wouldn’t mind knowing the tipping point when form falls away or above average games start being missed for that player.

I am starting to see Libba appearing in a few teams. I realise that he is coming off a career best season, but he turns 32 this year, so I am seeing warning lights. How likely is he to stay on the park and repeat that form?

Similarly, Gawn turns 33 at the end of the year. Is he likely to play all games and go 110+?
I am thinking about both Andrew.Libba is likely to play less mid time with the introduction of Sanders but Gawn seems to be a lone wolf but really he is well and truly up to that with the steady ruck improvement of JVR

I won't be pulling my team apart, I'll have 2 teams ready to go. If Grundy and/or Gawn spud it or get injured, I'll be making changes I think but yr right, there's a difference between a poor game and something bigger but unlike other positions, these 2 guys are not easily changed out for a like for like replacement.
Having two teams is a good idea.

As things stand I am trying to remain flexible across the board. I expect I will have several midpricers that can be upgraded or more likely downgraded if I need to reshuffle. If I don’t get wedded to a particular structure of player, I think that will help in remaining flexible, and probably be wise independent of that.
