With great revenues, comes great expenses. Wait until Dan stings them with a new COVID tax for Land Tax.

City's bye in GW18 would likely be due to them winning the UCL and playing in the Club World Cup.

I dunno that it's unique. Many of the lower league stadiums are as bad or worse than that, and Luton were a 5th division club a decade ago.

It's a big jump to get the ground to PL standard for any of those clubs, especially financially, a year or two of cash at PL level will help.
Yes, you're right, Luton were in the Conference, but they were also in Div 1 in the last season before the PL was formed in 92. They voted for the PL to be formed.

They spent 10 seasons in the top flight between 82 and 92, and won the League Cup in 88.

It is just that their stadium was built in 1908 and has had houses built around it since and they can't upgrade it.

They are getting a new stadium in a few years anyway.

Rotation. They need squad depth to properly challenge in UCL. That's why I'm staying away from Martinelli at the start.
I think Jesus, Saka and one of Gabriel / Saliba are the safest options. Just a guess though.

Eventually we'll all need Salah though. Haaland will break down, and Mo will become the safest captain pick given Pool don't have UCL.

Some sources have it that Rice and Havertz will be the Central mids, replacing Xhaka (gone) and Partey (depth). This would be a new role for Havertz in the EPL, having been in the front 3 previously. But they see his skill-set as suited to a play maker, in a similar vein to Bruno Fernandes playing deeper role at United
But as vsberlina says, there will be a fair degree of rotation going on... Arteta trying to mimic Guardiola's approach Man City

Spent a bit of time working on a draft the past couple of days.

Things of note:
- Have never owned Salah and can't see that changing
- Have come around to plugging in 3 forwards. I can see Nkunku catching fire at some stage. Think he's a decent own to begin if you have the funds. He's a bit easier to hide away on the first couple of fixtures (if you choose) when distributing the funds more evenly.
- Wissa a nice 3rd forward on fixtures in case someone gets off to a hot start at or below his price. Basically the price doesn't rule anyone out. Most will go 4.5 ruling out these options and spending up elsewhere. Hard to argue doing that either.
- Newcastle and Villa are 2 teams that the fixtures turn for at GW5/6. Just think Villa's are better on the whole. Happy to start with Pau and watch Newcastle. Difficult to double up Botman and Trippier, and think the double up is a bit farfetched.
- Talk that Poch wants to run just 4 CB's in the Chelsea squad. See the 4.5 price tag as a cheap way into their defence. Could be Fofana or Colwill.
- No Trent. Can get to him through Bruno or Martinelli. Midfielders at 5.0-5.5 need sorting out over the defensive options imo.
- Emi Martinez placeholder for Onana if he comes in at 5.0

See how much of this stands up after preseason. Would like to see a few playing 6.0 or cheaper forwards to persist with distributing the funds this way.

Doherty back at WOL. Will he get back to his best or is it all gone Pete Tong?

Mahrez and Gundu gone. It's the year of the Foden IMO.

Gvardiol set to become a City player.

Gonna be an easy DT season, if they ever open it up.
