Caldwell also very likely. 3k more than Stephens

where does Caldwell fit in though ?

With Ward back , that's Coniglio , de Boer , Hopper , Taranto & Ward sharing the CBA.

Kelly & Whitfield on the wings , presumably Zac Attack & Don't Pay The on HB.

Might not be enough points for him to get that $ 150 k price rise.

Can someone tell me whether Lynch is popular as a potential keeper or mid-priced stepping stone?
I’ve looked long and hard but struggling to see why he’s so popular in either scenario so just wondering what I’m missing?

Averaged nearly 100 from R17 - GF, very underpriced for that sort of output. He was coming back from injury, which wrote off the first part of his season.

I really want to stay away from all key forwards, but he has snuck into some of my teams. Not sure if he'll make it in or not, as he is both mid priced and key position. Signs are pointing to stay away, but may risk it if I go with one team I have that I like the look of.

Yeah but that 47 in there against Brisbane tells me he's still just as likely to have another run of bad scores throughout the season to drop his average.
If you have him for whole season, you just ride the waves of good and bad weeks.. if he plays 22 games at 85-90 I’ll take that, saves me a trade. 90 puts him at top 20 and it was really the second half of the season he improved, not just the last 5 games. If Tigers go well again I see no reason why Lynch wouldn’t too

12 out of 22 games below 70 with 6 of those below 50........that’s enough to make me walk away from the game I reckon.
Has to at least rid those sub 50 games, I’ll need to probably look more at these games but that scares the **** out of me!

I get what you say but for two things:

- he had no preseason and improved throughout the season with no injury dramas so far this preseason
- week to week doesn’t matter if he ends up a top ten forward that you can get at the start of the season for a discount.. sure it’s no fun when he has a howler but hey it’s overall points for the season that counts

EDIT: I should add I don’t currently have him in my team but you asked what the argument s for doing so would be

His best season average of 93 out of 9 seasons would be lucky to land him top 15
Playing for who though ....

Have him in only one of my potential setups .... gives me scope to start with no on field rookies in the forward line but also a free look at Rankine etc on the bench before potentially committing them to an on field role ...

If it goes pear shaped then will be the first gone in round 3 ... got some swingsets in place to cope with that if need be ...

I'm open to both. If I look at Dev Smith vs Tom Lynch and think they are both a cheap F5-F6 I would prefer the player with a high standard deviation. They have the ability for some higher spike scores which 1. Can make their price higher and make them tradeable. 2. Can give you a POD VC especially with Richmond's early games at the G. Lynch into Grundy rnd 1! 3. Increase your chances of winning the weekly prize. 4. Can be looped off the bench.
Dream come true for a supercoach nerd. ?

A 93 average would have him top 7 based on last years forward averages

That’s missing a heap of last years forwards like Dunkley, Danger, Daniel, Boak, Marshall, Kelly, Worpel off the top of my head though.
Still, maybe but again that’s his best season numbers in 9 years which still is the only real data we have, would be dangerous to take a run of 12 games from one season and expect that as his new norm.

A few break outs amongst that list to play the devils advocate ... Dunks (sort of role change), Worpel (no Titch), Daniel (role change), Boak (role change), Marshall .... Kelly (contract / trade year) ....

Hardwick commented that Lynch was only training once a week up to the bye, plus no preseason.

That is why his scores improved after the bye.
