Yep, I played it in 2014, made it until about half an hour to go on day 2 before running AK into AA. Fantastic experience if you ever get the chance to do it.
Congrats.

That’s awesome! I would be throwing my money away at this point, but I suspect it would be quite an experience.
Hear, Hear. 88 other events at this year's WSOP with only 3 other events with a higher-buy in.

I satied into it (ie played a satellite event) via winning an event here in Australia, paid for tournament entry, flights and accommodation for 10 days. I can't justify stumping up about $15k AUD to play a poker tournament (the entry was $10700 USD in 2014), but I do plan to play in the Aussie Millions next year somehow.

I basically played internet poker for a living for some years, not that I'm all that good at it, as at the limits I was playing at there are just a lot of fish. I had some real tough table draws at the Main Event with some awesome players on them, showed me just how far off the best players I am (ie a long way).

Good luck if you do attend the tournament next year.

Also D Negreanu could potentially be coming to Aus for the tournament.

Any notable/well known players we would be aware of that were situated at your table?

Not really, like they're well known in the poker community but are not poker celebrities.

On day one I had London EPT winner Robin Ylitalo (I took most of his chips in a cold-deck): https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=100056 Pokerstars results: http://www.officialpokerrankings.co...lts/6121371ECD104208A2DF4AF54616B52B.html?t=2

Elio Fox (who I thought was a button clicker but has ~ $8 milly in live earnings from tournaments) https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=158078

Chile's best player in Nick Yunis, and also a guy called Dan Heimiller who you might recognise from old WPT footage.

TBH the two best players I saw were Ylitalo and also a no-name American called Terrance Eischens. Eischens was unreal, it was like he could see into the future. He knew exactly where he was in a hand and it was like he could predict what the other players were going to do. Awesome player.

OFF SEASON COMPETITIONS

Whilst we still have lots of regular activity, it's a good time to remind you that this is an all year round site to visit. Just because there is no AFL being played doesn't mean that you shouldn't be a regular visitor.

There is plenty of AFL Supercoach discussion, in addition getting your fantasy fix with competitions for NFL, NBA, EPL and BBL. Look out for these threads and join the fun.

Those who enjoy the NBA RDT should also enjoy the NBL RDT & NBL Fantasy games.

The off season is the best time for both SC and this site.

So much time for strategy and hope, unsullied by the often-disappointing reality.

Yup, sign me up!

We should try the NFL draft league this year.
Echo the sentiments displayed above as I have thoroughly enjoyed partaking in the NBA and NFL Sportsdeck competitions over the past 1-2 years thanks to the valuable research and advice offered by willing and knowledgeable coaches in conjunction with a great group of participants.

Regarding NFL hopefully we are able to increase the number of coaches to participate this season as well as hopefully going back to back as the No1 league.

No knowledge of the players or sport is necessary regarding the aforementioned competitions as several of us can attest to the fact that it’s better when there are no predispositions regarding selections, etc. Strongly urge and recommend others to join into 1 or several comps during the AFL SC off-season.

I might debut in the NFL one this year .... have been playing it for a few years but generally don't do well due to the early morning starts

More of a night owl ... and subsequently sleep through my VC / C options ... but will still be playing it and tracking stats as per normal ...

I debuted last season and finished 22nd out of roughly 2000 to 3000 with 2 SuperCoach scores leagues featuring in the top 5 (1st and 5th) and the majority of participants featuring in the top 100-200.

Sounds good ... I actually used a lot of the info from this site in conjunction with my own stats, player knowledge etc after the season had started last year ...

- Unfortunately though.... I only stumbled across this site after the season had started when looking for an NBA comp to enter ..
- So ... in short I can attest to the valuable knowledge bank of members on this site and their willingness to share ...
