The last part is the key part, basically throwing the players under the bus and letting them cop the heat for playing injured instead of just saying "he's playing hurt and it's a great effort".
Never underestimate a champion.

How many times have we seen a injured player play an inspired game (innings/quarter/period/half, etc)?

Allowing that information out in the open leaves doubt in the mind of the opposition. Champions only need a few minutes to turn a game.

How many games have Geelong won due to their last minute changes over the last 10-15 years?

I would argue that it would be none. They won those games due to the depth of their list and the abilities within. Ratugolea for Stanley fooled nobody.

The AFL need to be transparent, just the same as the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc. with their injury designations.

If Cripps and Neale were listed as questionable each week for the the first few weeks of the season, consumers would know to temper their expectations. Those consumers encompass members, fans, fantasy players and gamblers.

The competing clubs have spies/watchers for all the other clubs. It is doubtful that competing clubs don't know whether opposition team upcoming is carrying players with limitations.

Shouldn't Carlton be wanting it's members to know that Cripps is a true blue warrior worthy of Blue Bagger Legend status rather than a liability who they are happy to let go in free agency.
Totally agree that the AFL need to be transparent as it benefits the fans, fantasy players and gamblers.
But I can understand that AFL clubs will keep secrets from the public if it will benefit their club to win games.

What games have been won due to clubs keeping secrets from the public? The public have no hand in clubs playing and/or winning and losing. They are just portraying their players in a bad light and lessening their legacy.

What games have been won due to clubs keeping secrets from other clubs? That is the most pertinent question.

Wasn't that long ago, if a player had a crook left shoulder, he would tape the right.
Have a feeling if Steve Baker was still playing and knew Cripps had a sore back, he would be running into him with the elbow.
Would be great to know the extent of players injuries but I can see why clubs like keep it in house.

If it is true that the clubs secrets are known by the opposition through spies, or what ever means, then sure tell the public, I totally agree with that.
But if teams can keep secrets from other clubs (which obviously includes secrets from the public) then that surely is an advantage to the club. The more advantages the clubs have, the better chance they have of winning, that is why clubs go to great lengths to keep secrets from other clubs.

The most pertinent question is still out there. What games have been won due to clubs keeping secrets from other clubs?

I can understand if a club decides to play a player who is carrying a niggle wanting to keep it quiet so that the opposition does not target that injury. Dale Morris played with a fractured back in the 2016 GF and his tackle on Buddy that gave the Bulldogs a goal was critical in their win. Nobody knew until after the finals.

However I have never been able to understand why clubs try to be secretive about injuries to players that will prevent them from playing next game. It gets to the point when it is obvious the player is not going to get up and that is usually well before the team can get any advantage out of the attempted deception. Likewise pre season injuries.

That's true but if I hold him, my D5~D7 would be Highmore, Murphy and Kosi.
Will depend on different team structures but for me, he's gone.
Yeah I'm in a similar position with Laird in the mids that I can't get back.....can't believe I'm saying this but Sharp and Clarke would be handy for me right now.
I'd also like to trade Kosi this round but not sure I can. I've got Highmore, Frederick and Kosi with Laird in mids.
