Time to introduce myself

Funny to see 2014 as when I joined as I was hardly on this site until this year. FF member since 2013. Footywire and Tooserious for data.

61 yrs old, Worked in Mining industry overseas since around 2003 and in 2013 ended up in Panama and my boss was a mad Tigers supporter from Melbourne. He invited me to Supercoach league made up of expat Aussies and a bunch of Canadians. No fun losing to Canadians at your indigenous sport I can tell you. Been top of this league almost every year and only won once.

So after plenty of years of watching and following rugby (worked and lived in Africa and Sth Africa) and soccer (2010 World Cup when living in Joburg). Followed by NFL when based in Denver for a couple of year. I got back in to AFL.

Been a bombers supporter since I was 6 years old and hate Carlton with a passion and would not put the fire out on a Crows or Eagle supporter. Port and Freo are the real SA and WA football clubs.

6 Kids - 5 in QLD and 1 in Toronto. None follow the bombers. Bloody Lions and Hawks supporters.
Grew up playing footy in Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland. Love the country footy and still go to local games a few times a year. Briagalong, Cora Lynn, Thorpdale, small almost non existent towns that pretty much just have their football and netball clubs.

Since my first year in SC I play for overall with leagues as a bonus. Only cracked top 1000 once, normally around the 2k-3k mark. Generally start well and fall away as other teams get to Prem with more depth than me. So working on my trading and more GnR approach to the game. Also got to stop taking Gawn C when he scores 12 points. I am the worst C chooser in SC community.

Love the data, analysis, community and discussions around football. Made my overall enjoyment of AFL expand as the deeper knowledge of players and other teams and coaching tactics and patterns was shared and learned.

Finally guys like Rowsus, Impromptu etc on this site and recently Wogitalia (best write ups I have read anywhere) are much appreciated for sharing their knowledge, time and skills with us.

Pure Blonde drinker similar to Maso, as well as Keto.

Hi all, having been a fantasy footy tragic from way back, i thought i should introduce/provide some background (particularly seeing that i signed up here in Aug 2012 and only made my first post today ).

I was encouraged to sign up in aug 2012 when i was 2nd or 3rd overall to potentially get some intel as to what trades those around me were going to make. I had a few great PODs (buddy, dusty) but no daynes (Zorko or Beams) and 1 precious trade left with no cash. Last hail mary was Colin Sylvia in and i tumbled to 7th. Since then ive had a brief flirtation with glory in 2014 sitting inside the top 30 for most of the year on the back of a cunningham, Tyson, Polec, cripps midfield rookie quartet and a robbie gray breakout year at F4. Eventually the year peetered out to a finish of mid 200s. My other years are not worth talking about.

As mentioned at the start ive been a long time fantasy footy tragic dating back to 94 when The Age started their dreamteam comp. Ioaded up with 93 premiership heros and came nowhere. Still remember phoning an automated line to register and set my team.

Anyway. Happy to be here now.

Cheers!

Hey SCS,

Bit of an intro from me. I was another FFC tragic after betting recruited from BigFooty (Thanks @Pumbi). I played DT back in the Kellog's sponsorship days where there were only two trading windows, after round 8 and round 16, where you could make 4 trades in each window lol. I was a mad DT'er with some ok ranks and then started playing SC.

I am not really good at either but I love the analytical side of the game. I spent quite a bit of time working with the founder of FFC analysing the magic number over previous seasons so that we could predict the magic number movments and more accurately predict player movements as the MN shifted over time (i.e. the MN moves as the season progresses). I was right into posting on the FFC Boards (became a Mod) and there really was some incredible discussions and tools in those forums. Analytical spreadheets for PvP analysis, team forecasting programmes, pivot charts and tables etc. Amazing resources and knowledge base.

Those above have explained what happened and like most members in that forum, life gets in the way and you spend less time on analysis and trying to rely more on experience / intuition to drive your decisions.

I still love playing SC and keep in touch with some of my FFC compatriots.

In regard to my avatar, self explantory really. If you didn't like Max Rooke, you didn't like football. My favourite Cat of all time (that includes Gary Ablett Snr who was the reason I followed the Cats).

Great forum here guys. Excellent discussion. I do more reading than I do posting but will chime in here and there where I think I might add some value.

All the best for the rest of the season!

This.

Great to have another fellow FFC member here, can confirm Narkee was an invaluable asset as a mod on that forum, really looking forward to his contributions here (y)
Great to have had a number of the former FFC find there way over here. Particularly to have an injection of fresh 'experienced' blood to add to conversation! Has been great, although @wogitalia has set a near impossible stand for the rest of you to meet in term of sheer content!! 🤣

We are a pretty close bunch here with a number of people moving from online friends to real life friends/friendships.

The SCS melbourne meet ups have been on hold of late (some bugger worldwide thing happening over the last year - not sure if it's been mentioned in the news or not, lol) but once its possible will happen again, hopefully if any of the FFC crew are in Melbourne you can drop by.

Can confirm the SCS catch-ups are an absolute blast. Would encourage anybody on here to get involved.

It’s always daunting meeting a group of strangers for the first time but I can guarantee you will be made to feel welcome if you decide to take a leap of faith. The inaugural catch-up was an absolute belter of a night. @Philzsay, do we have any photos that are accessible from that night?

Very much looking forward to the next catch-up after such a hiatus.

Just stumbled across this thread for the first time and ive been on this forum so a while so i feel like i may aswell do a quick little inroduction

First ever form of fantasy sports i ever did was AFL supercoach in 2017 when i was 14 and my mate said it looked pretty fun, obviously we had no idea what we were doing and he gave up pretty quickly, but halfway through the year even though i was ranked like 100,000, i knew that id end up loving this sorta thing.

I think i ended up joining this forum late in 2017 ready for Supercoach bbl, and just found it amazing, all the information and people talking gibberish atm with all this supercoach slang and stuff.

Anyway, my name LGNDHEN23 doesnt have much meaning, but always used to use the word legend, and my name is Henry, so put it together and add the day i was born 23rd, then bang there it is.

Currently in yr 12, but still managing to balance grades and supercoach

Best supercoach moments so far,

1. being ranked 14th overall after round 9 of 2019 AFL supercoach, when i was 16 ahah, ended up 335 that year

2. happened very recently, 2 weeks ago, ended up coming 17th for the round, and moved up to 102nd overall in AFL supercoach, which is currently where i am ranked still

anyway, love the forum and love supercoach so thats about it
