Best round 15 bye fwd other than Zorko?
Gunston
Rioli
Robbo
Greene
Boomer
Wells/Barlow
Gunston, but watch the final teams tomorrow night as he copped a bit of a knock vs Melbourne last week and may be in doubt.

"HAWTHORN forward Jack Gunston is expected to be fit to face Essendon this Friday night.

Gunston copped a knock to the ankle against Melbourne on Saturday, but trained today, and should line up against the Bombers.

Sensible strategy. You are in a very good position if you have 7 injury trades post byes.
The fact Wells has done better than expected is what has me feeling trading him out is a good strategic move! Maybe this is his peak and he could go downhill with a 90-95 avg from here or worse if he cops an injury. I know it's a speculative route but due to his popularity I think it's a good punt as no doubt most would hold.
The problem is his round 15 bye. However, by the same token, the rest might mean he stays injury free for the rest of the year.

Motlop will be very cheap soon and has a favourable draw for SC finals.
Cheers guys. Gunston probably my first choice with his upcoming draw in particular.

Motlop is interesting...averaged 130+ between rounds 6-8 and around 50 between 9-11. ***?

I don't know about rounds 9 & 11 but seem to recall in R10 there was plenty of chat on the field that may have distracted him.

Dahl - has the track record.

Dahl v Lids?
Dahl. While Lids has the track record, he doesn't look quite the same. Dogs have a decent draw too. And Richmond really need to reduce their reliance on him. Wouldn't be surprised if he were played in a few different positions as they really need to blood some more youngsters in those critical positions.

Dahl - has the track record.

Dahl v Lids?
Lids has a good track avg against the games he faces now tilll season end with 9/11 of them being 100+ avg, and Dahl with only 2 of them being 100+ avg
Lids for POD and overall, Dahl for safe

@bomberboy - a couple of thoughts:

- I like the way you are thinking re the value of a trade of someone like Wells.
- Just remember that North's draw is dramatically harder in the second half. As a general comment, I would be looking hard at the draw on an ongoing basis if I was you. I'd probably think about it at least as much as what others are doing. Until it gets really close to the end of the year, or unless you drop back and need to start taking risks to catch up again, I think at the moment it's simply about getting maximum points on field between now and the end of the year.
- I think I may know who your POD is - in which case, my advice would be to just ensure that he can handle a tag, and that he's getting scored well when he plays well.
- Rocky is someone I'd be giving consideration to, especially if there's some chance of looping him later on in the year. He could easily cost you a low injury-affected score and a trade, but you seem to be okay for trades, and he could even be a strong VC option. Personally I think paying another $20-50k for another look or two at him is a price I'm willing to pay, but I think he warrants a reasonable amount of thought, as he's liable to have a big influence on the outcome, one way or the other :)

Best of luck.

I agree. I can always find a way to bring Rockliff in post byes if he comes out breathing fire in the next 2 games, but I honestly don't think he will. All your other points are super relevant, including the one about the draw of North.

If I'm being totally honest, if I get any closer to the overall prize I may start throwing out a red herring or 2 about what I'm going to do, just in case anyone's tracking my moves. That's why I'm remaining neutral on Wells, as it might turn out he becomes surplus to my needs if a must have forward premium appears.

I definitely am shaping my trades around the draw! ;)

Dahl vs Gunston

Dahl is the obvious choice, Gunston could be a solid POD with his next 3 being Essendon, North and Gold Coast. The later bye is also handy. I'm just mindful of picking the better short term option only to regret it in the longer term.

Gotta be Dahl. Can't pick finishing premiums based on a good 3 week draw
