Who would you trade first out of Langdon or Langford?
One will be the only rookie playing on the field. The catch with it is i can use one trade with Langdon to the player i want but will need 2 downgrades to trade up Langford next few rounds.
Or do one downgrade and upgrade Langford this week and one Downgrade and upgrade Langdon to Any Defender next week.
I want Hanley and someone like McVeigh but not a fan of paying to much for Defenders.

Hey Row,

Bit of a different one today.
Was thinking of JPK as a vc option..this question isnt solely based on tomorrows game but could be handy for future reference too.

Assume Sydney played a game in wet, muddy conditions. That would mean less ball movement, a lot more ball ups, contests and tackles.

Do you think this would favour a player like JPK who gets a majority of his possessions in a contest, and considering he would get to more contests, would increase his scoring capacity?

Or do you think it would be a negative because now all other players contested possessions would also increase as well as their tackles numbers making him come back to the pack?

I would guess the first one would be more accurate. I remember the preseason game where Libba scored 170+ on that shocking day at Geelong.

Thanks again!

Hi Rowsus.. First off I will echo the sentiments of all those before me, and say congrats and thank you for all your hard work.

I know from reading your previous posts that you are a Wingard fan, and that there is a belief that he can reach that 98 average of last year from this point on. I decided to do a little digging to see if he was a viable addition to my team and found he has had some alarming figure drops from last year. Disposal are at -5 per game, clearance -1.6 and disposal efficiency -5%. His positive is he has increased his goals per game to +0.8 and his time on ground is much higher. I won't look at any other figures as i know you would already have done your own research. I guess my observation is, that he has had a role change to last year and is now played almost solely as a forward. My question to you is, is he building towards playing more mid time, or as i tend to think, is his mid time going to be based on the teams fortunes? That is, while port adelaide are playing well and winning he will spend his time as a forward, but if they start to struggle he will move back into the midfield?

p.s. would love to get him in as he is great to watch..
Hi bb, thanks for that. :)
I'm not too concerned about his stats being a little down. He is playing a different role sometimes this year, and a lot of that seems to depend on if Monfries plays. I think he can average mid 90's for the rest of the season. And yeah, he is great to watch! :)

My current midfield is GAJ. Pendles, JPK, Beams, Watson, Harvey (fwd), Polec. (Taylor, Acres)emg

I am considering trading Polec to K Mitchell then trading Higgins to Fyfe via Harvey DPP to the fwd line. This will complete my fwd line but leave K Mitchell on field at M8. On current form Mitchell is avg 100.5, has earned his spot not by the injury of another player but by earning it himself. He is in a winning team and if he keeps scoring this way will be $450k+ in 4 weeks time. Rookies with good JS are hard to come by nowadays so I think this might be a valid alternative. What do you think of my idea, do you think it could work?
Hey Sloth, thanks for that.
I have 3 concerns with K Mitchell.
He seems to fall out of favour very quickly, and gets dropped or vested a lot.
His price is very high for a downgrade/Cash cow target.
His scores seem a little hollow/inflated on his stats.
Sure, there are not a lot of downgrade targets available, but I'd be looking elsewhere.
Good luck :)
minidee

It's a high risk move, given Hinkley loves to "mess" with him. I'd only do it if you are happy your other money generating options are looking ok.

Hi Rowsus,

Congrats on the ton.

I know a few supercoaches around have thought of trading him out, but what are your thoughts on trading Jarryd Roughead in? Good scoring history, low breakeven and GWS are terrible
Hi vc, thanks for that.
I doubt too many that still have Roughie in their team are considering trading him out this week. He's definitely a trade in option at the moment.

Rowsus,

What are your thoughts on Andrew Mackie? Never been a super scorer, but so far this year is averaging 100 from his 6 full games (excl. the red-vested 57 in Round 5). Even scores of 89 and 100 since returning from injury are impressive, but is there something I'm missing about the Geelong structure that indicates he can't keep this up? Very tempting at <$450k!!!

(P.S. Tossing up between him and Shannon Hurn)
TBO,

he's got a pretty decent history, that suggests he is an 88 player. I'd be surprised if his scoring didn't start heading back in that direction. I have been surprised before though. :)

hey Rowsus, do you think Jack Steven would be a good pick up? could he match last seasons points or do you think he's too much of a risk for a midfield spot?
hey d-buzzz,
I think I'd prefer to see a little consistency from him, before I brought him in. There were concerns before his last game, that the problem was lingering, and he made need more rest or management. I'd only take him if you are desperate for a POD, even then, there may be better options.

Hi Rowsus. Went with your advice a week ago and I think it's going to pay off big time. So thank you very much.

Wondering if you can help me with this one... My mind has been running through so many different scenarios and really need your wise words
My team currently is:
McVeigh Bartel Hibberd Simpson Hodge Langdon Langford Giorgiou
Ablett Pendlebury Beams Watson Libba Selwood Tyson Polec Acres Shenton (traded in for Crouch)
Sandilands Goldstein King Thurlow
Dangerfield Gray Martin Zorko Pavlich Cameron Lloyd Impey
I have 158k in the bank atm with 1 trade left this week. Question is:
Would you make a trade this week or keep the trade? I keep thinking I need to downgrade Langford or Langdon to get more money to upgrade my weak remaining forward line... But the thought of upgrading Polec or Langdon to either Fyfe or Swallow is so tempting... And also the downgrade options are so low...
Instead of Swallow... Should I wait for Sam Mitchell to complete my backline?

Last bit... Do you think Brodie Martin can improve?

Sorry about all the questions... Any advice would be really appreciated.
Hi white, great to hear it worked out for you last week. :)
I think you need to make a downgrade more this week, so you are set for next weeks trading.
I think you should go Langford to Bews. Both Langdon and Langford are close to potentially tapped out, as far as generatiing Cash goes, but Langdon would seem to be more likely to kick start the process with a good score than Langford.
Ask as many questions as you want, that's what the thread is for. :)

Hey Rowsus,

Currently ranked 321 so pretty happy and just want to keep my run going even
though I am too far off to win it. Your advice so far has been great and is much appreciated. You do a great job.
Struggled what to do this week with trades slowly drying up and bench cover disappearing fast.
Was thinking getting Buddy in this week with just the one trade via Lloyd but do I need to rather look at a Bartel or
another Premo mid first?

My options I was considering are:

1. Buckley to Bartel (hold Bartel in mids for another week or so then swap to def and upgrade Langdon to Premo mid
2. Lloyd to Buddy (leaves 96K)
3. Lloyd to Shenton, Buckley to Watson
4. Any other suggested option

Just not sure this week. Have 13 trades and $280K

B: McVeigh, Simpson, Jaensch, Swallow, Hibberd, Langdon (Langford, Bews)
M:Ablett, Pendles, fyfe, Libba, Murphy, Beams, Selwood, L.Taylor (ACRES, BUCKLEY)
R: Minson, Sandi (Thurlow, Currie)
F: Danger, Martin, R.Gray, Pav, Higgins, Cameron (LlOYD, Ambrose)

Any help much appreciated

Hi Row, I know you have suggested to bring Fyfe in a few times now.
However coupled with Barlow, don't you think Ross Lyon will rest them during SC finals time?
That's my only hesitation for bringing in Fyfe at this stage because I want Barlow next week.
If I bring in both, I will have 4 Freo players
Hi MMM,
I can understand your hesitation. It will be interesting to see how the AFL police the new rule this year, and how far Ross will push the boundaries. Given Freo's Draw finishes with: Geel, Haw, Bris, Port here are a couple of things to consider. It would only be the round 22 away game against Bris that he might rest some players (nowhere near as many as last season). Secondly, why not run with both for the good part of Freo's draw, then sideways one when the tough streak starts?
Good luck :)

Congratulations Slammer on your current high position.

This would make a great poll question as you are in a unique position and trying to fill the last 3 parts of your side, and hence worthy of a thread in of itself as it provides us all with a 'Supercoach lesson".

Buddy could go beserk and make up your difference making you a geniune contender. Or do the other options translate into incremental gains on the others.

Good luck.:)

I think I'd go the one up/one down route. Langdon is more likely to produce a useful score, and kickstart his growth again than Langford. Both are potentially close to maxed out, but it's hard to see Langford pumping out a 100+.
Good luck :)

Hey Mike,
I think people overestimate the effect of wet weather games. To my thinking, the only ones affected, positively or negatively, are those that rely on contested marks for a good bit of their points. Outside of that, I think very few players are affected too much. On his current form JPK is no doubt a good VC option, either way.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowscus, congratulations and a big thankyou to the huge contribution you have made to this site.

Just wondering what you think about this left of centre out of the box idea.

Trade out Cotchin this week over Polec. (Will eventually aim to remove both these players and Tyson).

Polec:
Price: 457, 500
Breakeven: 124 (66 will be cycled out next round)
Next 2: Melbourne, Saints (then trade out), Sydney, Adelaide, dogs after
Comments: Scored 141 against GWS., and with easy draw he could increase in price dramatically.

Cotchin:
Price: 510,800
Breakeven: 99 (93 will be kept for next 2 rounds)
Next 2: Essendon (hocking), North (then out),
Comments: Lower risk, has Crowley after north as well so would want to move him on before then.

Can Polec average more in the next 2 rounds?
Will Polec rise in price more in the next two rounds?

Not expecting you to predict their exact prices but what would you expect to see Polec priced is he score 2 *110's Vs Cotchin at 105.

Thanks again in advance for your great advice and work

Hey Slammer,
great job so far, well done! :)
I think your plans greatly hinge on omorrow nights selections. If Lloyd gets picked, you probably need to hold him, given his low B/E, if he doesn't you may as well ditch him, as we can't be certain when/if he'll be back.
I like you Buckley to Bartel idea, as your Def 5/6 look a bit iffy (I'm not a Jaensch fan.) Then I'd go either Taylor to Shenton (if Lloyd is picked), or Lloyd to Shenton. This should allow some more upgrades next week.
Good luck, and stay aggressive! :)

Hey FT,
I think you are being a little impatient with your trades this week. I would ditch the Jaensch trade, and get Bews instead. I think you'll be disappointed with Jaensch at D6, and Bews injects some Cash, and makes some Cash for you too. When you can't see how you are going to make Cash for upgrades, you really need to bring in the best bubble boy available.
Good luck :)
