This is what I've come up with after the marsh games. By far the most midpricers I've ever had so very different waters for me. $11,700 in the bank.
Laird had been Houston all preseason until they changed the Port/StK bye. Picking him in the back of Smith moving to to a Mid/Fwd role, I also believe he took a few more kick ins than usual, even with Brown still in the team, will this be the norm under Nicks? or was it just coincidence and I'm looking into it far too much?
Sicily is one of my favourites, been locked since it opened. Hawks trade ins this year makes him an even greater prospect.
Docherty easy pick. Don't expect him to be near his pre knee output, but interested to see if how much he benefits from the kick in rules, he was able to ave 110+ without dinky free points.
Roberton looks like a very handy stepping stone, with a very small chance of becoming a premo. Is another one who hasn't played since the kick ins started counting towards stats. Value him over Houston, and couldn't have 2 of my defs missing round 11 in a best 22 round.
Macrae is the best. Built for SC and plays in a team who's midfield racks up points for fun.
Neale is a very last minute addition, hadn't considered him as a starter at all, always an upgrade target, but then I had a closer look at his draw. Specifically rounds 9-11, Richmond, Port and GC right before his bye, I don't think he'll be attainable in the bye rounds, happy to just pay for him now.
Not 100% on Cripps, but everyone else seems to be. I don't want to bet against him, especially when he has a tendency to punch out large scores early. I also don't rate the Blues at all and expect the man to be still be doing all the heavy lifting.
Dangerfield is my #1 lock. Brownlow year for Mr Me Time.
Dev Smith at M5 just don't have a heap of faith in the mid rookies. Happier to take a punt on Brander and Curtis on field atm.
Grundy and Gawn are too good not to pick.
Too many large scores, and it's super easy to pick when they are going to post massive scores.
Seeing people not pick Gawn is madness to me, I actually prefer him to Grundy, expecting him to be #1 scorer this year.
Dusty is just a very safe and boring pick, 100ppg for 20+ games as a fwd is an easy lock. Would prefer Whitfield but can't afford him.
Loved Greenwood's role in the Marsh games. Could hardly buy a touch in the second game and kicked at 20 something %, still managed a 75. Reckon he can go 90+ with ease, and a 90+ average in the fwds this year will be top 10.
I do not rate Ceglar as a footballer. I think he is terrible. But ever since the ruck scoring changes rucks have been gold and whenever you can pick them in a line that isn't the rucks you should do so. DPP is a very valuable bonus. I carried Westhoff majority of last year and still went alright.
I crossed Steven off my list as soon as I heard he had calf complaints, but the lack of rookies has forced my hand. Just have to pray now.
