Bit of free time this morning so welcome to the next event. Don't forget to get your entry in for the conclusion of the Premier League tomorrow morning. Lockout is at 0500hrs AEST.

EVENT #4 - Cazoo World Cup of Darts

Similar selection format to the UK Open. Should England and/or Wales be eliminated prior to Day 3, there may be a slight team selection tweak (will give notice at the completion of the days play). Standard rules to all other events in regards to withdrawals. VC score Round 1&2 only.

Day 1&2 Lockout - Friday 17th 0300hrs AEST

Any questions feel free to ask. All the info is in the table, so it's pretty self explanatory.

Canada: Jeff Smith and Matt Campbell

Dangerous pairing that can cause trouble for seeded nations and are capable of going on a deep run. From a fantasy perspective, I would have preferred them facing an opposition that did not consist of two players within the top fifty of the order of merit for their tournament opening. Both have yet to hit top form consistently on the Pro Tour, although Campbell did reach a Players Championship final two months ago and has improved with more pro tour experience under his belt.

Czech Republic: Adam Gawlas and Karel Sedlacek

Recorded the highest ever losing average in the first round last year (103.47) against Poland (104.97). Impressive results from both in European Tour events this year, with Gawlas another of the youngsters to keep an eye on over the next 5-10 years. Tough ask facing the number one seed England first up but the short format is a positive for the Czech side.

Denmark: Vladimir Andersen and Andreas Toft Jorgensen

A record of 3-11 at the World Cup and have yet to pass the second round. Vladimir became the first Dane to secure a tour card via Q-School this year. If they defeat Singapore, it will be a tough ask against the home nation Germany (assuming they progress) who should be too strong.

Finland: Marko Kantele and Aki Paavilainen

Highlight of Finand’s participation in the tournament was way back in 2013 when they defeated the duo of Michael Van Gerwen and Raymond Van Barneveld in the second round on the way to finishing as semi finalists. Since then, they have only managed the one win. Marko is a very experienced and decorated player on the Nordic scene with his success helping to qualify for tournaments such as the World Championships and the UK Open, of which he has failed on most occasions to progress past the first round.

Gibraltar: Justin Hewitt and Craig Galliano

The smallest country by both size and population participating in the 2022 edition. A record of 1-12 with their only win coming against Italy in 2015.

Dyson Parody will be sorely missed for his antics on the oche after being a mainstay in the Gilbratar team from 2010 to 2019.

J Cullen (C)
MVG

Still another week left to back out of the Cullen move and go the potential safer route of Clayton (C).
Very glad that I did not make any last minute changes. Brilliant performance by Cullen and fantastic to see him finally break through this year with several deep runs and tournament wins. Superb final and well worth a watch.

Hong Kong: Lee Lok Yin and Ching Ho Tung

Six consecutive first round exits for Hong Kong and Kai Fen Leung is not representing the country for the first time since 2018. Both players are making their World Cup debut with a tough ask against the defending champions.

Hungary: Gergely Lakatos and Nandor Pres

Both players averaging below 75 in the year to date, mainly from the Hungarian Super League and a few development tour events. Are not drawn against a seeded nation but do have to contend with Latvia and their tour card holder Madars Razma.
