Draftee Billy Wilson has wowed some teammates with his ability to pick up a ball at speed and take off and has been training with the midfield group at times.
Running machine Matt Cottrell has been among the best performers after he was injured last pre-season.
Mitch McGovern suffered a concussion, while Patrick Cripps (knee) was hobbled in one session but the Blues said he was fine.

COLLINGWOOD PRE-SEASON LATEST
Dan McStay tore his ACL at training, ruling him out for the year. Days later, Pat Lipinski turned his ankle, but the Magpies played it down as minor. Josh Carmichael was concussed at training.
Darcy Moore and Jamie Elliott have been on light duties, while Darcy Cameron and Nick Daicos have graduated into full training. Brayden Maynard has been at training but isn’t joining in, instead catching balls with one arm after shoulder surgery.
Draftee Tew Jiath is already one of the best runners at Collingwood, while Harry DeMattia has also looked good.
The Pies haven’t decided on a summer signing despite six players training with the club, including former Saint Jack Bytel.
Ash Johnson and Reef McInnes have often played deep as forwards and could be potential replacements for McStay.
ESSENDON PRE-SEASON LATEST
Sam Draper declared he wants to play in round 1 as he eases back from groin surgery. He is hoping to be back in full training in January.
A bunch of Bombers have been on light duties, including Jake Stringer (foot), Peter Wright (foot), Sam Weideman (achilles) and recruits Ben McKay (knee) and Xavier Duursma (hip). All five are expected to be in full training in January. Dylan Shiel (knee/foot) is due back into full training in February.
Nik Cox looks likely to play off halfback as he shrugs off a couple of years hit by injury.
Draftee Nate Caddy has shown no interest in taking it easy, crashing into bodies at training and putting defenders under the pump as he wants to play in round 1.

FREMANTLE PRE-SEASON LATEST
He may have signed a monster contract extension, but ruck Sean Darcy has yet to join in full training after ankle surgery.
Nat Fyfe has had no issues so far in pre-season and has been working to his own program.
Brandon Walker appears on track for a round 1 return after a knee injury ended his 2023.

Draftee Connor O’Sullivan showed he can play anywhere, lining up in defence, the ruck and the wing during match simulation.
New assistant coach Steven King has been impressed with the fire of veterans including Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Hawkins.
Vice-captain Tom Stewart has been lighting up the track and has recommitted to the Cats until at least the end of 2027 after inking a three-year extension on top of his original contract.
Jack Henry (foot) and Phoenix Foster (foot) have been sidelined, but the rest of Geelong’s list has been going at it, including young ruck Toby Conway.
Midfielder Tom Atkins has been working on taking his running up a level as well as becoming “a bit more offensive minded”.

Former No.1 pick Aaron Cadman has added some size to his frame and has inked a new two-year contract extension, tying the key forward to the club until at least the end of 2026. The Giants believe he is a “special talent” and were excited by the early signs he showed on debut this year.
Draftee Phoenix Gothard has been working with the midfield group as he aims to make an impact in his first pre-season.
