Can some please provide some light on the popularity of Finaly Macrae? I assume he's a placeholder as I am struggling to see it.
I think many are expecting him to fill the Taylor Adams void.

Adams missed the GF and Macrae still didn’t feature so I’m not so sure he’s a walk-up start.

Positive signs this pre-season though.

I suppose some of the reasons are:
1 With Taylor Adams out, maybe Fin Macrae in?
2 In the VFL he averaged 26 disposals, 10 contested possessions, six tackles, six score involvements and 102 SuperCoach points in 2023, following on from a 106-point average in 2022.
3 The Pies have continually said that they are happy with his development.
4 Macrae’s only senior performance was as sub in round 24, when he had seven disposals and laid eight tackles for 39 points in 42 minutes against Essendon.
5 Job security is not a certainty, but if named early on he will be hard to resist.

Absoulty flying in preseason. One of the best consistantly in match sims. The talk is, he has a lock on the Adams role.

Definetly on the Midfield rotation if selected.

Current team without delving too deep into things at this early stage :-

View attachment 67168 View attachment 67169

As I have stated before, just think Daicos, Sicily & Stewart are the standout defenders, really like Young as a midfielder - think he could be a top 6 defender, has a great bye also.

Bont even at his price I want, great capt option each week/ perfect SC game & have to have him at some point - will not be easy to trade him in during the season.

Butters, LDU & Serong - 3 young SC guns that have ideal draws/ byes.

Gawn/Grundy combo just too hard to resist.

Macrae/ Flanders the 2 fwds I like, Jackson tempting so may change there.

Lots of good fwd rookies this year so loaded up along with Billings if playing the mid/fwd connector role.

Happy to sit on this for now until preseason games.
Nice team very similar to mine. I don't have Stewart i have laird instead. Im in 2 minds about gawn I really want to start english over him. I would have to downgrade laird to steele/crouch to do so.....

Thanks for clarifying, lads.
Macrae based on match sims look the least of our problems right now

Mannagh - sounds less likely best 22. Hopefully O'Connor gets there, has a Sam De Koning/Jack Henry vibe about him
Fullarton - injured
Hore/Pink/Coffield - not sure we get all 3, working on two for now, could be one.
Jhye Clarke - radio silence on preseason, think he did have an injury pre xmas but is back out there
Burgoyne - haven't seen in anyone's team, some positive talk
Sam Darcy - was some positive talk, an he make us $100k, needs to lift his PPM
Caddy/Watson - not your $123k rookies, think they play but will suck cash out of team structures
Cadman - crickets
Zach Reid - not in many teams, some +ve talk
Clay Hall - this is the man people choose to fade, 12% of teams.
Sinn - maybe

12 premiums including Flanders relies on a few cheap rookies, if they dont come, back to 11 and a bunch of 200-300k mid pricers.

I think longer term this year they probably have Pendles playing less mid and Adams midfield time needs to go somewhere. VFL numbers are very good and they need new mids coming through. Think he plays for those reasons but no guarantee

Darcy Wilson - 130K fwd/mid, Ross loves him & stated he expects him to play a lot this year - excellent runner/ great endurance

Jeremy Sharp - 123K, another very good runner/ impressing at Freo. Real chance of taking the wing spot vacated by Henry

Kane McAuliffe - 117K, big bodied mid impressing at tigers training - big watch over pre season games.

Have read he has been impressive in the match sims Richmond have had so far, winning his own ball at clearances/making the transition to AFL level very well so far.

Bit more info about him from the draft :-

Kane McAuliffe
State: South Australia
State League Club: North Adelaide
Community Club: Central Augusta
Date of Birth: 01/03/05
Height: 187cm

A powerful midfielder who wins his own ball and is a penetrating left-foot kick. Is a strong and aggressive tackler as well as being an accomplished extractor of the ball from stoppages using his clean hands and vision to set up the play. Progressed from dominating under-18 games at club level to playing seven matches at reserves level averaging 18.7 disposals. Featured among South Australia’s best in the National Championship matches against the Allies and Victoria Metro and averaged 18 disposals, 3.8 clearances and 8.5 tackles across the tournament. Showcased his power and speed at the national Draft Combine with his running vertical jump of 95cm ranking third and 2.93 seconds for the 20m spring ranking fifth.
Weapon: Power and left-foot kick
Player Comparison: Jack Crisp (Collingwood)

Whats your summary of Clay Hall, did see a picture of him, the body looks ready for the top flight Would love to see what he and Ginbey could do this year running through the midfield.

North Melb.
Pretty happy structure-wise.
Like most people, FWD line is a bit of a guessing game at the moment but likely going to fade the Jackson / Flanders awkward options.
Fisher / Fyfe / Billings could change up with Lynch/ Jordan/ Hayes options

I'd be cautious about Fisher.
Hamstring troubles at the moment.

Do you have any concerns for Round 3 having Green and Miller in the same side? Do you have a plan to trade one or both, or do you see their value being worth the double hit?

Sorry, don't like the Fyfe pick. Pretty good otherwise!

Real chance he debuts early on pending form in preseason games & injuries of course (which seem inevitable at WCE these days lol).

F2 - F4 scares me along with 2 of your premium mids having early byes & missing 2 rounds of scoring.
What’s the appeal of Cox? Position change/ big preseason?

Yeh fair point. Actually had Serong in until this week for Green. Might end up going back there. Like most people, I'm watching Jack Steele in the preseason too. They are the likely changes if I feel the need.

Sorry, don't like the Fyfe pick. Pretty good otherwise!
Yeh - understand why. But at his price, if he lines up in mid during preseason etc. I think it's worth the risk. Still an easy drop down to Jordan/ Lynch/ Mackenzie if needed. Quite a lot of options (although most a risk) at that price range. But that's the risk-reward area. I think with 40 trades there's a chance to role with more of these options - especially up forward and be trigger happy early on. Especially if I go safer on premos that have good bye rounds as well that won't have me scrambling with sideways at all.

F2 - F4 scares me along with 2 of your premium mids having early byes & missing 2 rounds of scoring.

Essendon mate got in my head about him. Think I'll be keeping an eye on ex-essendon d'ambrosio if he gets a gig in Hawks 22. And otherwise will try to find a way up to Chapman if he seems to be locking down that HB/Wing role that seems to be between about 4 players at Freo
