Saw the Phiilipou and Marshall news and immediately cleared my team. Ended up with this pseudo-mid-price-madness side, particularly in the forward line. If this is the team I decide to run with, I need that spare 400,000$ for the inevitable injury or the very high chance that Oliver is truly cooked. My main reservation with this team and a common theme I find with other teams, is the lack of a non-playing player for VC/C looping. Now this is viable for cash generation but I’d look to trade in a spud eventually so I can circumvent a tag or injury on my VC.
can't disagree! but as he was getting good mid minutes the last 7 or 8 games at GWS I'm assuming that he has been led to believe that he will start with similar quotas with ADEL. (for him to up and go from GWS)
Crouch - not getting any younger (but can play nowhere else!)
Laird - hinted may be heading to h/back role again
Dawson - always Mr Fixit
Just think he will get the role first up and if plays as well as last year can easily @ 95+

"Guarantee". It's an interesting word thrown around every pre-season, when talking about some of the players that have swapped clubs.
I will just put it out there. I believe no players, be they existing or new to a list, are given any "guarantees" of playing, let alone what role they will be playing. How could a club afford to do it? A guarantee implies compensation if the agreed to terms are not met. What would be the compensation in a situation like this?
I can see a club telling a player "We envision your role will be XYZ, and we feel you can play a part in improving our standing in this area".
I can never even imagine a player being guaranteed a game, let alone a role (outside of the elite well established players that is.).

"Guarantee" implies something beyond that though. I was more highlighting how dangerous it is assume something, when that's all it is, an assumption. Some people kid themselves into a player having a lucrative role because of new circumstances. In reality, we need to see how it plays out, and not take it as a given.

FOMO is such a massive psychological issue and the key is separating a good/bad run of scores from a legitimate change. Rowell especially and to a lesser extent Luke Ryan suckered a lot of people in last year. However, I'd like to take a look at some midfielders from last year:
Neale was the clear outstanding choice to jump on, but he'd missed Round 1 so there was only one game to go on. Dawson was the right choice to jump off in Round 3 but from Round 6 to 11 he had a purple patch averaging 132.7. LDU then averaged 116.4 from Round 10 and from Rounds 10-15 he averaged 135.6.
So starting Serong, jumping off him in Round 10, grabbing LDU and $140k profit would have been a superb move - but how many would have the chutzpah to pull off that move?
