D: Smith, Hibberd, Newnes, Waters, Whitecross, Edwards (Goddard, Newman)
M: Gaz, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Griffen, Heeney, Boekhurst, Laverde, (Freeman, McKenzie, Krakouer)
R: DogDog, Leuandhamandeggenburger (Nankervis)
F: Lids, Martin, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark (Steele, Hogan)

142k left. I like cash to correct any errors. Could lose Fyfe and Salem, replace for Van Verlo and Buddy. Rucks concern me as I had the set and forget par last year. Rocky is an in during the year.

Havent looked at byes, but if my rucks hold true, that's 14 keepers if Newnes is the Swallow of this year

How are you guys able to post an attachment?
I want to be able to post my team from a screen grab from SC 2015 gold picker but can not.
Does this have to do with me not having permissions to post attachments?

Thanks

I think Juzzo just wants the pic posted without needing to click a link to get to the picture. Upload the image to a host like photobucket or imgur then copy the url, come back to SCS start a reply, then click the "insert image" button and paste the url.

Here's my obviously tentative first crack. Rookies are just building blocks until we get a look at the NAB. I haven't done too much looking into the Byes.

A few musings....

Like most, I'm not sold on many defenders this year. It's hard to justify picking Malceski priced at 105, in a new team. I'd expect a 5-10 point pullback there. Kade Simpson has always been one of my favourites, but he's first and foremost a Dream Teamer, and it was hard copping the 20s and 30s he threw out occasionally last season. Can't expect Brodie Smith to remain at his level after a breakout. I think Hibberd is the most reliable quantity of the DEF premiums.... I'm expecting Mayes to breakout, and I've long thought Seedsman has great fantasy potential - he was great in the back half of 2013 and is at a decent price following his injury troubles last year.

As always, there's a plethora of Mids I'd like to squeeze in. Would love to find room for Griffen, Wines, B. Crouch, Dangerfield, Hannebery, Swallow etc who all have massive upside. Beams has the potential to be unique early in the season, I have him above Selwood at this point. My midfield might be a little too unique at this point.

May end up taking Naitanui in the rucks.... With him and the two I've thrown in, there's three guys who are really nicely valued, I don't see any reason to look past them.

Forward line I'm very happy with at the moment. Deledio is the biggest lock in the competition as far as I can see. Bennell/Swan are certainties, and I think there's plenty of upside to Buddy. Not getting sold into Goddard, just because he's listed as a forward. I can't see a huge deal of growth over the 102 he's priced at. Bont seems likely to get plenty of midfield time. Can also see plenty to like about Josh Kelly, but he's too awkwardly priced.

Anyway just my two cents, no doubt plenty will change before now and the start of the season. Would be happy to hear any opinions / hear people tear it apart.

Ok, I am back in the office and discovered that SC Gold has released the 2015 stuff - not much work done so far today as a result...

Team PC (atm)

B: Simpson, Smith, Broadbent, Docherty, Waters, Lever, [Goddard, Maynard]
M: Pendles, Selwood, JPK, ASwallow, Brayshaw, de Goey, Heeney, Freeman, [Steele, Stretch, Payne]
R: NicNat, Luey, [Nankervis]
F: Lids, Goddard, Dusty, DSmith, TMitch, Petracca, [Hogan, Laverde]

EDIT - $44,300 bank

Backline - I had Durdin in there for a time, but jigged things around to get Doch in for him - yep, the backline rookies seem to be the hard ones to pick atm.

Mids - no GAJ, just don't see him holding his value not to mention shoulder issues, Team PC seems better without his purchase cost atm. ASwallow is undervalued and seems to be a POD, JPK seems to be a POD. Brayshaw and de Goey will surely get game time and seem to be (expensive) rookie PODs. Hmmmm, it looks like I may have a lot of 'PODs' - I wanted cookie cutter this year! At the moment I have a FD in at M11, not sure if it will stay that way or not.

Rucks - tried to balance value with back up. Scared of R1/R2 missing games but can't justify spending more on R3...

Fwds - no Swan, probably wrong but I just don't like him as a selection atm (also hearing he is having a slow pre-season?). D Smith POD - should run through the mids more this year, gun player in the making. TMitch question marks, but if he is picked round 1, he should jet his way to big scores and coin (fingers crossed!). Petracca seems to be another POD?!

Sad that there are no Hawks players in the side. Scared that I have 4 players from the Swans, Dees and Pies! o_O

Hope everyone's festive season was fun. Hanging out to the footy starting again!

Comments, team slagging, thumbs up welcome :)

Too many speculative picks for mine. I count 10.
Last year I loopholed Hickey and McIntosh at R2 and R3 and felt they played ok with averages for the year of 88.5 and 83.8. I sold them at Rnd 8 (Hickey got injured 1 week before I planned to get rid of him) and Rnd 12 for $376'000 and $392'000. There is a lot of talk about Kreuzer and Leuenberger making $100'000 to $150'000 before being traded during the byes but I'm not betting on it. It is really easy for a player to go from $150'000 to $250'000. Most players can make the leap from $250'000 to $350'000. But after $350'000 the climb in price can slow down really quickly. Even if you think Kreuz and Leuey can average 90 (keeping in mind Lobbe and Maric were lone ruckmen this year and averaged 100) they are already priced above $350'000 and there is no guarantee they will even get to $400'000 before you want to trade them. At least Bellchambers at $302'000 is more chance of making money and has the Rnd 12 bye.
I must admit the Rucks are doing my head in! :) I know what I don't want to do but can't work out what I do want to do.

Hey mate, team looks nice at the moment. Most of those players you have picked have a lot of upside, as with the ones you mentioned earlier.

Thing that stuck out the most to me was the midfield. I think there are 9 players you've selected with that round 12 bye. When you take a look at that, you'll see what I mean. I'd be more inclined to drop Parker for a round 13 bye player like Griffen, and then seeing where Parker is at come the byes.

Rest of the team looks really well balanced for byes, except for the ruck where both Kreuz and Berg share the round 11. Not that important though if you can still field your 18 without them.

Good luck mate, can't wait to see the updates!

I'll post mine up, swing me some feed back if you've got the time :)

At the moment the byes are sitting at 9/12/9 I think... Looking at doing 3 trades round 12 at this stage, target Rockliff and possibly Dangerfield for some midfield 0's. All speculative. Haha :)

Hi Hawk.

The problem with picking the best available players on each line is that you'll be paying too much. History shows that the top 6-8 players are never the same from one year to the next. Even if you think the top 6 defenders will still be the top 6 defenders by the end of the year there is still a problem with the strategy. There is only a certain amount of money in the supercoach pool each year and as rookies gain in value anyone who maintains their scoring loses value. Lets say Coach A starts with the best 3 defenders and decides to trade in the next 3 during the year. He is buying the most expensive players at their most expensive and they are likely to lose the most in value. Coach B on the other hand starts with players 4-6 who are cheaper and less likely to lose value and he then buys players 1-3 during the year who are likely to drop more in price. Both coaches end up with the same six players by round 13 but Coach B has paid less and he also has given himself a chance to see who the top 6 will be without risking the extra cash.
Because you are starting with 4 of the 5 highest defenders you are increasing your chances of 1. Paying too much and 2. Not having the best players by the end of the year.
Even if you think these 4 will increase their average by up to 7% you can still pick them up during the year for somewhere near their starting price. The one who sticks out the most is Malceski. He had midfield numbers off the half back line which is hard to maintain even if he had stayed at Sydney.

Hope this all makes sense.

Didn't you have Fargo as your Avatar? Are you the man on fire?

Yeah it definitely makes sense. There's a few players I'm considering in the backline, Seedsman / Geary / Hibberd it might be an idea to downgrade Malceski to someone a touch cheaper, and squeeze an upgrade in somewhere. I did have BBT from Fargo as my display picture, but I changed it about a month ago to one of my favourite albums, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here.

Thanks for the advice, I keep all my screenshots, then go back to them as I make appropriate changes. Eventually I'll become settled with a solid starting team, going to take a lot of drafts though!

Thanks for your reply mate!

This!

I am amazed how many coaches just pick on history alone and scared to back their own judgement on a players development. Picking as if players are not going to change at all is nuts to me. Having said that picking a player to improve that you can see class in, is not easy. Sometimes the year they make the jump in scoring is a year after you were picking them. Did not have Gray last year but traded him in year before when every other man and his dog was seemingly going Dale Thomas.
It was amazing also how many were scared off Jacobs from 2013 season and convinced what he did in 2013 was what he would do in 2014.
Anyway, you won't get them all right but the aim is to get as many right as you can. Some people were convinced last year David Swallow would not get midfield time. For me he was lock in defense because I considered him an up and coming gun mid and his time in backline was just some injury or development or fitness based temporary move. There the types of picks I want to get more right on. Not easy but you got to get a few of them or you simply end up picking same team as a zillion others and even if it goes well you might have a decent ranking but little chance of winning.

Thanks guys, see if this works.
Would be easier though if I could just upload straight from my computer?

That is a different forward line! No Delidio, Martin, Goddard, Swan (almost a must to have at least two of them), no Clarke or Hogan either. You are paying top dollar for Gray and Harvey unproven premiums of Lynch, Christensen and Bontempelli (at @ 400K+ you want them as keepers). I wouldn't do it. But ****, could well pay off!

v2.0

Def Birchall, Lumumba, Cheney, Lever, Durdin, Maynard, Moore, Goddard
Mid Rockliff, Pendles, Selwood, Danger, Wines, B.Crouch, Van Berlo, Heeney, Leverde, Freeman Stretch
Ruck Luenburger, NicNat, Cox
Fwd Delidio, Ryder, Swan, Bontempelli, Clark, Hogan, Stelle, Krakour

$194k in the bank which i'm sure will be needed for twiddling with the rookies. Defence still scares me - too many rookies! Love this midfield though, Ablett may well find his way in if he's looking like, well, Ablett, but there's still too many question marks at the moment over shoulder/roll/new coach.

Back in Melbourne after my holidays, came up with the team below after much consideration!

DEF
Hibberd, Hurn, Newnes, Waters, Whitecross, Fuller (Goddard, Rainbow)

MID
Gaz, Pendles, Jelwood, Sloane, Ward, Heeney, Boekhorst, Dumont (Smith, McKenzie, Lambert)

RUC
Nic Nat, Berger (Read)

FWD
Lids, Goddard, Dusty, Swan, TBC, Hogan (Steele, Daniel)

$43,100 left
Bye structure is 11/10/9

A little bit light on DEF but I get 5 premos in the MID.
Quite happy with my RUC and FWD structure at the moment.
