Picked Cheney as well, with Truck gone and all the talk of Smith training with the midfield group and maybe spending more time there there's definitely a spot there for him, no doubt they didn't draft a 23yo with solid experience with the regining premier to remain a fringe AFL player. Same line of thinking with Lever assuming he's ready to play AFL foorball by round one, i could see there being a spot for him.
Cheney is just really Supercoach irrelevant to me, he's only scored more than 100 twice in 41 games over six years. Worst case scenario he averages 70 making a grand total of zilch, best case scenario in a new role he bumps his average up by 20 per cent to 84, that's not enough for a DEF keeper but he will only have made you $70k by the byes. Better options around, surely?

Lever is a KPD rookie, that spells danger Will Robinson.

Downgrade Van Berlo and upgrade Whitecross. Rucks fine, forwards fine, 5 premo mids are solid - just hope Steven can back in form which I am also hoping. Not sure about Ibbotson.

Wouldn't pick Rohan in a month of Sundays.

I haven't seen Watson in many/any teams. Is this likely to be due to the ongoing Saga or is there something else I am missing?

About a 15% chance to be my M5. Not sure if my M5 will be a premium, discounted premium or rookie yet, and if I do spend money here Watson is one of a few on my short list.

Biggest risk for mine with him, like Judd, is the chance for injury.

here's my v2, interesting what i've come up with. welcome feedback :)
On first glade it looks extremely mid-pricerish to me. Probably too much for my liking, but thats just my personal preference of G & R.
How much coin left over mate??

only $32k. just toying with the possibility of some mid-pricers being better value picks than 1st time premos. back line will remain pretty mid-priceish but might bump JZ to enhance my F2 and M4.

Hello All, my first post of 2015

This is just one of the teams I've been playing around with:

Def: Simpson, Shaw, Birchall, Hurn, Waters, Edwards (Goddard D/F, Maynard D/M)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, J Selwood, Ward, Heeney, Boekhorst, Vandenberg, Freeman, (Dumont, Krakouer M/F, Lambert M/F)
Ruc: Naitanui, Leuenberger (Read R/F)
Fwd: Deledio M/F, Goddard M/F, Martin M/F, Swan M/F, Bellchambers R/F, Clark (Hogan, Steele M/F)

Cash Leftover $136,500

Byes in each line: Def 2/3/3, Mid 2/5/4, Ruc 1/1/1, Fwd 2/4/2
Overall Bye Structure 7/13/10

Premos & Midpricers that will miss each bye round
Rd 11 Byes: Simpson, Birchall, Leuenberger, Deledio, Martin
Rd 12 Byes: Ablett, Pendlebury, Goddard, Swan, Bellchambers
Rd 13 Byes: Shaw, Hurn, Waters, Selwood, Ward, Naitanui

13 Keepers, 3 Mid Pricers, Clark & 5 Rookies on field.

DEFS: I love that they've gotten rid of the midfielder type players from the backline, it will definitely help make our teams more unique. You prob all know about my love of Malceski pick from last year if you've read any of my posts about him but sadly I can't justify starting him at his price. Three of my back premiums have burnt me in previous years and so I'm putting a lot of faith picking them in my team this year.
Simpson: He's averaged 93+ in his past 6 years so he's pretty consistent, had two stinkers last year but was able to ton up in half of his games.
Shaw: He's averaged 90+ every year since 2006 so as long as he doesn't have any brain fades he'll be in my team.
Birchall: He doesn't ton up a lot but his scores are generally consistent, just has the odd stinkers every now and then and also I had to pick a hawk player :)
Hurn: Oh Hurn, you pretty much single handedly ended my supercoach season from round 2, I trade you out and then you give out monster scores. Hoping that you having the captaincy will make you look your body more.

MIDS: Originally I intended to go for a 3 premo 7 rookie midfield but with the new addition with the mids, will feel more comfortable with a 4th premo and 7 rookies. Been uncertain with M4 all summer can still change up until first lockout.
GAJ & Pendles: LOCK LOCK LOCK
Selwood: I've had doubts about this guy for many years but he truly is a super premium
Ward: My current M4 and to me he's the GAJ of GWS when I saw his numbers last year.
Rookies: My M11 will definitely be a M/F.

RUC: This line is always the most difficult to get right for me. Last year my initial pick was Lobbe but I ended up picking Cox which ended up being such a fail. Also choosing Thurlow over Ben Brown. With one less ruck spot will see me not fail as much I hope.

Naitanui: Hopefully Cox retiring will help him and hope that Lycett doesn't steal too much ruck time off him. He is a beast when he's fit and firing and well underpriced. originally I wanted to get Goldstein due to his monster scores
Leuenberger: Hoping he can get some good scores up until the bye rounds.
Read: Best R/F rookie to have in terms of loopholing.

FWDS: So many M/F's to pick from, so little space to fit them all. My plan was to stack my fwd line with 5 M/F's with Clark at M6 but I couldn't afford anyone decent besides Tom Mitchell that so got a midpricer at M5.

Deledio/Goddard: Glad to be able to pick them both up as DPP again, this time as M/F's
Martin: Consistent scoring again from him last year but a bit hesitant to pick up both him and Delids so Martin could be Bartel b4 lockout.
Swan: Just hope he can bounce back and get a 95+ average and i'll be happy.
Bellchambers: He is the David Hale of 2014 aka my R/F swingman for this year. He should make some money if he can get an 80 odd average for a juicy upgrade:
Clark: Cheap and should fire in the geelong fwd line.

ROOKIES: All rookies subject to change pending preseason games*

My alternative for the R/F conundrum is to get leuenberger + bellchambers or switch to goldstein + fwd rookie but I will post this question int the X v Y thread.

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Was going to say the same thing, can see a few aspects of your side that also resemble mine which I hope is a good thing. :)

Martin: Consistent scoring again from him last year but a bit hesitant to pick up both him and Delids so Martin could be Bartel b4 lockout.
Just make sure you stick with Dusty, no panic trade out for Bartel before lockout unless a serious injury or something. Will absolutely dominate next year, and if you are going to get rid of him for someone else I would be looking elsewhere than Bartel.

Anyway all in all a great side. :)

Great side. Want to pick your brain.
4 premuim defenders and 136k left.
Could drop 1 and have 3 premuims and waters in defence and go a 5th premium midfielder.
Is the logic that you think defence rookies will be hard to come by? By no means saying YOU should, infact im educating myself on how people think different to myself when selecting there team.

Thanks GG, although most people team's that I've seen have generally the same Mids (GAJ,Pendles,Jelwood) Rucks (Nicnat,Leuey) & Fwds (Lids, God, Dusty & Swan) as me.

Excellent advice there about sticking to Dusty haha, I'll make sure I don't panic trade b4 lockout.

Great side. Want to pick your brain.
4 premuim defenders and 136k left.
Could drop 1 and have 3 premuims and waters in defence and go a 5th premium midfielder.

Thanks BC,
My logic is that I believe having 5 premium mids is wayyy too many. Sure you would be able to score heaps of points early on, but long term you might not be able to generate a lot of cash with the missed rookie in the mids as midfield rookies tend to score better and make more cash. So yes I do think defence rookies will be hard to come by. Last year I saw few teams in my leagues with 3 prems and 7 rookies in the middle, they were able to generate cash a lot much quicker than me and ended up smashing me by years end. Also that extra $136k that I have, could be used to find the next Dom Tyson type player by upgrading one of my current mid rookies. Hope that makes some sense lol.

Hmm, always struggled a bit with this logic. You're really comparing the 7th best mid rookie (i.e., not a Dom Tyson), who would take your M11 spot, against a ~3rd best rookie in the forward/defence lines. Sure, the mid rookie will still likely score more and make more money, but I don't think the gap is quite as pronounced as people seem to assume. I'd be comfortable with a 5-premo structure.

Geez some ripper teams floating around already. Tamuhawk especially very very solid.

With that here's V.3 of mine.

Smith, Hibberd, Birchall, Hurn, Johnson, Fuller, Edwards, Goddard.

I've been pretty set with my Def since the picker came out. All underpriced players bar Smith, but I strongly think he will go 100+ this year best kick in the league in my opinion.

Gaz, Pendles, Ward, Danger, Heeney, Boekhurst, Vandenberg, Freeman, Anderson, Atkins, Amon.

Mids speak for themselves really. Perma captain combo. Ward is an absolute star and Danger is too cheap to ignore.

Goldstien, NicNat, Cox

Set an forget. The two highest scoring ruckman for the year hopefully.

Deliddio, Franklin, Martin, Swan, Mitchell, Clark, Hogan, Laverde

Pretty standard Fwd line have opted Mitchell instead if TBC at F5 as I'm really not buying into his capabilities. Won't be surprised if Giles goes straight to first ruck at the Dons.

5.5 k in the bank which isn't ideal but gives me 15 keepers in the starting side. Any feedback would be great thanks guys.

Very solid team Russ. The only player i'm not sure of is Ward with the introduction of Griffen. I think we will see the GWS mids flatten out in terms of SC scoring output with him in their side. Ward and Treloar to drop 2-5ppg, then you have Shiel, Scully, Whitfield, Greene and Coniglio spreading the load in the midfield. That's just my opinion though.

Big Russ, a side with 15 keepers and maybe Mitchell as a 16th coupled with some v. good rookies as we know them now, this is a beaut. side. I like Johnson in the backline. Could be a great kick off for you. Set and forget rucks, both have the rd.13 bye, but that will be light years away at kick off.

Getting a full deck in the mids may prove difficult but with enough DPP FWD/MID's around, nice.
