Yeah, they are just holding at the moment. Planning to run a F/D FD and after reading your analysis in the rookie thread, it will probably be Ueberang (sp.)
With Wyatt (R/F), I can put him at R2 with Gawn as emergency and execute the captain loophole with no dramas. But what about this scenario? I want to exploit both the emergency and captain loophole, so I sit him at F6 with Menadue as an emergency. Let's say Menadue scores 27, but Ablett (VC) scores 132. IF BOTH of Goldy and Gawn have played and IF Grimley has played, then I need to decide whether to cop Menadue's 27 in order to lock away a 132X2, or bring McDonald-Tipungwuti on and set Fyfe as captain. However, if Grimley and one of Goldy/Gawn has not yet played, I could swap Wyatt into the rucks, set Goldy/Gawn as emergency, and play McDonald-Tipungwuti, therefore taking Ablett's captain score and having a second chance to increase my onfield rookie score. A very handy bit of flexibility to have, for sure.
If I start Uebergang, then I have the flexibility to loop either a forward or a defender on any given week, an instant +1 on Wyatt. However, if my emergency scores poorly and my VC pumps out a big score, then I am stuck in that situation where I have to decide between poor rookie plus good captain score, or risk a smaller captain score in order to play a better rookie. Of course, we draw lines at certain scores. If the VC score is greater than 130, it should probably be locked in, regardless of a pathetic rookie score.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: After looking at the fixture, we tend to play before Collingwood often, rendering Grimley useless to swap with Wyatt. This leans me towards Uebergang, however I am still keen to hear the communities thoughts on this.
