Mentioned previously in the TV thread but I think it suits this thread better regarding Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast. Some great recent episodes featuring Charles Fox, Beverly D’Angelo, Live Singalong and Trivia Show and the 60th Anniversary Twilight Show Panel.

Also would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations for other podcasts to potentially listen to.

One to store away in the memory banks for next year. I played the Tour de France fantasy and found it pretty interesting. The website was pretty good. It wasn’t that onerous and I played it pretty casually. I didn’t do that well but will be better for the run (as they say).

Seemed like it was the sort of comp where you had to nail your early trades for riders that won stages. Missed Alaphilippe early and that cost me a bunch of points. Still finished ok, but that was mainly due to decent starting team with Bernal, Thomas and van Aert who did well early on before withdrawing.

Be good to have more guys on board next year! Will make sure there is plenty more notice than the 5-6hrs I gave this time round!

Agree. You had to nail your starting side and could really only switch from sprinters to GC contenders once. I think a few more trades would make it a bit better. The limitations on the number of team leaders and sprinters (possible stage winners) I think was a good idea.

I traded in Alaphillipe but then traded him out on the first mountains stage for Thomas who I expected to go past him. Poor choice as he hung on to yellow for about another week. Missed Bernal but thought trio of Thomas, Kruijswijk and Pinot was going to pay off. I thought Pinot was going to win it until he got hurt but in hindsight Bernal was always going to take some beating.

Captains choice each night was critical but thought it was good that only the stage points each night were doubled rather than the points awarded in the classifications.

The AFL really need to have a good hard look at themselves, and realise they need to stop dicking around with the game!
All these rule changes, made by people that are historically "Johnny-come-lately" types end up having the opposite effect of what was intended!!!!

Too much scragging off the ball? - We'll introduce more umpires to pick up these infringements.
Result? - Free kicks being paid at a rate of nearly 50% of 30 years ago!!!

Game too congested, and scoring not high enough? - We'll introduce zones, and reduce interchange numbers.
Result? - We are in the lowest scoring period of the game in a very, VERY long time!
Ess 4 goals, GWS 4 goals, North 1 goal.
Carlton kicked their first goal of the game with 2 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. They have never had a goalless first half against Richmond in 221 matches!!!!

Great job, AFL!!!!!

You adminstrators are Johnny-come-latleys, and do not know better than the people that came over 100 years before you!!!

Un-do the debacle you have made. Tell umpires to pay incorrect disposal when it is there. Keep your filthy fingers off our game!!!!!

Don't get me started on this topic as I have a hell of a lot to say .... basic answer is to keep the rule changes out of the hands of the current muppet/s in charge !!

I'm still not sure how I comprehend that the game was in such a dire state that it required "9" rules changes instigated all at once ...

Also not convinced that any have improved the game:

- as a TV spectacle I'm sure Gills gang will promote the closeness of the games as an asset for ratings but as a long time footy lover I'm quickly losing interest !! might as well tune into the last quarter like many other sports these days ...

- from a ticket holder perspective looking to attend a game .... each to our own but I personally wouldn't be forking out dollars to see my team score less than 6 goals in a game ... killing the golden goose IMO with all the rule changes ...

Spot on!
I remember in the 80's, there was a period where they complained it was too high scoring!
People were talking rule changes then, but it never happened. The game evolved, the Coaches adapted, and everything was good again!
Why do they feel they have to force changes? The game, like every high level sport, evolves with time. People adapt. Don't try to make the adaption fit your agender. Let it happen naturally!
Muppets indeed!

Anyone know what would happen if Adelaide and Port both finished on the same points and exact same percentage in 8th and 9th spot? (I.e with exact same for and against points). What would be the tie breaker for one of them to make the eight...? Wins against the other side?

I heard somebody say in the aftermath of the Cricket World Cup final that a tie like that is resolved in the AFL by a coin toss.
