Update on some Carlton defenders...

Carlton captain Sam Docherty has successfully returned to full training at Ikon Park, following two years ruined by ruptured ACLs.

The 26-year-old had career years across 2016 and 2017, before the significant setbacks.

Everything remains on track for Docherty to run out as Blues skipper for the first time in Round 1 of 2020 and backline coach Dale Amos was full of praise for the work he has put in.

“He’s in fantastic shape … he’s training as well as anyone and he’s back in full training,” Amos told Carlton Media.

“He’s been really influential within the playing group, which has forced him to find ways to influence things not just with his on-field stuff.

“We’re really excited about what he’s going to produce over the coming weeks.”

Sam Petrevski-Seton: “‘Samo’ had a really impressive final 6-8 weeks last year. He looked really comfortable across half back and got better every single week. We’re excited that he’ll be able to get a pre-season where he can hone his craft and hopefully spend some more time across half back.”

Tom Williamson: “Tom had an issue with his back last year which didn’t really give him the chance to get on the park: it was frustrating for him and disappointing no doubt for our fans. He’s building up really nicely and is back into most of training now. He’s an exciting young player who we’re really looking forward to seeing more footy from. We want to get him out on the park and playing week in, week out. He’s progressing really nicely and hopefully we’ll get to see some footy from him really soon.”

I'm not completely up to speed with Docherty if anyone can help.
Did he do the same knee twice?
Did they choose a different technique the second time?
Has he changed his preparation this time?
He seemed to miss a lot of games at Brissy didn't he?
Obviously a star when he's going but 2 years out is a lot.

Are we that short for defenders that SPS is in the conversation?

Don't look at me, I was just providing dodgy stats so people can make their own case :sneaky:.

It's an informative picture though: 6 games below 65, 5 games above 100. When he's on he's quality, when he goes missing he's worse than a rookie.

Average in wins is 94.7 with a low of 75. Maybe if you thought Carlton were going to clock 10 wins...

I looked up SPS's average SC score from the u-18 Championships in the prospectus. 93. That's not as high as i expected. Oh well!
