I've put Robbie in my team after one of your posts BigRuss because he doesn't have to get back to his best to be a good pick. But Wingard would have to get back to what we think is his absolute best and even then I don't think he would hurt non owners. His best years still included lots of goals. In 2013 he was only 4 goals behind Jay Schultz and in 2015 he was Port's leading goal kicker. Hawthorn have Gunston, Breust, Lewis, Patton and Puopolo who would all like some goals.
Don’t blame me when Robbie pulls a groin round 3 then :ROFLMAO: I don’t like to try and tak people into players, I’m just relaying information. That being said when he’s fit he’s one of the best handful of players running around and by all reports, he’s bloody fit.

Interestingly enough Wingard best years at Port were when he was part of a functional forward line, which Hawthorn have traditionally shown. He averaged a shade under 103 when played as a mid full time at Port in his last season, off the back of 2 back to back soft tissue injuries in the pre season too.

He’s clearly not for everyone, but when I look through the forward eligible players trying to find the ones who look to be midfielders, he stands out like dogs balls. As I said in a different thread, each year the top forwards are exactly those types players.

I’m predicting a career year for Chad if he stays fit, Hawks will turn him into the player we never could.

Chad Wingard always bounces back after a down year...:)

2012/13: 19/52 (debut season) to 22/99
2014/15: 21/80 to 22/98
2016/17: 18/81 to 18/93
2019/20: 14/76 to ???
but he only averages 90+ in odd years ? (except last year , so he might start a new trend)

although he did so in.his second year at Port so maybe he does so again at Hawthorn ?

Surely Robbie Gray is going to play forward rather than mid. Can't see us getting the ball forward much this year. :( Unless it's kicking to no one in the pocket to get a stoppage.

………..Dangerfield expects ex-Saint Jack Steven and former Adelaide teammate Josh Jenkins to play key roles, as they look to cover the loss of All-Australian midfielder Tim Kelly.

“We’re in good shape, as many clubs are,” the 2016 Brownlow Medallist told SEN's Dwayne's World.

Jack’s a four-time best and fairest winner. He had a bit of a hiccup pre-Christmas with his calf, but he’s been flying ever since,” Dangerfield said.
“He’s a really determined character and you can see why he’s been such a good player.

Josh will certainly feature for us and play a role in the forward line and potentially further up the ground as well.”...…….

still your best inside mid though.

Charlie will be 100% , Ebert plays forward , maybe Bergman/Cox , depends how much mid time Rozee gets.

Noticed Gray is still DPP so must have spent enough time mid last season.

Seemed to rotate a lot with Boak late last season , when Rocky was more forward.

If I was Kenny I would be starting him in 75% of the CBA minimum

Robbie is a superstar. I just think we are in transition. Unless there is evidence to the contrary, I can't see him getting much mid time. Our new draftee forwards seem pretty raw. Rozee and Butters seem likely to increase their mid time. I'm not sure Ebert is an automatic in? (Although he could take sgrays role) See what happens. Sack Hinkley!

I would love to put Robbie in my team. He would have been an elite midfielder maybe still could be. However I have had in my team many times and every time he has weeks in row up forward and therefore has poor scoring weeks. I can‘t see his midfield time increasing as he gets older.

Actually a bit surprised how Whitfield was able to improve his avg by 12 points last year with barely any substantial improvements on his stat categories. Avged .3 disposals, 1 mark and a handful of goals more than his 2018 campaign. On the other hand his D.E dropped 5% and his tackles per game took a small hit. Makes me think he did well early on in games while they were close or was clutch in tight games towards the end. Wont be enough for me to reconsider picking him, but can see him going 100-105 this season, especially in an even more stacked GWS side

His contested possessions are up by 1.2 but effective disposals went down by 1.3 so they cancel out. Clearances don't earn you SC points and he scored about 8 goals more over 19 games. A goal itself being worth around 7-8 points thats only about 3ppg more from them.

cheap marks too per game up. twice as many goals in 25% less game does help.

injuries worry me the most. sa whim this week, very slim in build.
