Can't believe we're 3 pages in and everyone has missed Patrick Cripps (myself included). If he doesn't explode in the last few weeks he'll be well under 600k - if you're looking for that cheaper M5 he will be hard to go past right?

Yep, I reckon he's probably the most underpriced of the elite guys, and I reckon they're the one you always want to start. I'm pretty confident Neale won't outscore him by 40+ next year.

Heppell could be worth some thought. Not THAT old yet and could be some value with a good preseason if he gets the full 30% discount and they use 89 rather than 94 (2019 avg) for calculating his price. I doubt he's back this season to mess up the averages but even if he is, probably could just make his price cheaper with scores under 90.

I have a potential starting price of around 340k (5450 x 89 x 0.7). With Heppell as my DP I may just need to start him at that price

I’ll pick the rucks first. Most likely Gawn and Grundy again although English and ROB are coming along OK. Can’t see anyone below this really taking the step up to viable.
After that, it really depends on rookies available. Hard to gauge with no reserve comps. If they do pop up (they usually do), most likely be running with a 3-5-2-3 keeper structure (or variations).
I find 5 mids is the sweet spot generally, means FWD and DEF aren’t too compromised and leaves room to trade in some of the better performing mids. I’d prefer to start less of the top priced kids next year. Started Macrae, Bont, Jelly, Danger and Fyfe. They all started slower (except Fyfe) than I expected but have gradually warmed into the season. It’s tough to nail them because every year you get sucked into thinking that they’ll at least maintain their level and there always unexpected bolters or guys who perform better than you expect (Neale for me).
Not keen on midpricers in the mids but don’t mind having them FWD or DEF. More players like a Doedee would be ideal.
That being said, may seem more midpricers in teams next year depending on the footy landscape.

The one thing I have done well this year is not to sideways trade keepers unless forced to through injury. We often see the winners of SC being quite aggressive with their trades, and often they will trade out underperforming keepers quite early. The aspect that gets less spoken about is nailing who they trade in, which is itself a bit of science (one that I struggle with lol).

I look forward to being able to assess rookies after 2 games, though. That is something that has been frustrating this year.

Forward line will be a disaster next year. We get gifted a gun mid with DPP every season but will lose most the best ones.

Don’t mind it though.

The 31 he scored against Essendon was injury affected and taken off quite early. The 39 and 48 both in his first 3 games back from the ACL.

Very good footballer. Uses the ball well and intercepts. I imagine the ball will be spending a lot of time in Adelaide’s back half too. Concern is injury history now. Knee and hurt hamstring twice this year. Should be good-to-go for start of pre-season, though. Based of the games he has played in his short career, he is definitely one to consider if he has a good pre-season.

They were saying the latest hamstring was related to the tendon that they used as a graft for his knee reconstruction (not sure that is explained correctly , not a doctor or physio) so not sure if that could cause more possible complications moving forward.

One of the smartest footballers I have seen in recent years , unbelievable ability to read the play.

Ogilvie certainly surprised the majority over here picking him up at 17 , hopefully he gets his body 100% , could very well captain the Crows for 10 years.

Still surprises me he is only listed as 188.

I'm thinking he likely will be. The last sort of month or so he's been almost always starting off HB.

Each week I have been checking the AFL Player Ratings page on twitter, but due to his injury impacted game earlier in the year he isn't making it into any of the summaries they do which show positions based on % lined up throughout the year. Which has been really frustrating! Hahah

Might make things interesting starting him & Lloyd , trying to nail that D3 from the outset.

At this stage I'm thinking more strategy than players and heres some very early thoughts
1. remember we will be back to 30 trades, well most likely anyway so generating cash is important for overall. Trades wont be free in 2021
2. Captain choices first, 2 of. price irrelevant
3. When selecting mids, choose those likely to have lower std deviation ie the guys who wont come down heaps in $$. the guys who seem to be up/down eg Bont are trade in targets, not starting squad material. easier said than done
4. Keep breakout selections to fwd and def only. there is less incentive to take risk in the mids
5. remember that most Def and Fwd players seem to drop below $500k at some point so dont overpay
6. trade hard early to generate cash
7. never fall in love with rookies. they are the to generate cash and thats it
8. if going for overall, you are better to have 14 premiums in your starting sqaud as its one less upgrade and more points on field, thoeretically anyway
9. use every dollar in your starting squad as possible. too often i have left 300k+ in the bank at round 1 just in case. far better to have that on field as you effectively have that getting you points every week until team is complete. did some analysis last year and its like 400+ points over those 12-14 rounds
10. No eagles players ( just my own rule!)

Sidebottom and Zorko both got F status added in AFL Fantasy , I wonder if they could be F/M in SC next season.

Sidebottom could be close to $ 600k though.
