It also means we have basically checked out of this years draft.. any chance we redraft some players we delisted?
Can't see us doing much in this draft with what we have left. Could be smart trading out of what is essentially the most compromised draft in history with all the NGA, Father/Son picks plus the lack of football the young potential draftee's had in 2020. It's a real crapshoot this year.
The downside is after trading out of last years draft to nab Kelly... We are creating an age gap in our list which is not ideal going into the future. We need to really hit the draft hard next year, which appears what we intend on doing.
Reid, Mitch O'Neill, Treacy, Schofield, Watson, Brayshaw are all gone. As is Hickey who's off to Sydney. That leaves Ah Chee, Hutchings, Vardy & Jetta without contracts.... Vardy will get a 1yr deal now Hickey is gone, Have heard Ah Chee has been offered a F/T job with the Wirrapunda Foundation and a spot playing for the WAFL Eagles... with the chance of getting rookie listed again with the new mini drafts after rounds 4,8,12 or whatever they are that are being introduced next season. Jetta & Hutchings I think will be delisted.
I really hope we pick-up Alec Waterman again as a delisted FA, he could be very handy with the way he played in the WAFL this year.
If we pick up Witherden cheap, along with the Zac Langdon pick-up... and the extra draft picks next year... I think we would have done very well with Hickey being the only real cost. Both Witherden & Langdon fill Best 22 needs and should slot in well.
