I'm sure I will likely end up with Grawn/Gruwn combo - but the slightest bit of injury or concern, they are gooooone. I felt sure leaving Gawn out for first round was the best move last season... until he got a 2 month rest till round 2? Ha.

And A Grawn option

What's your logic on McCluggage? Do you think he will move into the midfield (on-ball)?

Heeney pretty popular on this site, anyone expecting he will have a role change. Wasn't keen last year with him forward and with Swans in rebuild mode and JPK getting that one year older. Can see he is discounting for playing less than 10 games, maybe I am just league focused and don't want inconsistent scoring.
I think a midfield move is unlikely but not impossible. He generally averages 95 up forward anyway, but hard to see him being worth it personally given his injury history.

Hello
I am considering both options:
Cost: $853,800

View attachment 24119
  • Maximum Scoring
  • Set and forget
Con
  • Both have Round 14 Bye
  • No Cash generation
  • More Expensive $107,900
Vs

Cost: $745,900

  • Cash generation
  • Bye Rounds covered
  • Save $107,900
Con
  • Need to use a trade
  • Loss of points against Gawn
  • Expensive Bench
Note: I am using Nankervis as an example considering his scores in the last 3 finals (I expect his scoring to improve with longer quarters in 2021)
  • Coming back from injury Rounds 14 - 17 and sharing the Ruck with Soldo
  • Soldo injured in Round 17 (Out for 2021)
  • Round 18 & Qualifying final shared Ruck with Chol

What are peoples thoughts on the two options?
Yes this set up did enter my thoughts, but lots of money on the bench just didn’t sit right.????.

Instead of Preuss, I moved to Hepple on field at M5. Similar price point and expected average until the byes. 90+. With Hepple at M5 allows me to also to find the funds to get Gawn.

Gawn / Grundy just fills me with confidence. And as all are aware great weekly options for the VC/C

Yes Gawn will loose money, but I not selecting Gawn to make money.

The question for me is how overpriced is Gawn, can he come close to 139 or will he drop back to about 125? Can you pick him after his best season when he is about to turn 30?

I think he benefitted a little bit from the shorter quarters and the tendency of SC points to value impact more last season. It's a bit difficult to judge for sure and not starting him is dangerous and carries risks .

You could be left with Preuss scoring poorly or you could be falling way behind the teams who have him and are using him as a captaincy option every week. He could be very hard to bring in at a huge price

I'm leaning towards not starting him but time will tell.
Gawn is averaging 130.9 over the last three seasons and is now in his prime. He doesn’t turn 30 until December next year. It would be a brave player not to start him. He averaged 139.9 last season playing through a shoulder tear that needed surgery.

Hmmm. Not a positional move... Was playing injured after the Geelong match. He missed a lot of goals... think he will improve.. but yeah - I've already removed him. lol. I may as well not post another team in fact. swings and roundabouts

Very SC friendly playing style and is able to score at a premium level in a variety of roles. A constant reminder to temper expectations as some coaches seem to be very disappointed that he hasn’t managed a 105+ season average yet.

Since 2017:
I Heeney with L Franklin: 97.11 from 45 (11/45 below 80, 22/45 below 100, 10/45 120+)
I Heeney without L Franklin: 93.91 from 22 (9/22 below 80, 15/22 below 100, 3/22 120+)

Yeh seems to play through his injuries which probably contributes to a few of his lowest scores.

While looking at info on Zac Williams I came across this on DT talk website. Although the article was about Williams the comment about Cripps was what I found interesting. Not sure if this affects his scoring or not. Nor could I find anything recent after a quick look online to confirm that "indication".

He will be called upon most frequently for his speed on the outside but with the Blues indicating Cripps will be spending more time forward, Williams is more than capable of having an impact on the inside as well.

Williams is in a new team in a new role. What roll that is will be revealed pre season. More time in the midfield more chance of injury. History already with hamstrings and Achilles injuries.

Cripps is a tempting price, but has been bashed from pillar to post last 3 seasons and with shoulder surgery in the off season, big chance he rests forward a lot early in the season. Last years stats the worst since his rookie year. ??.

I wanted to go Preuss, but then I had to weight the extra trade and would the additional 400K make up the difference in points elsewhere.

Previous advice in this thread convinced me, there is better value players out there, I have taken the easy way with Gawn/Grundy.

What convinced me to switch from Preuss to Gawn was Preuss's injury history. Apparently he has had a few injuries in the past so he's not 100% guaranteed to play 22. Add the fact that Mumford is there and it's not a sure thing that he'll be excellent enough as an R2 to risk losing out on Gawn 140s.
