Dunkley vs. Ryan ?

And does anything change if it's...

Dunkley vs. Ryan vs. Martin vs. Daniel ?
I’d like to see Ryan’s role before committing just to make sure he’s still on kickout duty but I think he and Dunkley are far ahead of the other 2 on scoring potential, could both conceivably end up #1 in their positions. Don’t think that’s true of either Dusty or Daniel.

I think this is one of those questions that depends on the risk profile of the rest of your team.

But personally I'm not willing to pay the price for Ryan when he is capable of throwing in a string of low ones. I'd have both the forwards ahead of the defenders. Dunkley with a higher ceiling and lower floor and more injury risk so depends on what you want from this pick. On balance I'd probably have it:

Martin
Dunkley
Daniel
Ryan

in terms of their desirability as starting picks.

Docherty, Macrae and Dunkley vs Lloyd, Jelly and T Phillips
Tough one but option 1 for mine. Basically..

Option 1 - Likely top 6 forward and PIT60 top 8-10 mid. Doch is a bit of an unknown but if he plays out the season you wouldn't be too disappointed with him being a D6. Overall, barring injury all 3 could be season keepers and not set you back.

Option 2 - Top 6 defender but I don't think Kelly will be top 8-10 in PIT60 terms and I'm not sold on Phillips maintaining a scoring level to be a viable keeper (and any scenario where he requires a trade heavily tips it towards option 1). Barring injury you have 2 keepers and 1 who will need an upgrade, plus one of those keepers has injury history so carries additional risk.

I like both but don't overthink Cripps. He should be the first midfielder picked.
Agreed - he carries virtually zero risk this season as everyone will most likely start him, and those that don't probably have an equally as risky player around the same price instead.

Definitely Ryan, no uncertainty about his role. Daniel slightly ahead of Dusty given their relatives ages.
1. Ryan
2. Daniel
3. Dusty
4. Dunkley
While I don't disagree with your rankings, I would just say I think there is a fair bit of uncertainty about the make up of Freo's back 6 or 7 this year, with the possible reintroduction of Hamling, Pearce and Young, that there must be a small question mark as to whether this will impact Ryan's role/scoring.

Hadyn Young taking kick ins during practice match I read somewhere. Watch the preseason game.

For the "kids" team most likely - I recall it was old farts versus kids in the article I read on it?

I see the question marks around Ryan, but if anything the return of KPD's means more freedom to play the loose defender role he has been playing, which I suspect is what JL will likely want him continuing with ala Howe at Collingwood.

Yeah Ryan took them for one side. And Young took them for the other side.

Just depends on how many rookies are viable.
If you can pick the GnR in this one, do it.
Versus an iffy midfielder pick (in my mind anyway) and effectively a pricey rookie.

Although if you commit to Steele + Rookie, then you'll soon land in the next X v Y of Steele/Macrae/Oliver :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Got Walsh atm. But he keeps changing to Cripps, Got burnt by Cripps last season. Walsh v Cripps....
As a Carlton supporter I always try to not have too many Carlton players in my team for the obvious fear of bias.
This is the first time I have had Cripps in my starting team and I can't see him leaving.
In previous pre seasons I have talked him down on this forum due to my view that he handballs too much for sc and doesn't kick enough goals.

But, this year I find his price irresistible and am looking forward to supporting him both on field and in fantasy sport.

Walsh is not currently in my team although he is already a gun and will hopefully be a regular in my team over many years.

I feel he may be pushed back to outside and that is not where he increased his sc output last season so given my preference is for not too many Carlton players in my team Cripps wins this x v y for me.
