Damien Barrett said Fyfe is out indefinitely, due to this been one off many series head knocks for him. Longmuir said they are not going to put a time frame on him coming back.
If they say he will be back in 1-2 weeks I would keep him the uncertainty of it I don’t like.
That and his forward role is enough for me to trade him. My own fault for starting him when we all know he misses a lot of footy.

I'm a little bit surprised that so few are considering trading in Logan McDonald. He is in less than 10% of teams, costs less than $200K, averaging nearly 80 and projected to get to around 400K by the byes. Am I missing something? Thinking he might be the rookie everyone regrets not picking this year (including me).

Or I might even go Fyfe and Caldwell to Dunkley and Butters. A couple of corrections.

I wasn't sold on Butters, even yesterday, but I'm coming around to the idea today.

Really worried about not having Dunkley, concerned his price might skyrocket and I'll be left behind. I also don't want to miss possibly his biggest score for the season on Friday night.

Trading Fyfe feels a bit dirty but with uncertainty regarding the timeframe for his return, paired with spending majority of his time forward makes me keen to trade.

Sounded like it’s something that he’ll get over eventually. May continue to put in 85-100 type scores in the short term but once fit, could push that 110+ range which we would’ve been expecting.

Don’t quite agree that he has only downside. Will lose say 20-30k but still has upside of 110+ scoring in a few rounds once fit. Score 65 odd in his first half against the Tigers from memory so elite scoring potential is still there.

Likely to keep in the short term and re-assess. With cash lost minimal, decision doesn’t necessarily need to be made this week (as opposed to say a Neale type who may lose 100-120k in 2 weeks).
Thanks for posting that video. Hadn't seen that yet.
I agree that there's enough said there to be reasonably confident that he will get over his niggle and find form. I can't get him up to anyone I'm overly confident in anyway so holding for now looks the right move for my team.

Awkward price point, many don't have the cash laying around, little bit more gets you to Impey. Kids a gun, Richmond this week, Buddy getting more of the ball, 70-75 ave sees you get to $350k.

Many have missed 1-2 of the sub $125k rookies and then also want to trade a Neale Cripps etc to another premium.

Sums it up perfectly in my opinion (and I normally don't have a lot of time for David King as a pundit). If he's going to be effective for Carlton it'll be in a different role to what we're used to. What we're used to is what we paid for, and there's nowhere in Carlton's team for him to go upwards in terms of role (half back is just about our strongest line). Definite trade.

Young key forwards score too inconsistently, cant get away with it at 200k, he may defy the trend as hes a super talent but Max King wasn't able to in a side that finished top 6, feel 60-70 is where his average will settle and you can get that out of guys that are 120k.

Richmond this week could also be a massive speed hump to his cash generation but as I always say back your gut with trades don't let others influence your decision making.

Going head over heart.

Sharp / Scott ~> Jordan / Impey (subject to Scott getting dropped)

Means i ride out Neale & Cripps for better or worse.
Might be some short term pain but in the long run cash generation should be the priority, can't hold two rookies getting you nowhere this early in the season for mine.

I think I'm in that situation too.
If you wanted to trade both, Neale would have to be the one to go this week, as is set to lose $50k more than Cripps. I have both and will now likely keep Cripps as a wait and see, given news on Fyfe expected to be out significantly longer than 1 week.

I'm prepared to hang on to Gaff and back him in.
What has Gaff done that warrants backing him in so far? Got him in DT and I can't see how I can justify holding him at this point and as @chewy posted earlier in the thread, the style change may have hurt how he gets some of his touches -

Just on Gaff, at the game today I watched him a fair bit because I've got him in RDT, but I noticed that the new rules have pretty-much bypassed the need to have a number of loose outlet players from 40-70m out.

The entire defence gets pushed back at the kick-in so your back pockets and KPDs are at that area where the second kick used to go, which was generally to a wingman playing on the defensive half of the ground. That used to be Gaff's area where he won a lot of the footy, but now he's not needed nearly as much.

Basically he hasn't become obsolete, because teams are still using that kick, it's just far rarer that they do use it because the area is generally packed with players so there's very little space. He might need to reinvent himself, but at this stage he's an easy trade-out for me from a DT perspective.
