Has anyone else considered making a more mid priced team and then hoping that the season ends up like last year and we get extra trades?
I'm considering a more mid priced team based on a lack of confidence in rookies getting a consistent run of games this season considering they missed most of last year.

heres something i just cooked up, not sure about some of them

i originally wanted t.Adams instead of Steele due to POD and hes cheaper, Dusty i see will be yet another ball and free-kick magnet and i like how houli plays plus he didnt get the good end of the stick due to covid last year

let me know what you think, bit rusty due to the long break between seasons, might've forgotten some tips and tricks, or stats about players
pretty much open to anything that will give me the edge on my h2h this year
If we get 3 playing rookies on each line consistently then I'd be shocked. Nothing wrong with what you have at all though, but I'd have a contingency in place come teams being named Rd 1 for 2 rookies in each line being named if you can.

Whitfield bruised liver, probably won't line up R1, but not sure.

Look who is back πŸ˜€ and still with $ 102 k bench rookies that are unlikely to play at all (which caused all your problems last year).

Obviously until Round 1 no one knows what rookies will play but at least give your team a chance by using some that might start.

My suggestion would be to use players who are at least $ 123,900.00 on your bench to then give you some $$$ to work with (always easier to adjust downwards if need be)

Read through the thread to get a idea but here is a quick start

D: Gould , McLennan
M: Bianco , Mead , Valente
R: Treacy βœ“ (actually fine to use)
F: Cockatoo , Jones (Ess)

No guarantees any of them play Round 1 either.

A few of the popular $ 117k guys are Downie , Durdin , Laurie & Rowe.

Macrae @ $ 126k

Your team doesn't look too bad injury concerns for Whitfield , Mitchell , Houli & Dangerfield at this stage.

Fix up that bench (remember the importance of bench players playing from the start to generate $$$ to then use for upgrades)

ok been reading about Gawn , Grundy & Preuss so here's a thought , don't start any of them πŸ˜€

call me crazy , but it wouldn't be the same with out a crazy idea and crazy team

D: Laird * , Stewart , Docherty , Zac Attack + 2

M: Neale , Oliver , Macrae , Jelly , Fyfe , Cripps , Campbell * , Finrae

R: MARSHALL * , McEVOY *

F: Heeney , JZ , Joey , Impey + 2

13 possible keepers + the 3 premo forward rookies

how good does that midfield look 😍

If and when Fyfe & Jelly break turn them into R1 & R2

This could be the year πŸ€—

If you go into the season thinking that any of Ziebell, Daniher or Impey are keepers then you're going to have a bad time.

I see 13 possible keepers there which is the same as plenty of Grawndy teams.

It is a crazy team though, I'll give you that.

*** Edited by you to read 13 keepers instead of 16 keepers just as I responded.

Not sure if I'm going to join the dance this year after a thoroughly traumatic 2020 season, but I'm going through the motions for now until I figure out if I want to commit to the upcoming season or not:

Kinda feels like I'm going a bit too deep in the mids (even with Laird probably ending you in defence) and not deep enough up forward.

There are obviously a few in there who are up in the air (Williams, Witherden, Green, Ziebell, Hutchings) but I'll wait to see how their roles pan out in terms of more midfield time or (in WItherden's case) whether he gets the kick in duties.

To be honest, I'm not sure I prefer it over my current midfield (Neale, Steele, Petracca, Crouch, Walsh & Cripps) and I have Gawn and Grundy!
McEvoy just too much risk for mine, would need a clear indication that he's the #1 ruck and that it isn't changing.

Also seeing a Pies fan dodge Grundy completely unnerves me :) Stop it!

Amended my original post.

Think the only crazy name their is actually McEvoy , the majority of the rest have been in every RMT to date.

Actually think the big difference is Fyfe & Kelly.

It's actually fairly easy picking a 13 keeper side with Gawn & Grundy (depending on a definition of a keeper)

eg

Laird , Stewart , Docherty , Williams
Neale , Oliver , Cripps , Rowell , Taranto
Gawn , Grundy
Marshall , Heeney with Z , D , I

is fairly easy to do with enough rookies priced under F Macrae.

Amended mine too ;)

Yeah, much prefer that structure you have with Gawn and Grundy. Very similar to what I'm running at the moment.

Still taking Fyfe & Jelly until they break πŸ˜€

Petracca & Steele will be very interesting to see how they perform this season.

If you watch Crouch every week surely not , definitely in RDT though.

Haven't been 100% on Grundy for months to be honest.

Something definitely not right with him last year (aside from what has been reported) , teams certainly worked him out more , think the loss of Treloar will hurt us big time , outside of Pendles , Sidey & Adams we severely lack , maybe Steak Knives plays mid more and adds some grunt.

Don't think Grundy doesn't take enough marks either and his midfield link up play wasn't their.

Scores suffer with Cameron.

Don't think he is the clear R2 choice this year as everyone thinks.

And I could be completely wrong on everything I just wrote πŸ˜€

PS McEvoy DPP helps a lot , can hide him at D6/D7.

Are you Ziebell at F1 or F2 ?
