"He had a little bit of a calf niggle, but he's a different athlete to the one that played pretty well for St Kilda towards the end of last season. We're pretty confident that that's been a good move for us,” Scott said.

Your guess is as good as mine. Makes little to no sense to me. ??‍♂️

I think he's just saying he's much fitter now and that even when not fit last year he still played pretty well for the Saints

Just a really left field thought as I've been reading the previous few pages about sling-shotting key forward types after hot starts. Has anyone looked at Josh Bruce. New team with a really good midfield to kick him the ball. I think from memory the dogs have and easy run early. Priced at 65. Could he be a player to average 4 goals and 100SC for 6 weeks?

Sir, please step away from the SC team picker.

The guys never managed to average more than 69 in a season. Be quite a leap to get to 100, even just for a six week period. My advice would be to look elsewhere

Right thinking, wrong player perhaps? If you want to try and roller-coaster a key forward to a slingshot try Tom J Lynch. Not much more dollars but solid 2nd half of 2019 and friendly early draw.

Thoughts on Connor Rozee? Same price bracket as Wingard and from pre-season reports has been an absolute stand out for a second year player, could be an interesting POD on the forward line.
Will be interesting how many CBAs he attends and his midfield minutes.
I had him in my side as he looks like a footballer who is going places. However, I figure being a second year player, even if he has a great year, he is likely to fall (just) short of being one of the top forwards, so removed him. I am sure @BigRuss will give you an honest opinion.

Just thinking outside the square. Generally I do not pick these type of player. I don't even have T Lynch at the moment. I am not seriously considering Bruce.

Considering Ceglar now at F3 - a permanent ruck role at $417k feels like a potential high floor FWD option with the ability to ton up on a regular-enough basis to balance out the risk?
Still much to play out here, McEvoy only had a corkie so I’m sure they’re keen to see them together. I thought Ceglar was a bit meh considering he had every opportunity to smash it

Agree he was bang average barely noticed his impact, certainly didn't pass the eye test but he was rucking against Marshall and Ryder which I imagine will be one of the toughest fixtures for a ruck this season and scored 81 in 66% TOG and did nothing when the game was on the line. Number 1 rucks usually will play 85% TOG or more so big scope for improvement. Feel dirty even considering him but maybe you have to lol.

Yeah he was a bit disappointing tonight. Even before the injury the statement today from the Hawks that McEvoy will be playing as a KPD this year was the reason I'm considering Ceglar as a potential high floor FWD option.

It's tempting but I just worry that he is required to peak now at age 29, I mean I guess he just hasn't had the chance but that also worries me.
Maybe i am just a worrier?

Nah you're right to worry. Normally I'm 100% main ruck in the forward line = sold. McEvoy is better mark, better kick, better mover, and better against Graundy. Ceglar is a better tap ruck against some opponents. If he doesn't main ruck there is every chance he sits out with Patton/Frost arriving. I would strongly urge against an R2 start with the view to swing forward. I also note his R3 match is Grundy, the first match for full price impact. He also comes up against Gawn, Goldy and Nic Nat before the bye. Plenty of risk. Also a chance to buy post buy as his Gawn low score will fully roll through his price. He is firmly on my watch for upgrade list but too much risk for a starting spot for me. That risky F3/4 spot is TJL's for me.

Not much of a ceiling for Wingard, only 13/136 games of 120+.

He has kind of interested me when forwards have looked thin, but it seems odd that he brained it in his second and fourth year, and if anything seems to have got worse since then?
