Thanks mate.

Ceglar. Had enough!
I'm axing him as well. Certainly won't be a premo if he's job sharing, and Big Boy is surely the superior ruckman.

I can't quite afford to make the same moves as you, so will likely just target value premiums for the next few weeks and hope Pittonet can produce another decent score or two. We know he's capable.

Moved up to 1300 overall last week and have decided not to die wondering.

This week I get Nobles 62 in place of Mahony who moves to the bench (should be at least be a breakeven) and then Docherty V Whitfield with 120k in the bank.

Targeting Stewart as a Docherty replacement in a few weeks so fingers crossed I can get at least 1 more game from Noble.

Trying to read the play on fixturing ( almost impossible) but willing to take on Docherty who has a massive breakeven, a potential bye in the next month and also a candidate to miss a week when the games are condensed (my opinion only based on injury history)
Good luck with it all , hope it works out.

Hopefully they release Round 9 - 12 all together so we have a better idea of what's going on , not sure why they don't just have a split round (be a lot fairer for sides instead of having byes all the way up to Round 17 ).

All this talk of being able to play in November & December and now they are looking at the Grand Final a week earlier , just because players are "bored" in hubs they want to play more games and condense the schedule , doesn't quite make sense to me.

Hoping to bring back Stewart myself , hard to get info on him , probably needs to play 2-3 games though to get his price right down , so not sure on the timing , might all depend on how Hurn performs in the Derby (although he could be tested with a condensed schedule too).

Who knows what will happen.

Chase hard

Round 7
Jarrod Brander ---> Sam Simpson [via Rivers] (Done)
Curtis Taylor ---> Izak Rankine

Don't necessarily want to trade Taylor this week, but structurally I have to as it means I then only field two of Rankine, Townsend, Aarts. And can play all of Simpson, Bennell, Pickett in the MIDs.

Round 8
Jacob Townsend ---> Lachie Whitfield
Connor Budarick/Justin McInerney --> Bailey Smith

Due to structure, Smith will stay in MIDs for a week or two, before DPPing FWD when trading Aarts or Darcy Cameron out.
Theoretically FWD line is complete, although have Devon Smith and Dustin Martin stinking it up.

Have good reasons to trade out any of Taylor, Budarick, Rivers, Mcinerny, Brander, or B. Williams for Rankine. They can all be moved on no problem!

Do I get rid of Taylor as he's appreciated the most, may be injured, and plays the scoring boa-constrictor's that are the Tigers this week? Or do I buy into all this 'warm body' + 'congested fixtures' talk, and get rid of Williams, as he is a floating donut who seems unlikely to play (despite @Lost In The Sky getting my hopes up everyweek aha)... decisions decisions.

Got rid of Ceg for Simpson last night btw, and have Shiel on the pine, so part of me thinks I should just skip Rankine and upgrade instead as I'm essentially down 2 premos this round (not that I care for OR this season...)
This is one of those great supercoach dilemmas. Do you plan for things that might not happen or play for the now? Also depends on your position with regards to overall or league or just general fun. Do you need the money this week? Can you put more points on the ground? Playing for the now for me would be Taylor out before his price drops.
Who is at R3? Unless there is a cheap R3 with a regular gig I can't see the point in getting rid of Williams. Even if he's not sitting there now he can at some point.

I went with the logic of of removing injured players and players who arent getting a gig. Right now, anyone actually getting named, no matter how terrible, is staying in.

Agreed, i'm keeping Taylor, has the potenial to score well and had one bad week due to a hit from Shiel, but has kept his spot. Cunners still out must help his chances too. He's also named on the field, whatever that means.

I'm cutting McInerney instead - if he can't get a game with JPK and Heeney out, does not make good reading for him.

Who else is holding Pittonet for another few weeks while trying to upgrade elsewhere? I mean, we know he’s capable of scoring well but just hasn’t done so for the past two weeks. I haven’t caught the last two blues games to comment as to why his scoring has dried up...
Holding him till we see if we are going to best 18. My previous strategy to try and complete my side early becomes a dud as if we do go best 18 it'll become more important to have true premiums than fake premiums like Pitto.

Surely going to 'Best 18' is the only way to accommodate the upcoming bye fixturing...?
Looking purely at the Rucks, we know Gawn's bye-free but Grundy still has a bye to play out...so do the powers to be advantage teams who're already set up with Ruck cover...? (This is the only point of conjecture in my deliberation whether to hold Ceglar or not)

Agree that if the remaining competition revert to a 'Best 18' scenario then our trades/targets would definitely have to change accordingly. I would like to know either way RIGHT NOW but don't like my chances unfortunately.

I am. Have Nic Nat at R2 and no doubt he will get injured soon so need Pit as back up for now
Have other spot fires to put out first

Ended up with trades: Ceglar/Starc out, Lloyd/Rankine in.

Didn’t want to have a worst side on field this week compared to last. Also gives me a looping option and cover in defence + loop option forward, which I wouldn’t have had. Hoping one of the rookies looks solid this week so I can 1 up 1 down two players not playing atm.

Leaves me with a really solid defence: Lloyd, doc, Sicily, Ridley, laird, Hill (Williamson rivers).

Already done Rowell to Simpson.

Probably going to go Ceglar to Yeo. If Ceglar gets 50 (probably being generous) and Yeo gets 120 (young Freo midfield, no Fyfe, back at the nest) the trade will cost around 120k next week rather than 65k this week.

Miss out on Rankine but save 65k and potentially 60 odd points.

--- Well I was just about to post the above and then read THCLT's post about a ruck bench... hmmm

Noble playing last night has really mucked up my plans, lol.

Would love to to Ceglar to Rankine and Pittonet to Gawn but just can't justify it given the state of the rest of my team ($100,500 ITB)

Lloyd, Docherty, Siciliy, Houston, Doedee, Hill (Noble, Williams)
Neale, Titch, Merrett, Oliver, Viney, Coniglio, Pickett, Bennell (McInerney, Budarick, Mahony)
Grundy, Pittonet (Comben)
Simpkin, Petracca, Dusty, Celgar, D Smith, Taylor (Brander, Cameron)

Really not sure what to do.

Celgar to Rankine, Pittonet to Gawn. Leaves 2 DEF upgrades, 2 MID upgrades (keeping Viney), 2 Fwd upgrades.

Brander to Rankine, Celgar to Macrae. Leaves 2 DEF upgrades, 1 MID upgrades and 2 FWD and 1 RUC upgrades.

Brander to Rankine, Ceglar to Whiffield. Leaves 2 DEF upgrades, 2 MID upgrades 1 FWD upgrade and 1 RUC upgrade.

Can no longer see the forest from the trees.

Had Noble not played last night the plan was Noble to McPherson and Budarick to Whitfield but that is off the tale unless I trade Taylor and Ceglar this week.

Unfortunatly I dont see an oppurtunity for one up one down unless I trade Ceglar.

In a bit of a pickle, really don't know which way to go

No need to waver when Gawn is included in one of your options I reckon. Ceglar/Pit to Rankine/Gawn looks like an obvious choice and I would argue it’s a double upgrade!

Your team is actually very balanced! I would go option 1. There won't be many other rounds when you will have the funds (and luxury) available to trade in Max Gawn. There is also reassurance that Gawn will play every round for the rest of the season. Without knowing the upcoming fixture, you would be feeling very short-changed if GWS or the Western Bulldogs were to have a bye in round 9.

Cheers B18, thats the sexy option, the thing that scares me about that option is the fact I still have 2 MID upgrades to do and no cash to do it with and it will result in some pretty compromised picks going forward .

Thanks for thoughts (y)

Yeah good point - I actually have Conroy at R3, so could just as easily go him to Rankine and move Williams to the R3 spot.

That’s a good point but Gawn is a must so I would get him while you can and stress about the other stuff later.

Worst case you grab a Selwood or fwd/mid type later but there’s no real equivalent compromise for Gawn.
